Greetings, MMORPG experts! As my topic title says, I'm looking for a fun MMORPG that's conducive to a lot of solo play, and I hope you can help me. Below is more detailed information about what I'm looking for and why.
SOLOING: I can be sort of introverted in my gaming - I do like to find friends to group/guild with, but as I'm a bit picky about who I befriend and who I can effectively group with, I need a game that can be enjoyed with a lot of solo play.
GRINDING: I don't mind light to moderate grinding, but I get bored of constant 'kill 50 monsters, now go here and kill 20 monsters, now go there and kill 100 more."
QUESTING/CRAFTING: I enjoy quests and puzzles. I also enjoy crafting, but a game doesn't have to be craft-heavy for me to enjoy it.
PVP: I like PVP in moderation, but I'd like to not have to worry about getting attacked constantly. I play games to de-stress, and sometimes I just want to explore the game world without having to fight other players every 10 minutes.
FUN ATMOSPHERE: I don't want something too gory or "heavy." I like fun fantasy games with interesting backstories. Again, I play games to relax ... no dark post-apocalyptic worlds, please.
PRICE: F2P or P2P doesn't matter to me. I'm willing to pay good money for a good game.
OTHER: I don't have a souped-up gaming computer by any means, so I need a game that will work well on an average PC (running Windows XP). I enjoy good graphics and character customization. I played WoW for a few years; I enjoyed the characters, stories, environment, and gameplay, but I just couldn't solo grind my way to a good level. I played Dofus for a couple of years and really enjoyed the fun atmosphere, quests, and conduciveness to solo play, but I got burned out on it after a while. I've tried MapleStory and Trickster but couldn't get into them.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Guild Wars is very solo-friendly with Nightfall. Quests are pretty relaxed too, and there aren't that many Kill X quests (if any). The PvP is as relaxed as you want it to, RA (random arenas) is very relaxed, while HA/GvG is ... elitist territory.
Only downside is that it doesn't have a craft system, not that I ever missed it, as Guild Wars isn't gear oriented.
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
Here, try this F2P text based game that just gets better and better the more you play!!! It's called Fallen Sword! Join Here----------> http://www.fallensword.com/?ref=1922261
I suggest trying Wizard101. It does have kiddie type of graphics, but it has gameplay different from other MMOs that you might enjoy. You are able to solo, there is quest grinding, but you have to do quests in order to get to the next world. I don't think it has any crafting. You can duel in specific areas. It's F2P and you can get to level 8 before you have to pay to open up more content in order to get higher in level.
There's a small review and a bunch of screenshots of it on my website if you'd like to read more on it.

A work in progress: (Update: 08/09/10)Easily find your favorite type of MMO
Play Atlantica, Cash shop will be 100% optional (Mostly used for making travel across the Enormous world much quicker). Old school Final fantasy turn base battle system makes the grind invisible. I also like that in only 1 day of playing I am level 21/100. So the Grind is not to bad. The quests are WAY more than just Kill X number of Y mob. The only bad thing I got to say about it is the graphics are WoW style if wow got stripped of all detail and volume of textures. But if you rather have fun than look at a nice picture play Atlantica, Trust me, I was a big Graphic whore as well with Sword of the new world..but the god damn game is so boring! Its not worth it even with its beautiful graphics. So Atlantica even with bad graphics I think is better.
