maybe it will come out, maybe it wont, i think the real question is whether people on this forum have heard about DF. It will become a great MMORPG where anything is possible, and you dont half to worry about linear gameplay or "zones" which is what makes up for 99% of what huxley is. But to make my point valid, huxley just doesnt look that great, it took some good graphics, and basically downgraded what planetside "used to be" and made a game with fancier shooting and worse gameplay/amazingness. Its truly sad that any MMOFPS could be made like this after planetside came out. I guess unless planetside2 ever comes out, no MMOFPS will ever dethrone it. too bad, oh well back to loving the possibilities being endless on darkfall.
To pay for play, or pay not for play, that is the question.
I saw a lot of pics there, but realistically,do any of those back drops interact with players?Or are the buildings just there to fill in space?I see this all the time in cheap console games and even cheaply done PC games, but if they want respect from gamers that know what it takes, they better have done more work than making some squares and sticking a texture on it.
I want to see buildings with elevators/lifts /doors that open and close, there are many other subtle touches you can do,that don't even take a lot of work.I can teach a noob mapper how to make plain buildings fill in an area,in about 1 day.
I will back this game a long way, because i love the unreal engine, and i sort of like the ideas of Huxley, but if it looks like amateur developers put it together, then it hits the vapourware heap for me.The bulkiness of some of those player models ,look like they were actually ripped right from unrealT,with new textures pasted onto them,IDK maybe i'll give them some credit and assume they built those models themselves.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

IRVINE, CALIF. – June 2, 2008 –It’s official. NHN USA, a subsidiary of NHN (KOSDAQ:035420), the largest Korean Internet company, announced today that it has secured the rights to publish the long-awaited Huxley in North America and Western Europe. Bringing online gamers everywhere closer to the chance to exercise their fragging skills against thousands of other players in the first twitch-action massively multiplayer online first-person shooting (FPS) game Huxley, the online shooter is slated to arrive on the PC via ijji.com in late 2008.
The game itself is mostly in english, the ui is not. So i doubt it will be very hard to translate it, since it was designed to be sold in the usa. Webzen also uses a webstarter program like ijji.com does.
watch this VIDEO at 2:00 there will be a tour of a city all the buildings are in english.
(ignoring the ui and names find one non english word) Next time try asking when it will come out, you will get nicer replies.
I was watching that VIDEO. The city areas looks pretty cool and visually stunning. But...the game play, that kind of turned me off. It's almost just like Unreal Tournament, from weapon's effect, the jumping into the air moment, to the maps. Don't get me wrong, I think UT is cool with all it's glories...but since this is an MMO, I would preferred that it was more like teambase gameplay...kind of like BF2-2142 and Planetside (or even Tribes2), with each person playing a role in their team or squad...but with Huxley graphic and settings. Or maybe it is, I couldn't tell from watching the video.
Kind of disappointing actually, after a long wait for it.
Awesome.... Wonderful.... Now what about the 360 version???!!?! >.< Jeez. The 360 was made for playing FPS and an MMOFPS is perfect for it, and they're going to cancel it? *will kill*
PCs were made for FPS games. Consoles suck at it.
I beg to differ, as much as I would like to agree. Do your PC and PC games support 4 player split screens for online and offline multiplayer? Didn't think so. Do you feel like carrying your updated hardcore desktop everywhere you feel like doing some lan crap? Didn't think so.
I'm sure there is a program out there that some punk made for the hell of it that would actually split your little 10inch monitor screen into 4 squares, while a hack to play more players in your bf2. Yeh... I'd love to go through that trouble.
The whole 4 player split screen argument doesn't work since none of them support 4 player split screen anymore(except Halo). Besides, who cares about 4 player split screen when you can play against much more people online?
Split screen is for screwing around with random friends. It's Wii stuff. Try it without the cocaine sometime and you'll see how dull it really is. You're rarely going to find yourself playing alongside or against skilled players, if that's what you want, and if you aren't very skilled you won't be with a variety of players so you can find a niche and learn. It also removes sound effects from the experience along with any chance of satisfying stealth activity or surprise attacks.
Judging from the video, Huxley will be right at home on a console. I had hoped for a modern, polished, perhaps even fun answer to Neocron; an MMO that happens to be 1st person and where you might find yourself fragging around, if the situation calls for it, with the benefit of graphics and netcode that can actually support twitchy gunplay fare.
This looks like a standard Korean MMO, complete with wrong footstep animations and comic book tough-guy avatars, that turns into an FPS once you leave town (i.e. teleport to a jungle somewhere), no doubt by virtue of a forced conflict centered on progress bars, a scoreboard, and let me go out on a limb here - a glowing, arcing nuclear reactor floating three feet above the ground, because where else do you keep a floating nuclear reactor? Watch out, when that thing blows it's going to take out a chunk of Neo Seoul bigger than your kitchen.
I'm reinstalling Neocron right now.

