Here is the official info from the Herald.
WAR is here and has brought with it many brave adventurers who seek to make their mark on the world around them. The Age of Reckoning is at hand and the gods of Order and Destruction summon you to their call!
Great rewards await those who take up their charge and help to bolster their army's strengths where it's needed the most.
We are pleased to introduce Realm Population Bonuses. These bonuses are temporary boosts to help new players get into the game and strengthen their allies’ efforts on servers where their realm struggles to keep up with the growing armies of their enemy.
For one week, these chosen servers will bestow divine gifts upon the designated realm to help swell their ranks and give them the power to try and turn the tides of battle. Players who join the vanguard will receive a 20% bonus to renown and experience!

Very cool
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
aye, figured this would change some people's view on the balance issues - seeing as they are definately in the process of fixing some of the issues - or at least trying to
I play a lot of games...
Thats what counts. There trying to make others happy without making others mad. Really good idea if you were planning on rerolling. I gotta give a "Good Job" to Mythic for this.
Enjoy the rerolls to anybody who is.
Enjoy : )
woot bechafen ftw
There's a thread here discussing this very topic, including a poll with "yes" / "no" if you would roll on a different server just because of a one week realm bonus:

I voted no, because whenever I chose a server it's either because I have friends there, or the name sounds cool.
Witching Night Public Quests, Items, Rewards and Images
As I said in my Warhammer Review: "How Mythic deals with population balance will make or break this game"
I'm glad they are working in the right direction
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)

Its not live! (servers are down again, lol)
I don't like this personally. It may help T4 balance as one side will hit T4 faster, but it doesn't do anything for the other tier balance.
I know it is a problem in every MMORPG to date, but I would like to see them address imbalance within an area, not just a server.
So a server may have more destruction, but maybe 2x as much order in one area. Something should be done to give those Destruction at least a fun fighting chance.
Something else needs to be done about making RVR lakes during T1/2/3 more encouraging. Like. . . maybe have scenario groups spawn there instead of in an instance, up the rewards for that type of RvR, or put more quests in those areas.
looks like breaking to me.
asking players to join low servers cuz you will get 2-5 lvls more in that week is joke.servers wont get that much populated.. mediums wont get to full.. fulls will get to med if ppl reroll..
you go from med> full
and merge lows..
Does not surprise me, I have actually been waiting for this. Mythic does this in DAOC to try and balance out the servers. I like this type of incentive
Right direction? They only chose two servers and the Core server they chose has like double the population of at least 5 other servers.
Unless they are already planning on merging Marienberg they gave it a death sentence.
Imho, while all this wont fix it. This, at least, proves to me that they acknowledge there is some population problem and are trying to find a solution.
Better than the usual thinking of so many MMO companies: "there is no problem here".
Personally, I still dont think population balance is a problem but I was always in the underdog realm in DAoC so I am used to be outnumbered.
My main concern about the game right now is if there will be enough players in T1, T2 and T3 for the new players to enjoy it (many QQ threads in here and other forums are related to this problem, imo).
As soon as the mass of players reach rank 40, the problem may get solved or not. When the server population get more mature in the sense of reaching 40, some people will roll new toons and that may fix it. But I dont know.
I guess I will have to wait and see. I hope that, if this will be a problem, Mythic will find a solution (which I dont know if they will).
This!
And I have extra free time over the next 7 days so this is going to be huge.

"If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos
correct me if I'm wrong but the bonus is live on only 2 servers, hmm, carrot on a stick anyone, lol oh boy
the bonus is only for servers that qualify - not every server is going to get bonuses all the time..that part seasm obvious tho

Yet we wonder why everyone does scenarios instead of RVR hmmm
Most MMO’s imbalance comes from two things:
Overpowered characters
RP preference
I don’t see many people talk about class imbalances, so I think it is RP preference. The players looking at numbers go 50:50ish, then maybe more people want to PR The Destruction. It is a fantasy RPG, so who wants to roll a Human? Who wants to be the “good guys”?
