if you get bored with warcraft try warhammer

i ve been playing warcraft on and off since it started and unlike some people in these forums i think its a great game . ok perhaps its not a hard core mmorpg but its a lot of fun and lets face it 9 million other people feel the same way . like any game the boredom has set in after a while and i ve played other mmos for a while like city of heroes ,eve ,the appalling vanguard and lord of the rings . lord of the rings is the only one i ve returned to on a semi regular basis .

with warhammer i ve so far found the game is the first viable alternative to warcraft . its certainly does have the fun and addiction factor and in some ways is actually better than warcraft especially if you like pvp . thats not to say its perfect . it does still need some polishing and a few glitches need ironing out .unlike conan its nothing so fundamental that it cant be fixed . the problems warhammer has are certainly no worse than warcraft had in its first few months .

although i intend to return to warcraft at sometime i will certainly alternate on a regular basis with warhammer (and lord of the rings to a lesser extent ), after all there seams to be 2 years in between the release of one expansion and another . its good that theres another strong fantasy mmo now . warhammer gets right more than it gets wrong in my opinion . maybe its not for everyone but if you are a little bored with warcraft you ll feel at home in warhammer .

Glad to hear you are enjoying a few games. I also played WoW for a while, but it eventually consumed all of my friends and in turn made them out level me by crazy amounts...(none of them have lives =P) so I quit because I couldn't keep up and it's just no fun to play an MMO with all of your friends but not be able to actually play with them.

I tried Lotro, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe it was too slow, or too clunky but something didn't sit right with me. Thats not to say it isn't a good game, it just wasn't for me. Alternatively, Turbine's other MMO DDO has been a personal favorite for quite some time and I still have an active sub to that.

Now I play WAR full time, and DDO part time and I am very happy with my choices depending on the day. =D

Variety is the spice of life!

I'd agree, but only if PvP is your gameplay style of choice.

The two games are distinctly different. I'd suggest that any hardcore WoW PvP'ers - the type that are constantly complaining about balance/gear/arena grind etc - go and join WAR.

    Please.

it is quite easy to get into the interesting pvp content in warhammer in that your not waiting till level 29(or whatever it is now) to actually play a battle ground type scenario . must say i m looking foward to seeing what the end game is like .

i would agree there warhammer and warcraft are similar in lots of ways but the emphasis in wow is inclined towards pve and in war its pvp .luckily for me  i like both ( obviously because i also enjoy lord of the rings which literally has very limited pvp in it ) .

    Hah.

Then after Wrath of the Lich King turns into the same grind fest, head back over to Warhammer when they release their first expansion.

Ah, the great circle of (MMORPG) life.

WAR and World of Warcraft = all the same... though seriously, if I go into pvp-addict mode, I'd rather play WAR than wade through the unbalanced trainwreck that is World of Warcraft arena. WoW = World of Warriors.

Are you sure it's not World of Rogues? or World of Resto Druids?

Lots of classes can be called imbalanced. The same goes for Warhammer, however. I will agree though, if I want only PvP, I would choose WAR over WoW any day.

Yep, I think WAR is going to be a good secondary game for many WoW folks.  I'll certainly treat it that way.  I had hoped it would be a WoW replacement for me, but after playing WAR for a while, I think I still favor WoW (I actually like the WoW PvE content).   I can easliy see setting aside 1 day a week to do guild city raids in WAR while spending the rest of the week playing WoW.