Funny to think the koreans playing this game are bashing the hell out of it on there forum sites.

Ryman ,
Are you serious right now?
PC INVENTED FPS for gods sake. Quake, Counter-strike, Unreal Tournement... any of these FPS's ring a bell to you?
It is a FACT that mouse+keyboard controls in a FPS are more accurate, which is why the PS3 is including it in it's new FPS games.
Even a noob on mouse+keyboard can melt the face off any controller carrying wannabe.
Anyway it just boggles my mind that Xbox can drop Halo (which is no doubt a nice FPS) and now all of a sudden the entire FPS genre has been reinvented and consoles rule the FPS circuit. Seriously?
Um who really cares about split screens? Last I checked REAL fps players wouldn't share their frag space with 3 other idiots. REAL FPS players use that entire screen to own your face.
If I want to play with 3 other people I use a router and tell them to bring their own shit over to the house. TRUE PC gamers don't worry about how heavy their box is, they just pick that shit up take it to a LAN and own face.
So get outta here with your split screen my Xbox rules the day garbage. PC owns FPS genre and always will. PC > Console.
PS. No gamer uses a 10inch monitor. If they are they have no business playing games on a PC. Mine is 32inch and I won't split it 4 ways.
*Cracks Fingers*
Hey, Punk.
Well, actually if you really want to get technical PC didn't invent FPS. Also, PC invited the best of the best FPS games in the 90s, way to state the obvious there dipshit. Now to bring you into reality, Console gamers out number PC gamers as of right now. If it was sooo true that PC makes the best FPS games, then they would obviously be the most popular, which they are not. Consoles right now are dominating PCs in every aspect to the point that PCs are pigeoned holed into the MMORPG genre.
Any idea how this came about?
Could it be the casual level of consoles? Uhuh.
Could it be the ability to actually split screen and play multiplayer with actual people (sowwie, we have social lives)? Uhuh.
Could it be the ability to play online without getting hacked to death and playing on a shitty ass server? Uhuh.
Could it be that we don't want to download viruses off of potentional maps of content and other wannabe map makers? Uhuh.
Could it be because we rather have the ability to have Voice Chat over a game that was created soley for voice communication? Uhuh.
Could it be because I can play my game at full graphics without a single update of hardware while your piece of shit is barely making ends meet? Uhuh.
Could it be because all new PC/Xbox 360 games that come out now are completely made for the Xbox 360 first then they are ported to the PC? Uhuh.
Could it be because the console is actually portable and not a piece of shit like a gaming laptop? Uhuh.
Could it be because all of my games are tested and must meet expectations before they touch my console? Uhuh.
Could it be because the actual innovating new FPS's are created only for the Xbox 360 and not PC? Uhuh.
Could it be because I can easily hook up a surround sound system to my Xbox 360 just like any other entertainment item? Uhuh.
....and etc.
You see just off the top of my head, consoles have a breath of full advantages. You here are talking to a veteran of gaming, my career is a game developer, trust me I've played them, loved them, and studied them. It's a thing of a casualness and to be honest, you just sound a cult hugging sheep of the herd that passed years ago. Don't you think it's time to you know, adapt? I thought that's how technology went, I don't know must be me?
I also find it hilarious that you place yourself into this "True Gamer" scenario as some elite geektart. You sound like some preteen dillhole with a mouse stuck up his ass. Do us a favor and lose weight...mkay?
Retarded Panda avatar, by the way.
...and thus the reason why I don't buy into FPSs anymore.
>download viruses off of potentional maps of content and other wannabe map makers
Or something.
You're not just taking this really personally, you're also deeply concerned with your fellow gamers' safety, and we think that's super. Don't worry though buddy, no one's going to take away your feet-up white collar fun. Lord knows it does no harm to your status as a social beast to have friends over then spend the evening playing shooters and lolling into a headset.
By the way, did you know there are forums on the Internet where this sort of lively debate is appropriate and even welcome? Try 4chan for starters.

