Usually when you see an avatar like that you would think you liked something creepy like "pop" *shivers at the thought .. that is some scary stuff right there lol
Got to be honest, only one of those bands that I really enjoyed that you posted was Godsmack. Bands that scream in complete incoherency to me just isn't music. WHERE"S ALL THE MELODY?!
If you have your own version of "powerful kickaz music" then post it don't just complain about what others like. Now , I disagree that they are screaming incoherency, I can understand everything they say, but then again they have proven that people think at different speeds. I need music that is fast and hard enough to keep up with me. Now many consider higher pitched singing "melody" I for one can;t stand the sound of it, I would rather listen to nails being scratched on a chalkboard than listen to someone sing in a higher pitch. Rush for example, no matter how good their music is I can't get into it simply because of high the singer sings. I am not saying they aren't good, just not my preference.
On your first note. I didn't really want to derail your thread. I was just posting my thoughts on the music you put up.
On a second note, I didn't say that you needed to sing like Freddie Mercury to be melodic. I just figure it like this. I have an atrocious singing voice. I really can't keep a melody unless i'm singing in bass, and the song is meant to be sung that way. I am not musically gifted...fact.
Some of the bands you posted, the way they "sung", I could do that...Someone with no singing talent, no real musical ability, could imitate that. Now mind you my throat would end up being torn to hell in back and the process, but I could imitate it.
Instrumentally speaking, I will give kudos for that, and I enjoy it depending on my mood. For example, Children of Bodom. If I could remove the "singing" from their music, I would enjoy it.
P.S. I like your lineup of classical metal.
