Mentorship of Atlantica...

dt1984dt1984 Member Posts: 218

I am a level 48 archer as you can see in my avatar and i am currently mentoring 8 apprentices. Five of them are already above level 30 and are still under me and the rest of course are lower than 30.

Now,new players ingame are either alt characters, plaers form cb who started on ob late and the rest are new platers.

Now most of the nrew players only depend on their reseaches on the net and if i whisp them regarding mentorship they have a lot of doubts and questions in mind. Why they need it, what good can it give/bring them, etc.

Basically, this is a system created for the game to promote old players to embrace a novice to teach them the ways of the game. They somehow take care of the new player.

Now as a reward, the mentor gets prizes such as gold through mail.

Now its the mentors choice if they would give the prize to the apprentice or not.

Now what basically happens though is that High levels without permission sends a notification to low level players to either accept or cancell there request to become a mentor without even asking permission from the latter. Whta also happens is most of the low level players accept this request and end up getting nothing, not even some advice, some answers to questions and even no help whatsoever from the so called mentor.

At level 30, of the apprentice, the mentor gets the rewards without the apprentice knowing this. what's more is that i noticed that a mentor gets more points from activities done by aprentices who are at level 30 and above.

Why am i posting this, you ask? well, simply because i experienced the same thing. The only difference is that my mentor promised me 100,000 gold in return to being an apprentice but the promise ever happened. And so, i made sure on my end to do what Atlantica created mentorship in the first place. And now, i am a proud mentor with apprentices who later became part of the guild we have created and hopefully be able to acquire a town soon or do guild dungeons. Being nice ingame will not only give you a good reputation ingame but also will help you have a working guild and friends.

I'm just sharing my story of the game and how Atlantica has given me good memories and more to come.

My tip to you and for all looking for the mentor or apprentice out there, make sure that your mentor will aid you during your travel to reach level30... if he or she always there to guide you then eventhough your mentor doesn'y give you half of the reward t still worth it to have a mentor...

atleast your mentor plays an important role in your leveling up like helping you to your quest.. doing that for me is price less... 200k is not enough because they waster their precious time helping you in your quest...

Simply let a friend be your mentor, just ignore the random people. Or you can ask a guildie. I remember when I was like level 26, pretty close to 30 and i didnt have a mentor. When I go into a town or somwhere with a lot of people I would get all these whispers like, "BE MY APPRENTICE". They can be very straight forward . Thats when I decided and ask my guild leader to be my mentor so I would stop getting "spam" and give me the 200k when i hit level 30 .

They should just change it so that the apprentice gets the 200k, or maybe even change it so you dont need a mentor, like when you hit level 20 you get 100k( it was somthing like that). The mentor points should be enough, even though it has no use right now . Otherwise a lot of newbies will be getting pissed later when they realize this.

I have a similar experience to the OP. I got a mentor before I found a guild. My mentor said they would give me 80,000 gold when I reached level 30. I am level 34 now, and my mentor won't even reply to my repeated whispers or in-game mail. This is good warning to not trust the random mentor spammers. If I did it over again I would only let someone from my guild be my mentor.

sometimes its better to have a mentor in the game it guides you on every detail but the problem is most mentor doesent reply on you and ask hey how it going?? what level are you just to open an conversation. better watch out and be careful mentor can be your friend or a traitor so you better be and observant i know there are lots of mentors out there that was kind and not abussing.

One piece of advice, choose your mentor wisely!!!

HEHE how are you going to choose your mentor wisely if you do not know him/her?? its lucky if your mentor is your friend who does play always what if not??  because i know you need to pay your mentor after you reach level 30. some mentors is asking a deal that doesent fit the price of dealing.

there a thing that bothers me when im talking to my mentor or would be chatting, EHEM!  the reply box its too limitless it only fits one sentence, what if you have a dozens of questions because your really excited to learn on playing the game. i hope the chatbox improves.

Yeah this is good advice because they can be booted fro mteh guild or some other discipline if they dont follow through with the promises....I got a ton of tells when I was under 30 but was wary of all of them.......Finally I became friends with someone who was training me alot and he offered me all of the money saying he didnt need it and it would help me alot more....An hour after I hit 30 I had mail for 200k......Mentor systems are good in theory but I have never seen one work well in any game......Ideally the mentor should guide the trainee for several levels, help them with money and training, answewr their questions about the game, etc etc.......All too often players get taken by some random player who disappears and just takes the money when the player reaches the goal.

me too... 200k is a small amount of gold once you reach higher lvl... so dont stain your nama for 200k... mentorship is one feature of atlantica to bridge the gap between high lvls and low lvls, it is not designed to create profit...

yeah, i bet it is really easy to earn  oney when you get to higher levels. money is like nothing compared to anything else. i guess you must have the perseverance and patience on doing all of your quest. and don't get too much addicted on things like insignias for me... ive already spent 1.5M just on insignias alone.

    Being Teacher/Mentor

    Advantage:

    1) 200,000Gold when your student reach lv30. Good way to earn money.

    2) You can have multiple students.

    3) You get Points for later contents.

    Disadvantage:

    1) i didn't see one.

    Being Aprentice

    Advantage:

    1) You get good advice if Teacher is nice.

    2) You might get support if Teacher is nice.

    Disadvantage:

    1) He can be a bad mentor and don't help you.

You can't trade the mentor points now, but maybe they will put stamina pills again on npc for trade, just for put a correctly "price". or maybe they will put others items.

    I got a mentor at level 28

but i'm still friends with him, in the same guild, party all the time.  Technically he wasn't a mentore, since he was only 33 at the time lol, but still, we're good friends

I got a request from a mentor and accepted without knowing what that meant. I tried to talk to him, but I don't even know how to do that since I started playing today. I've gotten some skills though so I'm okey, but it would be nice to talk and get some advise, but he hasn't contacted me as far as I can tell.

  • impaktoimpakto Member Posts: 314

you can contact him by whispering to him.. maybe you can add him as a friend so you can easily contact him.. if you dont know who your mentor is, you can look at the community tab then mentorship and you can see who your mentor is...

i guess mentorship also helps the players in earning things specially the mentor points. but my concern is what are you going to do with the mentorship points? can you trade it for  something or its just there for the sake of its existence?

On what level can one mentor a new player? I am currently level 27 apprentice, therefore close to getting level 30 (which my mentor will receive gold and stuff). But my mentor wasn't helpful at all. I would probably cancel his mentorship to me since he wasn't helpful, and will find someone who will do help.

    Thanks for this post.

Once youve reach level 30 you can be a mentor... being a mentor has so many responsibilites... you must be a good mentor, try to help your apprentice  to have a btter grasp of the game, guiding them to their quest and helping them establish themselves in atlantica...

My only problem with mentorship is that when you accept to be a mentor it doesn't add them to your friendlist.  Maybe they could add an apprentice/mentor tab to the community menu.  I've forgotten a couple of my apprentice's names and forgot to add them to my friendlist  Sorry if it was anyone here, I got a horrible memory lol

But you can access them in the mentorship window... in mentorship window you will see your mentor and your apprentices, you can send whisper in mentorship window...
