All the hosts there are annoying. The guys are emo wimps, and Morgan Webb exhibits the worst aspects of the personality of an egomaniacal woman who can make herself unattractive due to her overestimation of her hotness.
Not that I wouldn't bang her though. But the fun part would be at the end when I'd tell her matress dance wasn't in the top 100

Hauken Stormchaser I want pre-CU back Station.com : We got your game Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!
I wouldn't doubt that BioWare's MMO will have some (slight) sandbox elements, but I don't see the game having a ton of them. From what has been said by the folks at BioWare, the main focus of their MMO will be to deliver a strong story directed game, one that is similar to their single player MMOs. Hopefully they include significan choices that have an impact on the outcome of the stories, which is one of the main draws to thir post Baldur's Gate games (every post Baldur's Gate game had some sort of moral choices that affected the outcome of the story, even if the KotOR choices were little more than agreeing with the developer's worldview gave you light side points, while disagreeing, even if the choice had no real evilness to it, gave dark side points). I really hope that if choices are included, they are more involved than rude response is evil, nice respinse is good (or the Mass Effect allignment system).
I pretty much agree. What I don't get is why the hell did they spend all the money it would take to put that particular dev team together...who's background is mostly UO and pre-cu, the exepction being the guy who did KOTOR, if they were just gonna clone WOW? Why hire those guys if they were just doing kotor online? You would think a team made up of pretty much all the remaining "worldly" mmo devs would make something...worldly. Who knows though.
See you in the dream.. The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.

These are exciting times - with the new MMOS in the wings , The next expansion for WoW and this epic announcement of the KOTORO on the 21st .
It looks like I will be donning my purple tux to deliver my hilarious Eulogy for a game that truly died 3 years ago. For quite some time now, we have to endure those who revel in that corpse of agame and I will treat them in Roaster Fashion ... I can hardly wait....its coming.

yup I would call bull on that too. Who said that?
What the OP was speaking of was the free transfers that SOE is allowing between the SWG worlds. It is not between games, only in SWG to help players leave low population servers for populated servers.
It's not inconceivable that LEC might offer something for those who have played SWG if they sub to the new MMO. Don't know, might not be possible since SOE won't be involved.

If SWG will be shut down when KotORO comes out I see it going something like this... SOE will continue to boast about the new Hoth instance for another 4-5 months. They will then say it will be included in a new expansion pack that has nothing to do with episode IV-VI. This expansion will offer many nice things to people that pre-order it. Then, they will release the expansion roughly two weeks before KotORO is due to be released. 2 days after releasing the expansion, they will announce that SWG is being shut down when KotORO is released, and all support will vanish.
Yep.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
Hmm I have most likely missed it, I usually do... But where exactly is it stated officially that they new MMO is in fact a Star Wars MMO?
I would love a new Star Wars MMO just for the fact that SOE is lacking the balls to do a forced server migration of SWG so we could get some people to play with. NGE on it's own isn't as bad as everyone is yelling their lungs out to make everyone else think it is. It was poorly implemented which lead to low populated servers.
And about shutting it down not to compete with the new game? How would they do that? New game is Bioware and EA as it seems, old game is SOE and LA. LA won't pull out as it isn't costing them jack and they still have a contract with SOE about just the SWG game.
With todays trends it will most likely be a overhyped game that in the end will make everyone all whiny and squeeky becouse it wasn't "the star wars game WE wanted it to be"... Just look at AoC, War, Lotro... All these games had whining fans just after release becouse THEY didn't like how the game was made.
Well time for bed here, you all have fun contemplating this yet to be fully announced game ^^
You haven#t missed anything. But well...there's several pointers leading people to believe the unveiled game will be Star Wars: The Old Republic. Such as registered trademarks in that name, the cooperation between LA and BioWare, the slip from EA's chief honcho, several alleged claims by ex employees, etc. etc.
It's considered the industry's worst kept secret. And it certianly has been hyped and speculated about long before any facts about it have ever surfaced. Which would fit in nicely with their announcement of revealing.."the most anticipated game...".
You know, people keep saying it's "the worst kept secret" and all, but if you think about it - that really isn't the case at all. I mean, think about what we know about the game - nothing, practically. We know it's using the Hero Engine, and we know it's being developed by Bioware, and LucasArts is in there somewhere too.
We don't really KNOW that it's Star Wars. I mean... we DO know... but we don't really. That EA guy could have easily lied about what he said. I mean, you wouldn't think someone would let that slip... on accident.
Aside from what's stated above... we know nothing. So, in this respect, I'd say that's a pretty good little secret there. Usually, after a game has been in development for three years, you would have a website, and know pretty much what the original design plan was.
I would think he let it slip on purpose maybe to see or gauge how well its welcome. I would say its a split theres a X amount of people that just want a KOTOR III SP and a X amount of players that want a KOTOR-O and another X amount who just want another SW IP wheter its GCW post this or that MMO.
Or he just is an idiot and let slip something fantastic due to loose lips. and boom there goes the dynamite.
Keep in mind, EA's CEO made his comments to a journalist from an investment magazine, during an interview about EA's future as an investment for potential and current investors. If he lied, the reprocussioins are much bigger than if he had overhyped some crappy game on Gamespot or Gamespy. It could potentially cost him his job, a bunch of money, and even his freedom, since the SEC doesn't tend to look favorably on corporate executives who make false statements to manipulate the value of their stock, and/or defraud investors.
My prediction is that SOE will lose Star Wars licensing rights but won't shut SWG down. They will change all of the SW specific elements with generic Sci-Fi elements and rebrand the game as...MEATLUMPS ONLINE!!!
My 2 cents on this matter. SWG is pretty much nothing more than dead weight for SOE. With the playerbase being what it is, i truly can't see SOE crying over possibly losing the SW license, especially when they have the Agency and DC online in the works.
With the new SW MMO being announced on the 21st, i predict this will finally give SOE the chance to clean it's MMO house and dump not only SWG but the Matrix online. The only thing will be the timing that they do so.
I would imagine that LA, Bioware and SOE exec's have sat down and discussed what would be the best situation for all parties involved. For LA, this would probably mean letting SOE run with SWG until the new game is ready to be launched.
This way, LA's and SOE still make some money and keeps a SW MMO out in the public's eye. Even if there is good or bad public opinion on the shut down of SWG, it's a win win situation, because even bad publicity is good.
The biggest winner out all of this will be the SW fans. They will get to dive into a new SW MMO that hasn't been tainted by the stinch of the NGE. The new MMO may not be what everyone would like it to be, but with Bioware behind the wheel, it should be a damn good MMO, that will captrure the true SW essence.

unfortunately, LA will still be involved, though i pray they don't. Every time they try to force change or start seeing $$ flash before their eyes, games usually get shot to sh*t. I pray they remain very very hands off the bioware mmorpg.

Some representatives from EA already said in public that the Bioware MMO will come out around 2010/2011.
It might just be my pessimism, but I predict:
#1 - it will be totally something I'm not expecting.
#2 - Game engine wise, it will be nothing like the original KOTOR
#3 - it will be level based
#4 - it will be WoW taken to the next level
#5 - I will be sorely disappointed
I'm hoping that I'm wrong, but about 10-20 games released in the past 5 years have done all the above.
The worst part of all is most of the said games promise to be the next SWG - but in reality, they're just the next WoW....

Every single game title I've ever seen has advertised "No more boring grind."
And then the game comes out and it's a boring grindfest.
Now I'm not calling game designers liars...oh wait, yes I am.
It would really help if the people making the game actually played it....
