So I need to order a new computer rig. I lack the knowhow to build my own so will order a XPS 630 Dell model unless someone has a better recommendation for price.

Intel dual core E8400 6MB 3.0 GHz 1333FSB

4GB dual channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs

either a single nVidia GeForce GTX 280 -1042MB or dual nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB

and either a Killer NIC K1 gaming network card or AEGIA PhysX physics accelerator

Opinions please?

Drop the aegia physx card <<this company was bought out by Nvidia.

    Go with only one videocard,

OK making your own computer is so easy. YOU CAN DO IT.

However, if you must order .

ONE AEGIA PhysX physics are not neeed in 1 or 2 months nvidia cards (even older cards should have these options) WILL BE THESE + A REGULAR GRAPHIX CARD.

Two you don't need Killer NIC K1 gaming network card , but whatever.

Three i like duo cores, but its hard to say no to quads (duo are better for older games, WAr is acctually at least 3 threaded and maybe 3.5-4) So its your call here.

the single 280 is a better option , i am guessing that you are getting a mobo that is a nvidia i780 or 790 (or 680) and these will support dual nvidia cards if not the 9800 is a super bad deal as you can't use them, however, if you can use them the 280 is still better as in the future you can add another 280 for god mode video power. (or if its three - 4 years down the road make my new game run at 60 fps an above agian).

ps how much will this about cost you?

This package would run 2k which is my budget.

I can opt for a quad core 2Q6600 8MB L2 Cache 2.4GHz 1066 FSB or the dual core 2E8400 6MB 3.0 GHz 1333FSB, I thought the dual core would be faster?

    Vista home 64 bit,

    6 GB dual channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800 MHz - 4 DIMMs,

640GB serial ATA hard drive 7200RPM w/ databurst cache,

single drive 16x CD/DVD burner DVD+/- RW w/ double layer write capability,

24 inch E248WFP widescreen flat panel monitor,

    nVidia Ge Force GTX 280 - 1024MB,

    integrated 7.1 channel audio,

Dell A525 30 watt 2.1 stereo speakers with subwoofer

basic dell mouse, keyboard, 56k PCI fax modem, 1 year in home service warranty

Don't know how much you want to spend, TigerDirect has some decent gaming deals.

Also, as said before, building your own is IMENSELY easy these days...almost everything is plug and chug.

Those tiger deasl are better but do not offer the 280, only dual 9xxxx cards which id avoid(they are great, but not worth it in a new comp). Dell also offers a good deal of support so ..

Now Do you want a 24" or would 22" be fine.

SEe i like 22 or 21,6" why the res they use which is like 1680 by 1050 in stead of 1900 by 1200. Yes the 24 uses a cool higher resolution; which also drops your fps by like a good 10-25% (for most new comps). Now if you apply aa or as it even hard to do with the higher res etc, and i just do not fin the two extra inches worth it. However, if thats is what you want get it its not bad in anyway. But you could look for a 1300-1500 comp with the same stuff yours offers then ned to newegg and pick up a GREAT 22" for 160-230.

But overall, the dells nice if you want to spend that. PS great 24" on new egg will run you 300-350.

I generally order samsung lcds. But off brands can be good also.
