i think this forum just got popular... lets see how it goes and i am off to chekc the header
Couple reasons for it:
1. We realized that the more players we have in game, the more fun it is
2. We realized that 90% of our new players come from mmorpg.com
3. We realized that we all love having fun.
So a couple of us decided that it was time SQO got the attention of mmorpg.com. No more 2 year old headers, and 6 month old news for us. We are going to get this game popular, or die trying.
Your sarcasm is wonderful(ly bad,) but you forgot the following....
-Pyramid scheme advancement: How you advance in anything other then skills depends on how much ass you can kiss. And there's regretfully no way you can really tell the community to take a piss either.
-Petty politics: You will be someone's tool, deal with it. And regretfully it will almost always over something infantile. So keep your gun close and always trust your instincts when it's telling you to shoot both parties.
-Grindage Ho!: You will most likely mine rocks for almost all of eternatity to pay for your own ship unless you're a Star Fleet brat, then you will do something interesting to grind your skills up to snuff. Unfortunately, Fleet politics being what they are means that it is likely to be interesting in a Chinese way.
Thus, if you want the thrill of raising a empire from the ground up, play EvE. If you want to be a soldier exploring alien vistas, play Tabula Rasa or Stargate Worlds. If you want to take part in a community where involvement isn't like some sick arranged marriage, then maybe Global Agenda will have what you want....
Wait, Norrington? I KNEW I had to have served under you once. I thought that post style looked familiar.
What is this game your talking about? This is the SQO forums.....
SQO here means StarQuest Online.
From your description, you arent talking about SQO.
((Seriously, take your grudge and go elsewhere before I have to call in the moderators))
do you read everything? or just between the lines? ofcourse every now and then another game is compared to SQO but that doesnt mean we change the subject... Patience and read through everything and you may be able to keep up with the conversation. this is an advice i strongly recommend you to follow:)

but I want a game where you do all this things and that is what SQO is working towards
I suggest you give the game another go as I believe it has changed greatly.
The points you have made might have been valid back then but this game is updated at a frightening pace and is always progressing forwards
Granted it might not be your "cup of tea" but it really has dealt with the list of complaints you have put forward, this is the whole reason I have been playing this game for over 6 months now because every member is actively involved in the development of this game.
We really are pushing it forward to be everything most games I ahve played in this genre are lacking. I have tried all the mainstays and although most have far superior graphics (in most peoples opinion anyway) they still don't quite give you the freedom this game does.
You really can make a massive difference to this storyline of SQO and play it how you want to.
I urge you to give it another go and get actively involved in the community in a positive way, hopefully you will find things have changed in a big way and even if you don't like the game still you must find it refreshing to see a game where the developers are part of the community and together we are building up this game to the best it can be.

And I suppose you'll correct me if I make any slip-ups. :P
Of course!
Btw, they changed the header! Too bad it's low quality but anything better than what it was
Changed header? where?
O, and Kip, kill the spammers, I got a reply from one of the mmorpg.com staff on my VERY FIRST email.
You guys are awesome!
Dont you see it? The ugly kennav is gone
I do now, , it might be low res, but its a lot higher res than the beta pic.

and i guess this discussion began because i said i would try this gameXD seems like that works atleast
I tried it, I liked, I bought a subscription
I started out as a civilian, running loads of cargo between Alpha Centauria and several colonies trying to save up enough cash to buy a larger ship
But it looks like a war is coming, so I'm rolling up a fleetie toon to join up and do my patriotic duty so we all don't get eaten by lizards!!!!!
