Latency issues, poor framerate.

Hello, how are all of you doing? Me... Frustrated. Let me start off with I'm not a gamer, I barely know anything about PC's and their components/how they work. But what I do understand is; my PC is awful. 1gig of RAM, AMD Athlon 64 bit processor(2.01GHZ), RADEON x1300(yes, I still use AGP) 512 MB of graphical memory... Even though it's a lot of big words and numbers, it runs like death. I'll experience 3 seconds of smooth gameplay until the lag fest commences. And RVR? Forget about it! I don't even know where I am or where I'm going to end up half the time.

So, I went to canyourunit.com and it said I can play over the minimum requirements. Though, I noticed that my RAM was barely passed minimum, so I wondered if a RAM upgrade would improve it. Before I buy anything I want to hear from you guys; will buying a gig of RAM improve my WAR performance? And yes, I already turned on AA and AF, I also did all of the other techniques...Nothing. So, in advance, I appreciate all of the help. I hope this thread serves as help to others, and that my shitty PC can be the example for other shitty PC's to follow. Thank you,

Arnoagns.

"canyourunit" is useless...you need to upgrade everything in your PC, basically you need a new pc.

I bought a thousand dollar notebook for my wife. With 1GB of RAM it was a slideshow from hell, unplayable. Bumped it up to 4GB and Warhammer runs beautifully on balanced settings.

RAM is dirt cheap, you might as well give it a try if you don't have the cash to buy a whole new computer. Even if it doesn't help you're not going to have lost very much at all.

Depends on your operating system.  If you are running XP you should be fine with 2gigs.  If you are running Vista I would recommend 3.  You will definately see a performance increase by upping your ram.  Also make sure you have nothing running in the background.

I would also look into using the addon BuffThrottle (I believe that is the name).... just installing that addon increased my performance 10 fold.

I am running a Quad 6600 and 8800GTX with 4 gigs of ram and I am still having lag issues.

Unfortunately its the code. There is no way a game with these graphics should be the memory hog that it is.

    Waiting for the next thing

Bottom line: You need a new PC.  You can get a decent low end gaming rig from Dell for under $1200 and if you want to spend a little more a great mid-end rig for under $1700.  Money well spend if you are interested at all in playing any of the more recent games being released.

Dell is selling a desktop for $279! 2 gigs of ram and 250GB hard drive and it has a Nvidia6500+ graphics card (i think) but its def bang for your buck!

Even with the fastest PC out there, there is some gameplay lag in the game. It's becoming more and more annoying for me.

Lately, it's not uncommon for me to experience (what seems to be) a two to three second lag in-game,  Or at least my timers are lagging.  Example: I'll cast a three second spell. The spell casts (I see the animation), about 2 secs later, the timer bar goes off. I then try to cast another spell but it seems to have to wait for the timer bar to complete which in turn turns out to be a full 3 seconds after the animation has completed.

I've also noticed delays in damage, etc...

So there is some sort of definite lag going on with the servers.

Ya, thats why I can't play on High quality. I have 3 gigs of ram and a pretty good graphics card and I have a crapload of space left on my hard drive, actually War is the only thing I have on my laptop. But anyway, maybe we should all just get T3. =D I guess everyone/most people just need to play on the "faster framrate" settings I guess.

I play on HIGH settings with ZERO problems.  Also, please define, "pretty good graphics card."  LOL !!

Dual core w/8800gtx and 3 gigs of ram and runs flawlessly.

Sorry, your problems must be your poor computer management. Defrag and stop running torrents in the background while you play.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

Appreciate the help a lot guys. Bought myself an AMD 4.0 GHZ processor, 2gigs of RAM, and a card with 1gig of graphical memory. Thankfully my power supply will be able to run it. So, hopefully this will improve my game latency a TON. If not in warhammer, atleast maybe in other games, eh? Oh, and yeah I do run XP. Vista is god awful and Bill Gates hell spawn. Once again, thanks a lot guys, I hope this thread has helped some of you.

PS They said they are going to be working on making WAR more adaptable for lower end computers in the upcoming fall patch/update.

Hope, so, cuz my machine isn't exactly low end with a Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHZ, 3 GB RAM, and a Sapphire 3850 Video Card with 512 VRAM, and I get some lag even with the InfThrottel and Buffthrottle addons from curse.com.

By the way, a lot of people have raved about those 2 addons, and I have to admit, although I still have a little, it isn't nearly as bad as before. So for anyone who can't upgrade their computers give these 2 addons a try.
