Thinking about playing Eve online again...

glordglord Member UncommonPosts: 338

Eve online has an RP community, and the RP will soon be even better when we get to walk on stations. The problem is I found it boring to just search asteroid fields for stuff to blow up and salvage once I got the salvaging skill.

Edit: And if I started as an Amarr, could I join the Minmatar republic?

Speaking strickly from a RP stand point I dont know why any Amar would want to align him/her self with minmatar considering amar to this day still has a good amount of the minmatar population as slaves.

Now Why would you start as Amar if you want to go minmatar? You are aware that you can train in any type of ship so even being amar you can fly minmatar ships and vise versa.

Anyway ratting and salavaging 24/7 can be boring, try running missions and mining. Maybe get into a corp and do some Gang Pvp. try your hand at some crafting, inventing or work toward exploration.

There's a bunch of things to do in Eve don't just stick to ratting 24/7.

Oh and to really take advantage of salvaging get a destroyer and outfit it with four tractor beams and salvager rays and see if a more experienced pilot will take you along on level 4 missions. You make a ton of isk have some decent conversation and get to see first hand what hardcore mission running is like.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

I changed my mind. I'll be going Minmatar. I like the punk/headbanger looks you can customize them with.

Whats the news on the expansion that lets you go on stations on foot? Also, when should I start pvping with a corp? Can I join an RP corp thats not entirely into PVP, and contact a PVP oriented corp so I can tag along with them for their guild PVPs?

Edit: After reading the wiki, I found out that different Races' ships are good for different stuff. If I'm going minmatar, I'll start with the minmatar frigates skill. Unfortunately, Minmatar requires more skill than most and I want something easier like Amarr (I like the look of their ships). Is it a good idea to train for Amarr frigates as soon as possible?

    1) You can join 1 corp at a time. Doing PvP events with other corps that are not in your alliance is very difficult because of different standings, also chat channels won't be shared.
    2) RP corp will most likely dislike your non-RP PvP activities.
    3) All races have their pros and cones, all races have their own style of fighting. No race is weaker than other.
Minmatar are not that difficult to skill up, imo. Sure they have their ships halved for shield/armor tankers but the same goes for gallente drones/hybrids, caldari missile/hybrids and amarr laser/drones(/shield tank).

It does not matter much what race you choose, what matter is your ship you specialize in - and of course patience and iron will to comply with your skill plan. Flysing 1 ship well is better than suck at 5 others.

An RP reason for going Amarr but joining with the minmatar, would be seeing how your people treat the minmatar and finding that appalling. Sort of like Drizzt Do'Urdden from Dungeons and Dragons.

Now is a great time to start the game. (accualy anytime is) but empyrean age just came out and were going to have "walking in stations" very soon. Once u do get back into the game make sure to join a corp. Most new members try to solo the game and, while its possible, its not as fun as being in a corp and accualy making a difference in the eve comunity. I gaurentee that if you join a corp and play for more than a month you will be hooked from that point on. Great game and i look forward to seeing u in space/and or destroying your ship

I'm thinking about playing, and this forum is extremely encouraging.  I have no idea what I'm in for.  It sounds both exhilarating, exciting, and exasperating all at the same time, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

But, how is the community chatter? One thing that really immerses me is when there is tons of ingame chatter. Just wondering about that.

I always refer to the one thing that helped me enjoy the game. Another player stated work on "specilaization" I love my domi and love to max out my drones. It makes the game easier to play along with when you don't try to split things up. After the domi, I'll max out my 425's and then go down the path to pilot a dread. Battleclinic also helps if you are stuck with your plans of attack.  The game is cool it doesn't requir much effort and I can always put it away when I feel. So come back and play.
