Haters serve a purpose.... I browse these forums, and I look at the actual content of the complaints. When I see stuff like: "the box says there will be sieges and it's not in the game" ... or ... "I have computer X and it simply will not run" ...or.... "servers down again for the third time today". When I see this, then I think the game is probably not ready for prime time and I'm not going to buy it. But when the haters are all saying things like: "I don't like scenarios... I want there to be more rvr"... or ... "my character just isn't killing as fast as I want it to" .... or .... "the graphics in this game are just not realistic". Then I'm like, all subjective... think I will buy 4 copies and my 3 sons and I will play, form or join a guild, and have fun.... which is what I've been doing. Hate-posts, without anything substantive, are actually positive posts imo. And substantive hate-posts actually are a check against companies delivering crap. Either way, if you know how to read, all posts are good.
Once in a while you read a post like this, full of common sense (except the part about buying 4 copies after reading some subjective negative opinions).
LOL.... well, to each his own. For some, 50 bucks is like buying a hamburger to others... we are having fun for now. I've done the 4 account thing on several MMOs before. We play hard and have fun for 2-3 months, then we quit and do something else. Probably be the same with this game as well.
some people invest a lot of time in mmo's...some take it too far and invest a majority of their lives in an mmo.
so when a new mmo comes out, they must prove to the world that the mmo they have chosen is the one everyone else should play. WHenever a new mmo comes out, their game is at risk of losing population and starting a slow processes of decline. Often they have "one of the best characters" on their server. This is a huge investment for them, and a new mmo puts it at risk. SO they must do everything they can to spread negative information around in order to drive away as many people as possible.
remeber a failed mmo makes this kids mmo all that much better. It protects his investment that much longer.
its a pretty sad state to be in. this is what happens when you devote your life to playing these games.
i think this sums up a potrion of mmo fans that want to see mmo failures.
the remaining portion of these people are either commiting revenge trolling.....my game got trolled severly and so now ill do it to this game since it was probably fanoys of this game. or actual marketing employees of another, competing mmo.
eitherway the smart gamer will use sites like these to either stay in touch with other players, for news, for anything OTHER than getting player reviews.
if you go to any site for player reviews, and use those to base your decisions on what game to play your going to end up not playing any, because apparently every mmo sucks balls.

A lot of people who don't like this game are not playing any mmorpgs at the moment but would like to see games with new ideas being released not rehashes of old games.
Player reviews are the best method of ascertaining whether a game is worth playing or not for a lot of people. They are much more honest than reviews from the gaming media and you can easily see if you are likely to agree with the reviewer by checking which other games they like, if they are the same games as you then they obviously have similar taste.
How many people would visit a game forum that contained nothing but glowing reviews and gushing praise for every game on the market?
The negative posts are a necessary evil.

The most interesting question is not why people want any game to fail, but why some other people feel so threatened and hurt by what others feel?
I have numerous oppinions about various games but that's what they are, my oppinions. They should have little or no impact on your oppinion unless you're really unsure about how you really feel.
It's also about preferences and previous experiences. For instance, I have played a lot of City of Heroes and I liked designing new Characters. If that was my sole MMO experience and the element I liked the most and got me into the genre, Warhammer Online and most other MMOs would seem like drastic failures taking huge steps backwards in terms of user customization. If I came from World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online would seem identical in that aspect: Pick race, pick class, set a few tumblers, give name, ready to go.
It has to do with yourself more than anything else. If you enjoy something it doesn't matter what anybody else says. But on the same token, just because you enjoy something, doesn't mean the other guy isn't right. You can have all the fun in the world with Warhammer Online but if the costume-happy hypothetical "Customization-of-Character-is-KEY" gamer declares that the game has pathetic customization options, that is still true. Everybody is identical.
So, accept the truths, but don't let it ruin your fun if it's not important to you.
If you feel you have to defend any little slight, however justified it is, the problem is not with the people critisizing, but with you reading it.

