I just found out about this game and it looks really intresting. After reading some articles, I'm wording a couple of things

1: How much sadbox content is avaible in the game

2: Is it true that PvP servers won't be avaible at launch

3: What exactly is avaible for a hardcore PvPer

4: Is the combat active, or is it point and click with global cool down as it somewhat appears.

    1. This isnt a sandbox game, never has been, and never was intended as one. So if you play the game dont be disapointed if it turns out very liniar.

    2. They will have FFA PvP servers at launch, PvE servers, and RP servers I believe have been confirmed.

    3. For hardcore PvPers this probably is not the game for you. For a casual PvPer theres the FFA servers, PvP zones, and an arena that will allow for 1 v 1 fighting, theres probably dueling as well but I havent seen that confirmed.

    4. The combat is a system where you aim everything. You click on the spells on your rotating skill deck and then aim them at the target. You can dodge attacks, theres no dice rolls in the sense that when you attack a target you will hit it if its in your reticule it will not randomly decide based on stats if you hit the target or not.

It is a not a point and click game, its WASD, with your mouse to aim, and the number keys to select spells.

    Hope that helps.

1: I know its not meant to be a sandbox game. I was curious what sandbox elements the game has such as guild cities that are attackable, player created houses, shops, tarvens etc

3: Why isn't this the game for the hard core PvPer? Is there not a GvG system, PvP rewards, etc in the game?

4: Point and click was a bad discription. What I should of asked was is the combat system is auto attack like WoW, WAR, and GW or is it active like AoC and DDO. I like the idea of not having dice rolls, but does this mean that every attack lands or is there a way to block, parry, or evade attacks.

Edit: Besides the rotating skill bars, the game appears to play a lot like GW? Am I right?

I don't know any sold games that have come out in the last 3yrs that have not been WASD.

    1. As I said theres not really any sandboxs elements in this game, it is about as sandbox as WoW is at end game with regards to what options you have to do, but that is not really sandbox at all it is still liniar.

At launch there will not be guild cities, player housing, RvR in regards to the shard conquest. I am not sure about taverns, but there will be shops, a crafting system where you can put together sets of gear that you see mobs wearing.

The game is going to be pretty basic at launch, I believe they want to get the core mechanics working first. From what I have heard they want to add more choice in what you can do in the game later on. Such as shard conquest which is some form of RvR apparently.

    3. I would say its not for hardcore PvPers due to the game being primarily PvE, there are PvP options but they are limited. As far as I know the reward for PvPing will be rare resources used in crafting, and the PeP system. Either way it is still a fairly tacked on PvP system, I would not think that a hardcore PvPer would be interested in such limited PvP options. About as hardcore as it will probably get in terms of PvP in this game would be these FFA PvP servers they are adding.

As mentioned at launch the arenas they are adding are only 1 v 1, theres PvP zones, and a FFA PvP server that is it. They plan to expand it however, but all that has been mentioned in regard to this is Shard conquest, increasing numbers in arena with some kind of rating system, and perhaps later on mounted combat which I suppose could be counted towards a good PvP addition to the game.

    4. Sorry I thought you were asking if this is a point and click game, that is more action oriented.

As mentioned it is a FPS like system, you aim, dodge attacks, I am pretty sure there is no manual block however, I have never seen it mentioned or shown so I believe it is only dodging and aiming spells/attacks which is still better than turn based combat :).

I believe the actual aiming in this game works by having your reticule on the target at the time of the attack, once it is launched it will hit the target if you are aiming at him at the moment your spell launches. You can dodge the attack if you move out of the way when he is trying to aim at you, but only before the attack launches. If you do not move out of the way before the launch of the attack it hits. Theres a article somewhere that explains this system, I believe it was clarified a couple of months ago so should not be to hard to find in their archives of news.

I believe the similarity between guild wars and Spellborn would be that you can only have certain skills on your skill bar that you choose, you can pick different skills outside of combat to put on your skill bar a bit like how you change spells in Guild wars towns, I think you can only have 8 spells per bar like guild wars as well.

I think that is all the information they have officially released on the system. They could of change any of this though in their beta, so we will have to wait and see till next months open beta :)

Yes and no. You could call the regular servers PvE, but they are actually PvE/PvP. Yes, FFA PvP servers were announced for launch. No, no RP servers were announced for launch or any other time in the future.

just like "Gods and Heroes" was going to be

that's Spellborns main problem - it is not nearly complete enough to launch - but at least it will be free to try so if this very basic game is good enough for you to pay for then there shouldn't be any complaining after you do

All of its core gameplay features are intact and at a very high level of polish.  There is nothing half done about it, all the pve content has been fleshed out for end game, the combat system works flawlessly, and all the secondary systems (crafting, mine pvp, arenas) are polished and launch ready.  Its a solid base that will last you well past the introduction of all the "sandbox" features. lets just say more quests and features than wow had at launch.
