Wrongly accused of hacking. Warning for Saitek Joystick users.

Ok, so 1st day back into Planetside. YAY! It's a great day, get it downloaded, jump in game. Immediately I'm presented with a problem. For some reason my fire button is being spammed. I'm in the Sanctuary and the "You cannot fire here" message keeps spamming a mile a minute. Ok, check my key map, everythings fine, but every time I pull the Joystick trigger the firing stops. Not planning to use the Joystick, I exit game.. Remove the joystick from systems manager and relog back in. Everything works fine now.

Few days later, I reboot my computer. Vista picks up the joystick again without me realizing. Log into the game, happens again. This time I log out, remove it from system AND unplug it.

Problem solved.

That was nearly a week ago. Today I go to log in and "Your account is suspended, please contact customer support".

Ok, well since it's midnight and CS isn't open I wait til the morning, get up, goto Chat session and the guy points me to the telephone. I call em, the guy on the phone tells me to contact the GM. Ok I do this now, contact the GM. "You were firing 20x faster then possible, thus you were using a Third party program and your account will remain suspended."

Now by this time I'm explaining what happened, but noooo. He can't tell me if it was that or not, only that I was firing 20x faster then possible and the week long ban is still in place.

WTG Sony Customer Service!

You guys sure helped me out!

This is a warning to all users of the Saitek X52 Flight Control System. Disable this before you play or you will be accused of hacking too and get a week long ban.

I hate SoE

Well how would they be able to tell the diffrence. Its still a thrid party program that caused this. The program for the joystick probaly had autofire on or something.

    Darkfall for now.

Quit bashing games YOU don't like! Including WoW, you know you liked it before you got burned out.

THOSE DUMBASSES!  I can contest that Planetside does not like Saitek products.  Every freaking time I load up planetside, I have to unplug my saitek keyboard, otherwise the screen goes blank and stays blank.  So:

    1.  load planetside and log-in

    2.  Prior to the character-selection screen I MUST unplug my keyboard

    3.  After the character-selection screen comes up, I can plug my keyboard in again.

I can't believe those DUMBASSES not only can't get their shit working with "compatible" hardware, but they friggin Ban a player for it !!!!!!!!

    WHAT FRIGGING RETARDS !!

If there's anything I can do like sign a petition, send an email to someone, or whatever, to help you out, please tell me.  I WILL do it.

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

The fact that he was in sanc might be a clue to the GM. Don't worry SOE support are (IMHO) the worst in the industry. I have so many examples of bad encounters with SOE support that I feel dirty when I play they're games caus I know that JUST when I'm having fun something bad will happen and I'll have to struggle with them again.

Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL

I can't believe they actually banned someone, it's a fkin miracle. Tbf to the gm's though, how are they supposed to tell the difference? They can't just take your word for it.

To be honest, thats what you get for giving SOE money.

I think a quick fix to the problem is to uninstall the program and never play the game again. Find something better. SOE has a long history of screwing over their customer base. I am shocked people even bother with them anymore.

Actually, the reason we employ an expensive human, rather than just leave this to an automated system like Punkbuster is so that they can make human judgements rather than just blindly apply one size fits all rules like an automaton.

If they can't appreciate the difference in discussion with one of their clients, then they are'nt worth paying for. They are not fit for purpose.

Planetside has always had some issue with Saitek hardware for some reason. A few years ago I was getting a blank screen every time I tried to boot up the game and had no idea why. Support couldn't help me at all, they kept asking me to delete my settings file THEN later would ask me to email it to them. Hello, I deleted it like you asked me to, remember?

I finally gave up on SOE support and went to the Planetside forums. BAM, right at the top of the forum was a thread started by someone with the same problem as me. Some OTHER PLAYER had figured out it was his Saitek keyboard and said to uninstall the Saitek driver to fix the issue. Something is very wrong when the players know more about making the game work than the paid support staff do.

I was banned not long ago too. Wrongly accused from hacking (speed, speed of fire and client changes). After some emails and phone calls with SOE support they unbanned me.

I had some lags on my wi-fi connection, was using Belkin Nostromo keypad (without macros) and using two years old but continuously updated client.

Now I am playing again but never know, when ban comes again. :(
