The Chronicles of Spellborn: An Intro to Spellborn

StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

MMORPG.com Chronicles of Spellborn Correspondent Patrick S. Marshall writes this piece introducing players to some of the early concepts in The Chronicles of Spellborn.

If you are considering that sort of venture in the upcoming MMORPG The Chronicles of Spellborn, then you could use some hints on how your hero should look and what he should be capable of. TCoS offers a refreshing amount of innovations and some of them are obvious right away, as soon as you create your first character.

There are two races in TCoS, Humans and Daevi (half-demons). Before you wonder what difference there is between them, don't bother. There are none - at least not from the game mechanic side. SIL, the Netherlands studio that developed TCoS made a decision with huge a impact when they chose try to offer a game without restrictions based on class, race or other "mechanical" choices.

Read the introduction.

This game sounds really interesting. I've semi followed this game for a few years now, but always lose sight of it, due to there being no hype and the release being far off. However, each time I read something about the game, I am thinking this game will be great.

Seriously? Where did you get that info. The info on this sight is showing a contest to give away keys for the Beta. Surely this game has till next Spring.

They have been in closed beta for a long long time. I hope they release on 11/27/08 as they have pushed back time and time again. I also hope that those keys get you in game within 24 hours due to the rapidly approaching release date and no info on an open beta period. Open beta would defeat the purpose of keys anyway.

Despite many naysayers, once this game hits it could very well be the sleeper hit of the year.

Man, I just started WAR and I am loving it. November is too soon for me to quit WAR and I've learned it sucks to get into a game after release. Oh well, I guess I'll have to pass on this game. Glad a developer created a game like TCoS, and I hope it's successful. We need more innovative thinking, like the developers of this game displayed.

The game will have a free-zone (not trial) for tryouts. And after you subscribe you will be able to play with that character(s).

I was wondering. Isn't SIL the owner of the game, while the company that developed TCoS was Khaeon in the beginning and later a seperate company called Spellborn Works? Not saying that because what was said was wrong, but in the hope you might know more and shed some light on this construction and on who is actually developing the game.

Anyway, the game is indeed scheduled for release on November 27, 2008, but we all know how it goes with mmorpg in general and mmorpg's developed by indy companies in particular.

Not a trial...so to speak....but a Free to Play area.

So...you get to download a portion of the game for free and get to play a part of it for free....before you make the actual purchase.

This is similar to the Starter Island in EQ2 and the Trial Island in Vanguard.
