After playing Vanguard, DDO, EQ and Warhammer I've finally come to the conclusion that while these games are continuing to patch towards a WOW type game, why wait for that?
The real thing is a finished and better product so went and bought BC (had the regular version and a level 60 Paladin (from playing when it first came out).
See you all ingame.

Hype is my nemesis. i will fight it til the day i die whether i take it down or it takes me down. So depressing, Yes?
Welcome back. I just recently came back as well after a year long hiatus and two or three other games that just did not match up to WoW.
Playing Guild Wars (all games in franchise but mainly GWEN and Nightfall) and WoW (just returned to this great game).
Eagerly awaiting Aion, Guild Wars 2 and Wrath of the Lich King.
Have also played CoV/CoH
Same story here. What WAR accomplished was to remind me what an immersive world Azeroth is and what a game looks like when the developers take pride in their work. Sure, there are a lot of things I'd like to see Blizzard do with WoW, but as it stands, the game offers a something for any type of player wrapped in a polished, quality product that doesn't require you to keep upgrading your system if you want to play.
Everyone seems to want a piece of the WoW financial pie, but they only seem to want to live like rock stars without putting any real effort into producing a quality game experience.

WoW!! I am very impressed to see some decent posts on these forums for once. Sometimes it takes you leaving to try other things just to be reminded, Hey, WoW isnt a bad game at all its definately one of the best of all time.. period.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

I don't know why people are trying to compare WOW to WAR..They are 2 different games.
WOW is more for the PVE person and WAR is geared towards the PVP'er.
We can talk about WOW though....
Slice it up any way you want to, but truth is WOW lacks alot in PVP and thats why lots of people are flocking to WAR...because WAR immerses you in the world of pvp with RVR and PVP. WOW will try to copy other mmo's as they have done in the past, and as usual they foul it up.The truth is WOW is outdated and worn out like a gym sock, it offers nothing new and you can expect nothing new from this upcoming expansion. refurbished characters that were renamed, zerg to lvl 80, wait another 3 years for another expansion.
Battlegrounds: unbalanced classes and boring 4 year old battlegrounds.
AV: Theres nothing great about being confined confined to a very small area in all the maps. Alterac Valley use to be a place where goals needed to be accomplished and now its a 5 minute zerg fest...boring
AB: another confined map, where you can spawn rape people after 5 caps.
Warsong Gulch: very small, very confined. get flag and run from 1 end to the other, there nothing more boring than this map.
WOW should stick with PVE, because thats the way they started out.
The difference here is mainly about WOW vs WAR pvp and WOW can't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
WAR PVP and RVR: Fun, meaningful, balanced and fair
WAR's RVR and PVP scenario's are pretty big and it offers more than just plain old boring zerging, theres goals to complete and you gain points for xp and gear.
RvR is in every zone you go to. There is keep sieging and there is pvp action in epic sizes, not confined to 10 versus 10 like WOW.
So you can say what you want, you can trash my post, but fact is WAR dominates WOW in the pvp arena, hands down. Besides that I won't read your response anyhow, thats how I ensure I get the final say and you all can sit there and yak about it for the next few days.
Excellent post you hit the nail on the head. I enjoy playing both. I really was never a PvP person until I started to play WAR. At least now I can play toe to toe rather than twink to twink. Way more challenging and fun.
Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? ~Ernest Gaines
Glad you have a game to play and enjoy, and thanks for at least giving WAR a fair shake.
Enjoy your gaming!

I'm glad you like WoW BUT!!!
mmm not sure about all those game's patching towards WoW ? EQ was out well before WoW so that cant be possible and DDO plays nothing like WoW so i know that is not true,Vanguard is prolly a litlle closer but still had much more complexity about it just never came out as it should have, Warhammer is very similar but also very different, like some 1 else said WoW=PVE WAR=PVP so i can see where ya coming from but in saying that i can see where you are wrong IMO( not saying you are wrong just saying in my opinion you are).
You see the thing people these days are missing is that ok yeah these new games are just like another game but they are also different as in LORE, new Quest, new skill sets, new storyline's in fact they are a new game, it is all good that some 1 can like 1 title and just keep playing it but what get's me is that they go on and on about how much better there game is to another game that has just released (meaning as in WAR) but what amazes me is that if there game is so damn good then why did they leave in the first place? Not every game in the Market is trying to Dethrone WoW if anything a very small portion of game's being released and that have released were aiming in that general Direction, when will ppl get over the fact that not every MMO is trying to win the whole market i mean Kudos to them if they can but from what i see is that they are all just trying to get a share in the biggest gaming market in the World, so why is it thay when a game releases ppl take it upon themselves to think that this is the game to try and kick WoW from it's pedestal?
All i can say is good on ya for liking ya game but please in future i think if you are going to Compare how a certain game is shaping up like WoW maybe you should pick game's that are actually trying to be like WoW.
Great man!
I really love the Burning Crusade you should have a lot of fun.
I really love the Burning Crusade you should have a lot of fun.
Oh man, it seemed like I was the only person in the entire world that actually enjoyed TBC. I'm not alone!!
I guess when Warhammer is merging servers in a few months you will have to find another angle to slag on WoW.
Warhammer is ok, but it isn't some drastic evolution of PvP. Scenarios are just like WoW battlegrounds, but not quite as well flushed out. Yes they are mostly just open field maps where teams just keep throwing haymakers at each other trying to take a flag point or kill the person with the flag. I've found more teamwork and tactics in WoW battlegrounds so far, but maybe that changes as people get used to the limited areas in Warhammer BG's.
As for classes being balanced, oh please. I can think of at least 3 classes on the order side that I would be happy to see replaced in scenarios and world PvP. If they just never showed up again and were replaced with something else the team would do better.
The only thing Warhammer offers is open world Keep raids and a larger number of battlegrounds. Beyond that it doesn't match much anything else that is offered by WoW. There is a reason that there is so much complaining about scenarios in Warhammer right now. They are the only reliable method of finding balanced PvP and they offer more reward than your "immersive" world PvP that is actually lacking on many servers.
In the end WoW offers superior PvE in so many ways with PvP that is roughly the same to warhammer minus the world objectives.
Warhammer offers Keep raids, a few more scenarios and everything else is just watered down in comparison. Sadly most servers are suffering population issues which is negatively affecting keep raids.
Why leave a noobie game to go to another noobie game?? why not try something a lil more advanced?
and that game would be?? honestly there arn't MMOs out there that aren't pulling on wows coatails. Eve seems to be the only other game of mention that has its own independent design and community that wants nothing to do with wow. Vanguard, Lotro, AoC all are just pretenders to the throne.
