Why people want WAR to fail?

I dont understand why people would post just the nagative aspect of the game and desperately want WAR (and many other MMOS) to fail.

Did you mother cheated on you father with a Mythic employee? Did Paul Barnett molested when you were 10 years old? Most like the answer to those question are NO.

If WAR succeeds WE ALL WIN!, why? Because we will have another good game for us to play and to have fun.

Dont you understand that by flaming, hating and  trolling all you do is shooting yourself on the foot limiting your gaming choices. If you dont want to play WAR dont play it, but dont work so hard trying to ruin it for those are currently enjoying the game and having fun.

Because these people (i would use better words to describe them but i can't here) love to cause misery, they love to cause trouble.  It makes them feel good to make other's feel bad, they love the fact that they sit behind there comp and can say whatever they want and get away with it.

They aren't true gamers, they are scum, a virus, they don't offer true discussion on problems with the game, they just "ZOMG THE GAME SUCKS 11111"

They probably get off on all this hate they spew because they have nothing better in their lives, trolling is their lives it seems, talking smack while hidden away is the only way they can feel good about themselves.

They blame games for being the same old thing, but maybe its just the fact that they can't stop being close minded and the same old person they have always been.  They will always blame things on everyone and everything else instead of thinking maybe they are the problem.

It's really weird when people want a game to fail. I never understood it.  Some people even say they would "laugh" when the game fails.

I think these people are blind haters who are childish and pathetic.

Having valid constructive concerns or not liking a game is one thing to but continually post negativity endlessly on the games forum and only highlighting the bad aspects make one a hater.

Every game has good and bad aspects you can recognise the blind haters by the fact that they:

    1. Only see the negative and never post anything positive about the game.

    2. Scour the internet for bad reviews and signs of the game failing such as numbers and data and post such on the games forums.  Then post these bad reviews while not posting all the positive ones.

    3. Make multiple accounts/posts to continually flame the game.

    4. Continually comment that the game will fail in multiple posts and still keep coming back to said game's forums and stating they would be happy when the game fails or predict the game's failure in XXX time.

    5. Bump up all the bad threads about the game and ignore the good ones.

Such trolls and haters are sad individuals with severe personality deificits and we should really pity them.

    because people like to vent

The thing they don't realise is that if MMOs keep failing then investors won't want to do them anymore. It already started, they don't want to invest in guaranteed failures anymore. Of course, their the main reason why those games fail in the first place, they just want an easy cash cow. They don't realise that unless your fully commited and willing to pay at least 100 million, you can't succeed in this business.

Another reason why I want Warhammer to succeed, even though I'm not enjoying it right now, is competition. There is no competition right now in the MMO market, only a monopoly and theres no reason for a monopoly to improve its product.

We NEED competition if we want MMOs to get better, if we want a game that first OUR need to come out eventually.

Personally I am typically very hard on games and go straight for their flaws. In fact if people had only set aside the reasons that they do not like the game I would've save a lot of money in not buy the collector's edition and just waited to see if it go any better. The critics who dislike this game do so on wholely solid grounds but are instantly shunned or lost in a sea of people who say nothing but good things, and thus, they have to become more aggressive in getting straight to the point and showing hatred with male intent to save people money; there are of course those who hate a game just because they think it makes them cool, however (though the same could be said for those who like a game).

In terms of WAR Online, however, the whole experience just seemed shallow and as I was playing I was geniuenly starting to get on the nerves of my fellow gaming colleagues as I was constantly saying, without intending to, how bored I was at that moment.

This mainly occured when I was actually in scenarios as the whole experience was reminiscent of my old school days of online gaming back when Starsiege Tribes was among the first online games that introduce what WAR Online calls "scenarios". It seems that thirteen years later we have to pay monthly for an experience that we once had for free, and much better, in the past.

Tribes online had player run servers of 100vs100 with no ques or any of the sort; it had true balance in terms of gear and classes and the only imbalance would be who was more skilled or experienced and/or if you were fighting against a guild.

Now we're be thrown a game that focuses on both RvR and these scenarios for renown and in many cases experience just to travel upon a world that was poorly designed both from a community sense in terms of social interaction and a quest sense.

The implemation of public quests was a good idea but poorly executed to a severe point as the few I did in tier one of the game (I quit doing them later on for obvious reasons) were so hard to get people or find people in the area to complete that it just wasn't worth it when you could get full reputation from just grinding the weaklings in the first wave. That and the rewards weren't that great for doing the whole thing; a green item that most likely isn't even for your class? No thanks.

If they make repeatable quests that give you random loot and experience, or even some money, for each time they fully do it to make it worth while it may be more, well, worthwhile. That and mark the map with each public quest so people go to them more often.

The combat itself was essentially boring as heck, at least with the classes that I played. The ones I got 20-35 were Swordmaster, Black Ork, Witch Hunter, and Disciple of Khaine; they all seemed to have the same exact combat feel to me. What I mean by this is that no matter what character I was playing I saw a "gain 5 acquisition" "acquire three stances in a row" "Do good plan, best plan, etc" etc... And then an execution of the points you got in terms of an ability that your class had. Fun.

