You got guns, you got girls, pirates, flying ships, flashing swords, and roller coaster action from page 1. The grandest of heroes, and the vilest of villains. All the greatest of the pulp fiction genre.
Red martians, white martians, black martians, yellow martians, and 15 foot tall barbarian 4 armed green martians, all with their own agendas. Four armed giant apes, and lion creatures with mouths the size of large suitcases. Mad scientists trying to take over the planet, and political conspiracies galore.
Through it all, our heroes quest to rescue their heart's desires, who often are pretty fair adventurers in their own fashion.
Wonderful books with everything any multiplayer game setting could want.
- How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
- I don't know, but some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?
Well, I like to see wars, and in that case gundam would be a great mmo since their theme is mostly wars. Also, I like the design of their mechas. Another would be Code Geass. Again, their team is war.
Off the top of my head, I would say: Battletech Earthdawn Heavy Gear Warhammer 40K (which I think they are working on) Dune Dragonlance Fantasy Western type 1920's gangsters Terminator (after the war)
Terminator and 1920's gangsters game would be cool. Maybe they could use something like The Godfather, for a gangsters game. Or maybe The Untouchables, you know the G-Men vs. the gangsters kind a thing.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!
Dune: This would work so well. Theres so much story behind it.
Gi joe: So many classes to choose from and a very easy bad vs good theme.
Command & Conquor: I mean come on everyone grew up on it and there would be so much here to do.
Like said before a very old prehistoric game would be cool. Mounts would be cool dinos. I guess you could have a magic type cave man, but it would be more on a "shaman" type caster. It would also be cool if the game evolved so that you actually get to contribute into discovering new things. Example "the wheel". Wait i got a name for it. Civilization Online.

A prehistoric game would be really cool. I wonder if a full dino game would work. Meaning no humans, players are the dinos. Maybe it could be called Primal Rage Online(As in the name of the old arcade classic.) or Jurassic Fight Club Online.

I actually think Harry Potter would make a fabulous MMORPG. Could have some really cool PvP encorporated in the game and a new way of skilling up characters. Something that is totally different than anything else that is out there right now. If only I had millions of dollars and a design team behind me, oh man my game would be dominant.
I want to see bleach as a mmo game. It has a lot of characters available and it does have a ranking system. from 5th seat to captain then to royal guards or the other way around from being a hollow to espada. They also have a alot of races humans, shinigami's,hollow, quincy, vizards, etc. This will be a fun game and I might say exciting.
The biggest reason you would want to base a MMORPG on a franchise is if you feel the MMORPG market is over-saturated and your MMORPG needs extra media attention. In light of the fact that only a few MMORPGs are launched each year it is foolish to cripple your ideas and design with pre-existing lore and nonsense.
Forget franchises and give us a good old fashioned mmoRPG. It's been about 3 to 4 years since anyone has launched anything slightly interesting - I mean even graphically interesting let alone gameplay. I guess Jumpgate and APB are the only games announced lately that are semi-interesting.
(Please don't bother blathering about "darkfall" until you're loading it onto your harddrive. I'd like to see it happen as much as you and if it happens, very nice - but until then shhhhh!)
You can't tell me that at this point in the MMORPG genre that they absolutely must have a Star trek MMORPG in order to compete with all of those other scifi MMORPGs around today.
I'm sorry to say it but SWGs biggest fault was that it was Starwars! If it had been anything but Starwars we'd still be playing PreCU right now. But oh no! A starwars MMO needs more pew pew pew! zoom zoom zoom! and in order to capture a larger audience deserving of such an illustrious IP lets make it more flashy and action packed! I'm surpised they haven't just re-skinned the old game and relaunched it under another title.
Does it really need to be Dracula or will any vampire do? Does it really need to be a Xenomorph or will any aggressive looking alien do? What the difference between the predator alien and the Hirogen from Star Trek? Think about it.
Rant off.

With games like Star Wars Galaxies that have been around for a few years now. Current ones like Age of Conan and Warhammer, plus ones that are on the way like Star Trek Online and DC Universe Online. What Media Franchises would you like to see made into a MMORPG? Me personally I'd like to see G.I. Joe and Transformers(Either the movies or G1) made into MMORPGs. Now its your turn to answer and discuss.
Wouldn't it be better you use your money in more brain and less in useless shit like stupid franchise. I'll take the film industry parralell, what would be better for you to buy the batman franchise and make a serie of the most stupid film known on Earth, or to buy yourself a small brain and make a real film, i don't know, like Blade Runner.
Also if you prefer to make shit, use Barbie online, if it is as shitty as their films you'll be on top of the no brainers.

Jamesbond? You have there different agents fighting off each other LOL. How about MGS MMO where you sniff each other out?
Off the top of my head, I would say:
Battletech
Earthdawn
Heavy Gear
Warhammer 40K (which I think they are working on)
Dune
Dragonlance
Fantasy Western type
1920's gangsters
Terminator (after the war)
As of now there is only one thing I wanna see as a mmorpg.
The Elder Scrolls series
I put it in big red letters. Maybe I have a little of luck and they make it.
X-Com Series
Resident Evil or Zombie Apoclypsetype of game
Fallout
Alien Vs. Predator Franchise
Civil War FFA PVP
Wing Commander
Master Of Orion
Star Control
ELITE
Neverwinter Nights
Redux Of SWG made correctly this time around.
Marvel Universe
Horror Themed MMO (extremely violent and noncarebearish)
Modern Day Themed Warfare MMO

Shadowrun, Steven Brust's Dragera setting, Shadowrun, Angel/Buffy, oh and SHADOWRUN. Curse microsoft for totally wasteing that IP.

Looking for a new game to play
The Fighters, its a collection of fantasy books written by different authors that focus on unique fighting styles and weapons.
Anyone know of any good scifi books?

Your post makes no sense! And SOE is already making something like it called The Agency, so please go back to PotC, Thanks!
Agree with Vahrane...
G.R.R Martins - A Song of Ice and Fire...truly epic. If I had the money I would buy the IP and make this game immediately.
As far as others mentioned...Dune would be a great setting as well.
None.
Rant on.
