We don't actually know but it is pretty small. More then 3 for sure cause we have seen at least 7-8 people who are devs who have posted on the forums. How many they have is pretty hard to predict. But they have enough to be fixing bugs and adding content.
No, it's really more like 10 devs, plus QA, community relations, GMs, and general SOE support people.
arent the QA , community relations and GMs SOE shared resources? Not strictly VG staff.
No. VG has its own QA, GMs, community relations, and technical support. In addition, it has access to additional coding support from the general SOE staff.
With the current trend going on at SOE it is more than likely that team members are being moved or spending more time on other projects than SOE is lending coders to VG. There really isn't any way to tell now that the old sigil team has been moved into the same facility as the rest of the SOE team.

How can you know to speak with such surety? Are you privy to that sort of info? if so how?
Just as a rough guess, from my vague memory there was something like 80 people at Sigil working on VG, and since then the number has been halved twice. So I would have thought 15-20.

When did Glip leave? He was posting a followup on a question about gift items for fan faire just a couple days ago..
Im thinking IoD hasnt been a successful as they ahd hoped. 80% of the people on IoD are regulars I forsee more VG Devs going on to other projects soon.

Ack I see he just went to eq2 today.... Sad.
Originally there were 104 people at Sigil, around 45 after SOE bought the company and then down to around 18 after the second set of layoffs. That was the last known number prior to the Sigil site being absorbed into the main SOE offices.
It is sad really, because this game could have a better future than any of their other offerings.

And how do you know this? Do you have a resource?
We all know that EQ is the love child of SOE and it will always be. Lets hope they will fill the lost spots with (new) other people.

No resource other than what I see, read and hear on my server. Go read the VG official forums long time Vanbois are leaving, devs are leaving, numerous post about the lack of people to group with, numerous posts about the recent decline in dev communication.
well if a dev leave it doesnt necessary mean that he will not get replaced, sure to see "original" sigil devs to go to other projects is no good but that doesnt mean VG will not get new devs to cover their roles (even eq2 for example have probably a team quite different than the original one)
about the supposed failture of iod, actually i see new players around that tried out iod, or old one (launch ones) returning for the game.
the problem of grouping is mostly on some areas and certain levels as people tend to go in the popular dung, as TK for example, making it more difficult to find groups for... let's say a questline like cis. sometimes i play a bit with low level alts and generally have not much troubles with groups, maybe is not always possible to do "optimized groups" but lot of classes are pretty flexible and is not hard to put up a successfull group even with "suboptimal setups"
also i noticed there are quite a few new guilds on my server, some even "migrating" from other games (as aoc) and this is quite good as it show that actually new players are coming into the game and have fun in it.
sure there is probably less people around that at the launch of iod but we should not underestimate that a "big hit" like war just launched so is kinda natural that many people will go try it, some will return, some will enjoy war other new that dont like it probably will give vg a try in a few months...

Agreed. Sadly SOE have a bit of a hatred towards VG i think. It will always be the ugly step-cousin to the EQ franchise over there. I genuinely believe if they gave VG a bit of attention and some marketing dollars the subscribers would 'stick' this time, but I don't think it will ever happen.

The average weight of the Vanguard developement team is 328 lbs, so that makes them pretty large.

Fixed.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Yes. At least the QA group is a shared resource with EQ1 and EQ2.
It's a bummer that Glip left, but now that GU6 and IoD has launched their biggest development effort since launch is now over.
And how do you know this? Do you have a resource?

I've also heard they are raising the level cap to 52.