I bought the game because I was a big DAOC player and PvPer but this game just seemed like a joke to me; I actually installed Tribe, Unreal Tournament, and Savage II and played them for days for much more enjoyment... I did that without saying that I was bored once while playing.

Though this doesn't mean that I'm through with WAR Online.... I may try it again a year from now to see if they fixed a lot of the problems that they have at the moment; it would be a big plus if they made it so it wasn't such a resource hog and I could surf online while playing despite what computer I am using.

I don't want WAR to fail; but I also don't want to waste my money on it when I wanted a good PvP and I could get a better experience from a free online game (before mentioned).

    Plain and simple..

All of the negative posts are from people dissatisfied with their current game, whether that be WAR, AoC, or WoW.

They, then reflect how they are feeling about their game.. onto WAR.   Some posts are legitimate. But the majority are disapointed fan boys of their reflective choice.. trying desprately to bring whatever new game to the horrid state that is their game.  Basically the week man who has to tear people down..

    Main Reason:

    • Fanboys hate Haters and Haters hate fanboys.
    • There are two kinds of people.
    • People that will hype a game in the begining.. hype it blindly.
    • People that are sour and bitter at being burned by false hopes and are skeptics and start to hate on a game thinking the hype will be false.
    • These people CLASH.. and CLASH so bad that they start to exagerate thier situations after the game is released to PROVE that what they have been saying the whole time was right.

I seen it with AOC, DNL, WISH, VANGUARD.

    Example:

Fanboy: This game is goign to be sandbox, all new ideas. This is the NEXT GEN MMO, YES.. DIE WOW DIE!

Hater: This game is going to BLOW.. I can tell already that the DEVS have no clue, they are ripping off WOW. Unoriginal crap!!!! I I bet it FAILS!!

I agree with the clashing part but I think there are more than 2 kinds of people.  There are posts which have legitimate concerns, constructive criticism and fresh ideas that could be incorparated into the game.

There are people who admit there are game issues and want them to be fixed and people who genuinely don't like the game for whatever reason.  I don't think these fall into either of these two categories of haters or fanboys as those two connote a fanatical obsession making them unable to register the bad and good respectively of the game.

I've seen quite a few constructive posts on the forums.  But you are right a lot of it is drowned out but pointless arguments, bashing and posting silly numbers for the sake of trolling and argument.  I don't see why these posts aren't shot down faster just as they are in other forums.

There are of course, a variety of reasons.   Some people just wish to share their opinions, good or bad, and those that provide reasons why they like or dislike a game are always valuable - even if one disagrees.

Others such as OrionMan, are desperate to do anything they can to drive subs over to AoC.   He may even be "AmazingAvery" for all I know.    One way to pick these people out - when you see a new member (such as myself - or him - someone who has only been on the board a few months or less).....check their post count.   If you see hundreds of posts in a short time period, you would do well to quickly scan their post history.   No one has that much to say worthwhile in a month. And adversely if you see a member with only a few posts, that could be a red flag as well - someone creating an account just to troll.  Neither is a hard rule, just a red flag.

As always though judge each post by its own merits.

We really should avoid even replying to threads from people like OrionMan - it's tempting to shut them down (which is easily done), but at the same time it gives them the attention they seek.   There are a fair number of intelligent posters on these board, and we'd be better off letting the trolls and moronic Xfire posts just fade to dust - don't even click on them or reply and they'll soon drop quickly off the boards.    A good disagreement can be a worthwhile discussion, feeding trolls only makes those conversations difficult to even find on the board.

Rewards from PQs are ONLY for your class, it is impossible (unless it's a bug) to get another classes item as a PQ reward (that includes both loot bags and influence rewards).
The combat itself was essentially boring as heck, at least with the classes that I played. You know, you could have tried playing some non-melee classes. Also, Swordmaster and Black Orc are mirrors, so of course they play the same. Also if you got to rank 35 (and a few others characters to rank 20) you couldn't be have been THAT bored.

While I don't disagree in general, or about some of the problems you pointed out with WAR, miss stating the facts and hyperbole really doesn't help your arguement, as anyone who knows any better will most likely simply dismiss you as a 'hater', completely ignore anything constructive you do have to say and in some cases flame you.

So yes, by all means, dislike WAR, point out the flaws, warn people that if they don't have a high tolarance for un-polished games they may want to hold off for a few months while at least some of the more serious issues are taken care of, especially if they are looking for a PvE MMO to replace WoW, but please, don't make s**t up just to make the game sound worse than it is, becuase all your going to do is get ignored, flamed and possibly even put someone off purchasing the game, for no good reason, when they otherwise would have.

I wanted WAR to succeed but they rushed the game out to get a jump on WoWs expansion. Big mistake.  You can feel the rough edges in WAR, nothing really clicks.  Bugs are rampant and WAR falls short.  If you want great meaningful pvp, there is DAoC, if you want great PVE with ok PVP, you have WoW.  WAR had the makings of being great but they got impatient and lazy.