i just hope this game comes to the usa soon becouse i cant seem to register and try to play the kerean or how ever u spell it game... owell hopes and dreams
The fact that the fights are gonna be in a seperate place kinda killed the hype for me. Its pretty much just playing Unreal Tournament but after the match you get to run around the a city a bit and do some shopping and make your guy look cool.
At first when I heard about this game I was like "FINALLY! A freeroaming MMOFPS!" I was thinking of all these cool attacks me and my guild could do on an unsuspecting enemy city and this time we wouldnt have to worry so much about gear since its an FPS gear helps a lot but the best gear is worthless if you can't shoot to save your life or if your enemy is just better organized than you are.
But alas its not... I wonder when they will ever make a game that I described...
Awesome.... Wonderful.... Now what about the 360 version???!!?! >.< Jeez. The 360 was made for playing FPS and an MMOFPS is perfect for it, and they're going to cancel it? *will kill*

umm your also wrong son... oh and i should add consoles are just as hacked as PCs. people create aim and wall hacks along with automatic cheat enabled devices to use cheats in any game... your argument is flawed to such an extream that i cant even fathom how you think you know jack about anything...
PCs created the video game field after the EARLY systems (atari.. com-64.. ect.) created the gamer field.
Pcs created FPS. during a time of simple web based gaming (text games anyone?) course that was During the dialup/28.8 modem days... where you had to kill your phone to play online.. and lag... HAHAHAHAHAH weeee a 200ping in a fps is nothing compaired to that era...
the Xbox is built by a PC company.. (microsoft created most of the computer tech...used not all but a large amount used for games..)
so your argument that consoles beat PCs is flawed right there. consoles are built from PC tech to allow novice players the ability to play FPS games.
try playing a real FPS with a KB+mouse and we will see how poor you do. a controller is for lazy people.. hell i fly planes with a mouse and keyboard.. instead of a joystick.... lulz.. (ohh that little stick on your controller.... is based off a PC joystick... for flying... FYI....)
consoles cant beat PCs on gaming. they can only match it. simply do to the fact PCs are upgradable.. you have to fork out money every time you want to upgrade your console..
sure a $600 console is cheaper then a $2k desktop PC BUT... i would rather beable to upgrade my system each month with a newer video card then wait many years for a console to come out with better graphics..
try playing PS games on a PS3.. the graphics suck.. but rock for the time.. on a PC you could upgrade the graphics to be crisp and clear they wouldnt need to make a PS3.. just make a newer video card.
that being said. im both console and PCer. i love my PC but some games play better on a console as the controller is smaller fewer buttons... BUT a PC i can customize my controls better..
oh and FPS are created for PC first then ported UNLESS the FPS is ment for a console... like halo. it was built for the Xbox. then added to PC. CoD was built for the PC then ported to the xbox... see.. how it works.. good games go to PC crappy noob games go to console.. lulz
and i highly disblieve you are or ever were a game developer other then some noobish Mod dev... cause a true developer wouldnt waste time insulting people on a game site.. dealing with PC vs Console arguments and using rude language they would have more important things to do... i know.. i have a buddy who works in the mmo-game field... hahaha
the only nice thing about console is they can use a HDtv 42" tv... ofcourse if i fork out the money for a video card i can too.. but im too lazy
as for huxley it looks cool, but i fear its going to be like Gunz online and other FPS.. with one over powered noob cannon and way too much bunny hopping..
Oooooooh! I used to have the PC verses console arguement with a buddy of mine back when I was in college. We'd get messed up and argue all night about it. My thoughts were that PC's were better cuz of the graphics. 1024 x 786 beat whatever the TV res was hands down. But recently with HD comming out, and everybody having super huge big screens I dunno anymore. Afterall all a console is is a computer chopped down and made to do one specialized thing. I figgure it's able to do more with less. Most of the major components are hard wired instead of being addons, and the OS is way smaller and lighter so games run faster. It's a fun lil chicken and egg arguement. mmmm.. great stuff

I thought that's how technology went, I don't know must be me?
I also find it hilarious that you place yourself into this "True Gamer" scenario as some elite geektart. You sound like some preteen dillhole with a mouse stuck up his ass. Do us a favor and lose weight...mkay?
Retarded Panda avatar, by the way.
...and thus the reason why I don't buy into FPSs anymore.
lol Golomin you get so angry about his post that you attack his avatar.. haha. nerdrage is awsome.

Atlantean, Tyranny, Malton
i just hope this game comes to the usa soon becouse i cant seem to register and try to play the kerean or how ever u spell it game... owell hopes and dreams
Ryman ,
Are you serious right now?
Don't you think it's time to you know, adapt? umm your also wrong son... oh and i should add consoles are just as hacked as PCs. people create aim and wall hacks along with automatic cheat enabled devices to use cheats in any game... your argument is flawed to such an extream that i cant even fathom how you think you know jack about anything...
It's a fun lil chicken and egg arguement. mmmm.. great stuff
Yeah Duke Nukem Forever... forever to come out.
