I've just come away from watching the newest DF trailer located here: http://files.filefront.com/Darkfall+gameplay+trailerwmv/;11645449;/fileinfo.html and I must say that for the last few years I thought this game was a mix of hyperbole and vaporware but now I am most certainly intrigued. If the developers can take this video as a point of reference and even if they only pull off half of what is on display here then I think we could have one of the most accurate evolutions of the original design of an MMO since UO and EQ.

Granted, the graphics and animations weren't all that but I think this is one case were the core ideas could finally outshine such short-comings and I must say I am now really excited to see this game develop. Its probably one of only a few games I've ever watched thats given me goosebumps.

It's nice to know even people who used to believe Darkfall to be a myth/vaporware can give the game a closer look and actually come away with a different opinion. I've never believed the game to be Vaporware though have been concerned about whether or not it'll have enough of a fan base to survive against the industry giants. Now that you've hopped on the band wagon help spread the word so this project doesn't get over looked. There are many poeple in your position who just wrote this one off as either too good to be true or an outright lie due to its lack of media exposure thus far.

Whoa!  That trailer was a lot better than the last DF vid I saw.  I will have to keep an eye on this game.

yup after reading these forums, it is nice to see open minded people who can change their minds about a game that once did not inspire them at all.

definitely better than the number of haters you see in this forum that go around saying "well its not the game i currently play, so it must be crap"

I'll be keeping a close eye on it, along with Aion and any development on Bioware's MMO. Hopefully some exciting times lay ahead fo us.

I have only gotten to watch a small portion of the video but it does look pretty impressive.

The knockback affect on a number of those spells looks pretty cool. Could make for a very nice PVP tactic, like the guy blowing the other guy over the side of the cliff.

This game has a lot riding on it.  Not just in terms of its own success, but in where this genre will go.   If someone can make a game like Darkfall and make a lot of money for breaking the mold, then it could inspire other developers to try to innovate as well.

exactly. DF is the paragon of the anti-WOW-style-MMO movement.

let's all hope they don't fuck it up.

FFS YES! They must succeed! For the sake of future MMO's. If they fail... then what have we? I don't dare to go there. I see more instanced worlds with easymode and endless pointless grind with rushed launches.

Or just go back to the way it used to be where you have to actually play the game. That is all most people want .  A game not a mindless treadmill.

I just can't wait for DF. It's gonna be so awesome.

I just hope it's playable and not a buggy mess.  I know they say a lot of good things about it, but it's a tiny team on a huge project.  If they get it done though then I will probably lose my gf, social life, career, and any leftovers of hygeine that I have.  Looking forward to it :)

I've only been watching Darkfall for a couple of months now and the features alone are what draw me to it, i'm not big on open PvP due to previous bad experiences but this game is more than just open PvP and peaks my interest enough to at least give it a try.  Personally i'm hoping for a complex game over the mindless simplistic rubbish they pass out these days. I also agree that Darkfall potentially holds the future of the genre in it's hands and hope it does well. I'm watching out for 3 MMO's at the moment, Darkfall, Star Trek Online and Biowares upcoming game, if Darkfall falls short and turns into a mess of lies like AoC then my faith in MMORPG's will be lost forever, as will the money i pay for subscription fees.

Here's hoping Darkfall succeeds at even 40% of the promised features. (providing they are the worthwhile ones)

I’m thinking of freezing myself like Cartman did until Darkfall comes out.