I disagree... I don'tt hink most people want WAR or any MMO to fail. As someone said I think most of the negative reports are just people's dissapoint or "venting" Plus people may more attention to negative posts.. there have been tons of postive posts. Even if someone is fanboi maybe they are bias but it's still their opinion and they are entitled to it.

I dunno but I say why not give the game a few months to get things under control.  Sure there are bugs and glitches but realistically you cant expect them to fix it all right now.  I see alot of people bashing the game saying oh they had plenty of time to fix it in beta blah blah blah.  The game is BS they just release an unfinished crap game that we have to pay for now and its still only beta quality.

Well I say to all of  you, you have no clue what your talking about.  I was in beta and this game is constantly getting better and better.  And there are problems with the game sure but its not even a month old,  and there are problems now that didnt exists in beta and couldnt have.  Simply because you cant expect the game or servers to run the same when you beta with 50k people then on release you have several hundreds of thousands.  All sorts of new problems arise that you didnt or cant forsee simply because of the mass diference in player numbers.

What maybe you should pay attention to is the fact that this dev team has yet to let us down, they are constantly involved in the forums and they are fixing and updating 2, 3, sometimes 4 times in a week.  I cant say any other game out there has done anything close to that.  And for everyone that wants to use  WoW as the standard well I couldnt stand that dumb ass game when it first came out.  I got to level 30 and felt it lacked story the community was immature and rude overall and the game play itself was linear and shallow.  I actually stopped playing after i hit 30 for nearly 6 months.   During that time i never blasted the game i never trolled forums to talk shit I just gave them time to get things right.  I came back and actually enjoyed it once they started fixing the problems they had and yes even the great and mighty WoW had a ton of problems when it started.

So lets just give WAR some time to get things working before we start all this childish flames at a game that isnt even a month old.  I mean you dont scream and yell at your child when he is a month old cuz he cant talk or walk yet do you?  You gotta give them time to learn and adjust,  the same thing goes with MMO's you gotta give them time to learn and adjust to the player base.  And in all respect the dev team for WAR is hands down the most involved team i have ever seen.   They truly honestly listen to players complaints and ideas and try to fix and implement more and more of what they want all the time.  No other dev team has ever came close in comparison not even the glorious WoW team.

Then I thought about how pathetic it really is, and wanted to cry.  (Not really, but I didn't want to sound like a laughing hyena maniac, and then have to somehow cover for it in later posts next year.)  ROFL

    But in all seriousness....

Not everyone that posts comments and reviews about a game they played or tried, wants the game to FAIL.  I'm one of the people that plays WoW (among assorted other games, and I sub to three, actually).  I do NOT want Warhammer to fail.  I want people that LIKE that kind of game....to go PLAY IT!  It has created another OPTION for gamers of a particular playstyle, and THAT....is a GREAT thing!  It isn't the game for ME...I didn't enjoy it, for assorted reasons, BUT....a lot of people love it!  And I sure don't want games that I love to fail, so I certainly don't wish that on Mythic or the people that love Warhammer.

That being said....it's a good idea not to generalize and lump all critics of a game in to the "they don't like the game they're playing and are just jealous" (or whatever) category.  I try ALMOST every game that comes out that remotely resembles an MMORPG, because the variety of games is fascinating to me, and I like the new experiences.  I make comments both good AND bad about a lot of games.  It certainly doesn't mean I have ill will toward ANY of them.

EDIT:  The last paragraph is not directed at the poster that I quoted, but at a previous post that was making a poor assumption about people who have criticisms or critiques about games.

Why people want  WAR to fail ?

Ehm right question is why Warhammer fail ? Why they make something like wow without any inovations ? WHy they rape Warhammer world ? From such a base things like order (alliance)  destro (horde) sites  why make it without  world , and make only some zones (tiers) ?  Why is this game some kind of mmo skirmish game instead rpg...? Why there isnt something to explore , some zones , few dungeons etc. Why i dont see reason to hold castle or objects  ,when i retake it i got more renown . Why endgame sucks , siege main city , take rewards and then reset and again...  ? Why Why Why ..? and Why i write this reply , thats only one question i can answer , coz im really sad from this game . I laugh at many WoW fanboys when they say something like Phailhammer or War will fail etc.  But now after days of intensive war playing i recognize they are right..... WAR sux   (atleast for me)

I don't want WAR to fail but I didn't care for it. Since I found it boring, I didn't bother to play beyond the free 30 days. I guess with all the hype I expected a better game than WAR is.

You are playing a video game. By definition that means you are not hardcore.

Why people want it to fail?

People are haters, the game isn't for them so they try to bring the game down because the game that they play is getting boring or are waiting for a game to come out.  People are jaded as well, thinking about the good old times and wish that it could be like X game.

I look into the future and Ive played just about every P2P MMO since EQ1 and I love WAR. Maybe because Sieging is something new to me since I didn't play DAoC past the free trial. Is this game new, nope its parts of all my favorite MMO's with some new stuff added. and people just want something totally new and it wont happen.
