I played WoW to PvP. I thought it was fun. You do some quests, do some dungeons, get some gear.. go PvP for a while.
But I kept running into the same problem:
I wasn't a dedicated player with a higher level alt to give me money to outfit a level x9 player. Whenever I joined a BG, I had 700 HP while all of the local rogues had 2k+ hp (think this was level 19 or so), max engineering for the.. whatever that had (think the plus HP goggles or something).. and now..
With the release of WotLK, and gaining xp from PvP, will the Twinks be phased out?
Thoughts?

It would be long overdue, twinking and gear based balance is what ruined this game for me.
I really hope so as well. I quit (one of serveral times) because PvP was gear based. Now, I understand that showing that you worked for something is good.. it shouldn't make you a PvP god (and given the fact that TWINKS never get their own gear, it's sort of irrelevant).
Assuming this change is impleneted and they give a significant amount of XP for PvP (enough to level by doing pvp) then I may look into getting this game.. again. But only if these changes are put in. Otherwise.. What's the point?

I hope they fix it, I have a 29 hunter that can pretty much destroy the entire horde side in WSG, and win games when my friends 29 pally is healbotting me. its pretty hopeless to fight against a twink.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
yeah killing twinks can only be a good thing. once i had a 60 and eventually 70 any alts ive leveled have totally passed up bgs (other than at 51 for the AV winning reward) because of twinks. For some reason people that twinks think it takes more skill than being the level cap and pvping. i find that to be a huge lie. Most twinkers i know just want to flaunt their E-peen and take down the people that dont have the best gear and enchants possible. Ill be hoping for exp in bgs.
And again.. thats the biggest issue I have. They are doing solely to make sure the other person doesn't have any fun. Their (or is it there?? LOL) joy is another's misery.

Twinking is the single biggest reason I left WoW (Lots of reasons but twinks were the primary reason). Twinks essentially killed PvP completely for the casual/non-hardcore player.
Theres nothing wrong with twinking. I had a level 39twink myself and had more enjoyment playing him than my level 70main. Twinking is exactly the same as endgame pvp, (being the best geared) except you don't have to play for thousands of hours to get there.
People who waste time in low level BGs when they should be leveling up deserve to be owned by twinks. I'm still waiting for a PVP game to come along and siphon all the brats out of WoW.

ROFL! I could not agree MORE. "Siphoning" the brats out of WoW will only make it an even more enjoyable game for the rest of the "non-bratty" players. LOL Twinks have always reminded me a little of spoiled brats in middle school. I can't really explain WHY....it's just an overall "flavor."
My son is upset by this, but honestly...I always thought MMORPGs weren't really the right place for people who ONLY want to fight against other people and aren't interested in anything else really. Why "twinks" didn't choose to play CS Source or Unreal, I will never understand. If you want to play an FPS game, basically....why don't you go DO so? I don't get it. PvP in an MMORPG, should have a REASON beyond just 24/7 killing people. Counterstrike dressed up in fantasy world armor? WTF FOR?
I suggested Warhammer to my son. I think that game is more for people that want to just PvP and nothing else. I tried Warhammer and was bored out of my skull. Therefore, I figure my son will LOVE it. Out taste in games is entirely different. I enjoy WoW. Some people find IT boring. Just a matter of taste, in my opinion.

I once had to argue a mate about how twinking wasn't "skillful", as he thought it was "skillful"....
Even though i always liked PvP to some degree, i never ever did see the point of twinking in the lower levels, i mean you had almost no abilities, it do be boring as hell.
I wonder where that magical non existant "skill" in twinking was, because to me it only looked like a second way of griefing unexpecting newcomers who wanted to try out the BGs early on. I sometimes also did bgs with an alt to get a certain weapon quick as it might speed up lvl'ing and to change the pace of things.
The exp gain from pvp is great, i love it, also in a second standpoint of gaining exp, if you got a little tired of doing pve stuff all day long. Though i don't expect to be using that exp feature at all, since all the pve places in wotlk looks so gorgeous, so when i get there i'll probably already be lvl 80 =S

Gear is an extension of skill. Just because a player is a skilled pvp'er doesn't mean they shouldn't pursue even greater glory by gearing up.
Get off the QQ bus. Twinks are fine. If they suck at pvp they die like everyone else.

Don't think it's all gear, you might be losing because you suck....and coming to a forum to share tears with other suckers isn't going to bring your game up. I've killed twinks with mediocre gear, it's no godmode.

People twink, but not all twinks are the same or are doing it the same.
Reading this thread is a joke, people trying to find reasons why they can't hold their own.

lack of abilities = more skill?
auto attack and spamming SS, isn't what i would call "skill" in any way, there's a reason for a certain limit in the hp alignment and cooldowns, certain classes lose if they can't finish their enemy during their cooldown and abilities cycle.
That being said i'm not whining about them honestly i don't care about them because i obviously never really faced the twinkers and if i did face those behind them it would have been in Arenas and normal BGs.
I know gear is not everything with everything right it's not too hard with certain classes to kill other classes even when you're outleveled or outgeared, i have tried beating pretty well geared lvl 70 warriors and paladins when my rogue was simply lvl 61 (not my main just an alt), luckily i knew about the warrior since i played one myself throughout vanilla wow.
But in general i don't see mmorpgs so much about being "skill", it's more about experience, knowing your enemy and your own class' limitations. Skill is something like hitting 10 targets the same place in a row, in the right moment, then again if i pointed that out i guess WoW actually would have skill as basis, since it has PVE boss fights that require right timing for everything. But again is also subject to simple experience of knowing the cycle and obviously help of addons.
I just don't see the point of playing low lvl chars with limited amount of abilities, it's what makes pvp so bloody fun, having a lot of gadgets at your disposal and using them at the right time.
in twinking i wouldn't be surprised, if this was the number of abilities used on the hotbar.....

Well, the fact that you can have better gear and less skill than someone.. means your "skill" is gear driven. And it's funny to read the posts about the people who twink and call themselves "good".. year right.. The point of BG is not to grow your penis, because you can kill someone who thought the BG were some place to take a break from questing. Which is what the TWINKS have made it. Fact remains TWinks don't fight TWINKS.. if someone with more skill is put into the BG, and they can no longer dominate them with their better gear.. they leave. Pretty simple. Same thing with Premades.. Very rarely with premades fight each other..
But I'm just stating a point. Good ridance to twinks..
