I know WOW does not need to much but dont want to have to upgrade for diablo 3 or so on. Dont want to spend too much more than $2k and I do not want to buy vista either. thanks in advance!

having a 2k price cap pretty much leaves you open to anything, as thats quite a hefty sum to be plopping down on any rig.
You say you want to build your own system, but for someone who lacks good pc savvy this might be a bad option for you, not trying to diss you or anything, but just be aware that building a pc can have its own set of problems for those who can't repair and fix everything on their own.
I would suggest going with Ibuypower or another of the specialty pc manufactures and try to see if there is something in there that would work for you. Just pay close attention to your CPU, RAM, and GPU and you should be set.
