Craig Morrison, the Game Director of Age of Conan has penned a preview of the content of the next update for AoC, which includes the new consequence system for PvP.
The next game update is now progressing very nicely on the test server and we hope to have it ready for the live servers over the next couple of weeks. As anyone who has read the test server update notes or visited the test server will be aware the amount of changes and new content coming with this update is substantial. The next update will introduce many new adjustments and additions so today we wanted to give you all an idea of what to expect from this update.
PVP Consequence System – The Notoriety System
The next game update brings with it a major new game-play feature – a new consequence system for PVP. Off the back of the PVP leveling system introduced in the last update, this new system aims to bring even deeper meaning to PVP and introduce real consequences for your actions. Players will be now run the risk of becoming a criminal or even a murderer depending on their actions in PVP.

As time goes by, this game is going to be really fun.
I just need a better computer and a time machine.....
If only these updates came 3 months ago when there was still a somewhat healthy playerbase. I won't even bother returning since my server is a ghost town. Last time I logged in there was maybe 40-60 people(20-80) at primetime. Looks like a good update though!

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
Looks like the new game director might actually release the rest of the PVP update.
Hopefully the players that are left will get a big kick out of this patch.
It'll pick up.
I think the game is finally starting to get better and better ^^
Game does become better and better. And on servers with healthy population it is a real fun to play. They just have to figure out how to merge servers (with all these BK complications).
Yeah, it is almost out of beta now, oh yeah, they did manage to entice many of us to pay for that phase....
When Funcom decided to release early they doomed the game. They knew, just like Mythic did, that many of the features of the game were not in yet and others were not working. Mythic was smart and held release back.
Now after a large number of players have had such a negative view of the game with it's problems, they are going to have an extremely hard time getting players to come back to the game.
I think this will be a decent game eventually, they seem to be adding the important stuff in finally, but it is too little too late in my opinion.
