Which MMORPG do you guys feel will take the cake?

RictisRictis Member UncommonPosts: 1,300

Hey Everyone,

There are a few MMORPGS that are available to us gamers right now.  Im going to list a poll and see which on you guys feel will win the tug for gamers.  Now all of these games are fun in their own aspects. And please comment on why you feel the game you chose is something that interests you. I just want to get an idea of what most of you are thinking in regards to the current MMO market.

*I myself am looking forward to Aion and am currently playing Warhammer.

I am enjoying WAR right now alot, but I am also keeping my eye on Aion because the game shows alot of promise.  We will see what happends...hell even WoW might make a come back if their expansion fixes the problems I have with it. Biggest one being the gear grind.

How can you make a poll about which game will take the cake, and only list 1 single un-released game?

If you are going to include un-released games, include the good looking ones like Earthrise, Fallen Earth, Jumpgate Evolution. If your not going to include them all, then don't include any.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

This. Except Darkfall definitely deserves a spot also.

(after all, it is #1 hyped even after the coordinated attacks against it!).

Well, I don't know if you tried alread Atlantica Online. IMO, they did a pretty good job in featuring a turn based system in a MMORPG. Also, their graphics is well defined too. So I guess it would be AtO. Just an opinion though.

    Yay for viral marketing alts.

Anyways, define "taking the cake". Imo, there are now quite a few games catering to different playstyles.

Eve is taking my cake (and time) away and eating it too for two years now...for other people, it will be something else.

But, if you ask which games will still be alive in let's say 10 years, so basically which are the most stable ones..well, i think war and wow won't.

None currently out. Darkfall will be the best, imho, but its not yet released. It won't have the largest amount of players, since people in general like things that are easy and lack skill (WoW), but it will have a good niche of players, and great gameplay.

    DARKFALL 09!

    Apparently 08 didn't make it :(

    Sorros of Forumfall.

    The cake is a lie.

Don't think it'll be WAR. People are already leaving because they're bored or fed up with the imbalance.

I voted WoW simply because it's a beast and gameplay aside, nothing matches it for sheer marketing power.

I would choose Darkfall as well...that is if they can deliver everything that they want to have in the game.

and Hillary Clinton would approve your sig if she was a gamer.

Why, oh why, can the clampits that post on this site not leave World of Warcraft alone? I've never seen so much bile and hatred for a game churned out over and over again on countless threads across the whole forum, it's repetitive, predictable and boring.

Firstly, most of these naysayers have probably had their day in the game, playing into the wee hours for months on end until the bloody thing has nothing left to offer them. They may be angry at it or disappointed with themselves for investing so much time into a game - but why rant at a game you've clearly enjoyed for so long?

Or maybe they haven't played it at all, they're just jumping on the haters' bandwagon and bashing it because it's the thing to do.

Or maybe they really do have fair and genuine gripes against the game - if so, please give it a rest. You've nothing to say that hasn't been said a gazillion times already about WoW.

The fact is that whether you like this game or not, whether you've played it or not, it's hugely successful and it's laid the groundwork for many of the MMOs that are on the market today. It has a massive player base, it runs well even on poor computers and it's very accessible to almost anyone. Why bash that? Why not say, 'fair play to you Blizzard, good effort' and save this tide of criticism for some of the absolutely shameful shite that's out there at the moment with the brass-neck to call themselves MMOs.

But for God's sake, give the WoW stuff a rest...

I agree. I don't think you should bash any game really. They all have their pros and cons. Criticism of a game is good, though. State the problems you have with the game, maybe give a possible solution, and get over it. I really don't understand why people have this need to bring down a game that they didn't like.
