Thinking about trying it out. Worth the trouble?

This is probably one of the few f2p MMOs I have never tried. Ive heard 50-50 on "its a good game" or "its a bad game" But ive never really gotten reasons. I figure I might as well give it a go, but is it worth the trouble of downloading? Can somone tell me about it? The map size, charector customization, leveling up, things like that. Thanks.

Silkroad takes a long time.  A really long time.  Without botting, the game could easily take over a year to complete (completion meaning reaching the game level cap, 90, as there is no real story mode).

On the other hand, it's one of the most entertaining MMO's out there.  Compared to Guild Wars, Shaiya, or even WoW, I find Silkroad online to be endlessly amusing as it is frustrating.  The alchemy system can make or break your bank, and the hunter/trader/thief system is intense.  The PVP aspect of the game is incredible and the skills are awesome to look at.  But, if you're like me, and enjoy killing tons of monsters, the game features periodical "Unique Monster" spawns.  These unique monsters [Tiger Woman, Captain Ivy, Cerberus, Uruchi, Isyutaru, Lord Yarkan, and Demon Shaitan (shown in increasing levels and difficulty)] give you enormous amounts of experience points and unique item drops, though they can easily kill you if you don't play your cards right or if you're too low a level.  As far as character customization goes, the game offers about 20 different figures to choose from and many unique builds to create.  As I've said before, leveling up can be tedious and tiresome, but it's worth it.

Overall, I give Silkroad a 10/10.  It's for a dedicated MMO player who won't quit when confronted with a quest requiring the elimination of 1700 monsters (3x repeatable, of course ).  I say give it a try.

Oh, and if you DO decide to play it, create a character in the server Greece.  My character name is weapon555

Do not play this game.  Its basically just grinding until your eyes bleed and then grinding some more.  There are better games out there.

It used to be fun now its full of botters, you can hardly get into servers as it tells you its full then boots you out of the game unless its 1 or 2 in the morning.

The game is sort of fun for a while if you don't take it too serious. The reason you don't take it serious is because the grind will hit you like a brick wall.Early on there is some nifty things to do like try your first trade route and fight off the thieves, not too easy ,you need help usually. You can fight your first GIANT,it kinda looks cool ,after a while it gets to be ho hum.You fight kill after kill hoping for that real good drop from a giant, when you finally get it,the excitement is soon lost.

By time you get around level 35-40,you will see how bad the grind gets. You will literally be killing the EXACT same mob 500 times to get one level and nothing for it.The skills are upgraded every few levels ,some times a worthwhile skill may not be until another 5/6/7 levels and that could be a very long time.

The thing that EVERY game lacks is excitement into later levels.People will get bored if they have to do the exact same thing level after level after level. No end game raiding is not the answer and even if it were,Silkroad takes a VERY long time to hit end game,so you would have to bore yourself forever to get there.

The only reason i can see people playing this for very long,is the usual bragging rights that they can walk around with there level 80 or whatever and smack around or showoff to level 30 players. For most of us we couldn't care less and are less superficial than that, but MANY play for that reason only.

The ice bowman is a fun class to play if your playing the asian side.I can't even remember the classes on the euro realm,i think i played a mage type that had strong distant damage ,but i would die fast[very fast] in melee.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Having played this game since BETA, It is infact a good game.

Map size, Its pretty dam big. Beautiful areas and lovely to look at. Leveling up is a pain but it is worth it when your in pvp and being able to fight the stronger mobs. Character customization is O.K, the face and hair is all simple but the suits and armour has a very wide range since the item mall offers new outfits which look very nice.

Monsters, Amazing choice to fight and fighting a giant is fun, If you do start i suggest being a chinese becuase there more of a solo build.

Its worth the trouble if your just looking for a fun game.

    Waiting for Aion!!