I don't' ""WANT"" war to fail, its just after 4 weeks of playing it, its flaws have shown through... The first couple weeks of WAR was awesome, but now we have empty PQ's, Dungeons that are basically big PQ's, everyone is doing Scenarios so Open RvR is pretty much empty... PvE is pretty much a joke in this game... and don't even get me started on the pathetic crafting they have....
This game appeals to one type of player and that is PvP player... This game offers nothing to PvE players, unless you like doing boring Quests, empty PQ areas and Dungeons that are just PQ's themselves... There is no economy, armor and weapons are handed to you on a silver platter and you get more XP from doing scenerios then you do from questing.... So unless you just like PvP'ing all day long this game gets boring fast..
Fanboys hate Haters and Haters hate fanboys. There are two kinds of people. People that will hype a game in the begining.. hype it blindly. People that are sour and bitter at being burned by false hopes and are skeptics and start to hate on a game thinking the hype will be false. These people CLASH.. and CLASH so bad that they start to exagerate thier situations after the game is released to PROVE that what they have been saying the whole time was right.
I seen it with AOC, DNL, WISH, VANGUARD. Example: Fanboy: This game is goign to be sandbox, all new ideas. This is the NEXT GEN MMO, YES.. DIE WOW DIE! Hater: This game is going to BLOW.. I can tell already that the DEVS have no clue, they are ripping off WOW. Unoriginal crap!!!! I I bet it FAILS!! Fanboy: God shut up HATER obviously you don't know crap.. go back to playing WOW with the rest of the girls.. you wowwy wow player. Hater: What ever you blind hyper mc hyperson. Blizzard makes AWESOME products.. look at thier track record. This game is goign to fail!
AFTER GAME RELEASE: Fanboy: OMG BEST GAME EVER CREATED, ,I bet GOD is jealous. (I need to love this game or the last year of my life on these forums would seem foolish) Hater: BOOORRING, SAME CRAP, BUGGY >> LAGGGGG... wtf.f. I can't play.. MYTHICFAIL!! (I need to hate this game or the last year of my life on these forums would seem foolish) Fanboy: What are you talking about NEWB. Every game has bugs..where have you been. No matter what bugs you ever complain about they aren't that bad ever because they will get fixed.. so the game will always be perfectly fine no matter what. I WANT TO MARRY THIS GAME Hater: OMG.. GREAT JOB MYTHIC, Ironbreakers have KNOCK BACK, WE OP, crashes BUGS, CHARCTERS DELETED, LAG, FACES, TEXTURES, LIGHTING, EVERYTHING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111 arggggg I have to KILL MYSELFFFFFFF

Uh?
You say this game appeals to the PvP player, and "nothing to the PVE players, unless you like doing boring Quests" What exactly do PvE players like doing, PvP?
My friend if you like doing PvE you will not find quests boring!
It gets boring for you fast because you are doing PvP and prefer PVE but feel that you must level at the same speed as the pvp player, why you feel you have to do this is beyond me as you will not care competing against them anyway as you are in to PVE!
Why do peeps feel that they need to level as quickly as possibe? This kills the game for you, as once you reach top level your goal will have been met and you may well get bored.
Even this guy who doesnt like pvp, now thinks the game is boring since he is doing what he is not interested in, simply to keep up with the Jones and lvl asap.
Most don't have anything personal against WAR, the cause of peoples "I HATE WAR" remarks is most likely because when a new MMO comes out and it's popular server populations on other games begin to diminish for a time. People feel like it's hurting their game and so they get angry. Hence a win for WAR does not equal a win for all, if it became the next WoW imagine what it would do for the server populations of WoW and AoC, two games which people still enjoy playing.
For myself I dislike WAR, I'm not even going to finish my 30 days because I just got... well bored. I don't dislike it because it's terrible, the game is great and has had one of the best MMO launches ever. However, it just doesn't raise the bar in any area and doesn't provide anything new for me. AoC raised the graphics bar, WoW had raised the bar on UI and leveling techniques, and etc... However if you like it, play it. I really do wish people would stop their "I HATE WAR" or "YOUR JUST A EQII/WAR/AoC NUT" comments. WAR is a great game, but everyone has different taste.
Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...
Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift.. Currently Playing: Tera

Its CRAP like this is why people like you should be banned. How in the WORLD does THIS thought even come to your mind?
I'll play devil's advocate for a minute.

i want all medieval themed and fantasy themed mmos to fail so we'll start to see more sci-fi based ones, and hopefully sand box games too.
