PeHed you are the Shit!!!, begging for money and all. I have never played an mmorpg besides the stress but I will weigh in anyway. I felt like WoW is defiently a money oriented game. Diablo2 no one ever picked up glod unless they needed to repair, get merc, or needed health pots despertly. So I think the durablility in WoW is going to be alot more 'real'. People are going to run out of money, in stress i was giving a group member money so he could ride a bat to complete a quest.

I don't really know if I like the idea but I hope it is not time based. It would really suck not playing for a week and then finding out all of your gear is broken!!::::16::::::16::::::16::

Sounds like a wonderful idea! Make sure however that the item is only useless at 0/100 durability and not completely broken or lost forever.  It seems to me like it could be a nice tool in adding to the imersion of WoW.

I don't play mmorpg's because of how close to "real" life they are, I play because it's not real life.

I am okay with item durability. I've played Diablo2 for many years and I am accustomed to it. If Blizzard keeps the same type of low cost repairs as in Diablo2, it'll be fine.

yar. but for high instance raids I really hope that armor deterioration isn't fast. cause it'll suck if you are mid raid and gotta stop cause your gear is just raped.

I have to respond to this sentiment. I play RPGs because I want them to be close the the "real" life of the character I am playing...

yes. because taurens , trolls, gnomes, elves, orcs are all real , in-game and out. and we all know what their real lives are all about...

and if realism is what everyone thinks is good then how about if we are going with item decay(which happens in real life), we go with perma death. the ultimate realism. when was the last time you saw someone get hit by a truck and just hit release, walk up to his corpse and loot his corpse, that aint keepin it real.
Yes, another edition of "when keeping it real go's wrong"

    I KEEP IT REAL!

Well, obviously you draw lines. I mean when your character dies that means you cease playing. So that wouldn't be a good game. But having durability is something that is within the bounds of doable I think.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and as far as knowing what those races are like in "real" life. Well, that's what imagination is for. Some dev somewhere put it succinctly when he said, it's not about being "realistic," it's about being "consistent within the game world." Don't remember who said that.

I like the idea, I just think they need to work the kinks out a bit more. Which, I am sure they are doing as I write this.image

All I can say is: Thank GOD!

Last thing I wanna see is a bunch of level 48 characters running around like their top shit cause they've got some "uber" weapon. If only they couldn't be repaired, I'd love this idea.

I dont mind the idea and it adds a money sink, and hopefully you should only have to do it once every 1 to 2 days like a blizzard poster posted. As long as it doesnt effect my gameplay that much (just repair it every time you go to town) and it helps the economy then i'm all for it

    Why such an angry reply?

Have you ever roleplayed bofore (trying to live your characters life)?? I guess you have not, replying like that to my post..

I have not seen any good resons so far in this forum, why "not" to use item durability..

What is wrong with a little bit of "reality" in a game like WoW?? I would understand this durability discussion if we were talking about Warcraft3, but this is a MMORPG fellas....

I'm pretty sure that was some type of compliment, Pehid. That's how people talk these days...

Yeah, lol, Let us hope we see more of a roleplay atmosphere in the game than we do on the message boards.

I'm hoping that by choosing the pvp server, most of the little kids won't follow.

About the PvP server (perhaps this should be a post of its own) ...

Will the PvP server feature PvP all over the map, not just PvP zones ??!

If so.. Will i be abel to ambush, surprice and raid poor little players at any time, all over the world, if we so wish.. and get ambushed and raided myself ?!

Well, I'm not in the beta, but from what I've gathered from emulated servers and such, the pvp servers will be all out open pvp anywhere and everywhere.

But in most towns there are guards placed, so you'll remain fairly safe there... Hard to resist playing on a server that you have to keep your senses prepared for battle at all times.

But thats how i want it, thats how i like it..

But there should be some kind of safe place in the towns, where you can rest, have some ale and tell about your stories to the innpeople.. image

I don't care for the durability, reminds me too much of another Blizzard game.  The game that starts with a D, and ends in an iablo.
  • aeric67aeric67 Member UncommonPosts: 798

    LOL...

Good game, though. I can't deny that.

Item decay sucked on certain items in DAoC, and the rate was pretty high imo.

I think item decay is a must if you want crafting in the game.

They decay isn't as bad as loseing durability though each time you repair the item.

Decay over time is the worst though... If you have something in storage, or have not been in any battles, your armor and weapons shouldn't take damage.

Its not realy a big deal item decay everytime i go to town i repare and it cost not real much it last at least 5 hours before complete useless.

And at lower lvls you have many times new items so its not realy problem then when you high lvl you have for amount it cost enough to repair it so its not a big problem.
