I have decided to try WAR despite the negative comments and I need some help deciding what to play...
I am a vetran CoH player and that said, I play mostly Scrappers(High DPS/Solo ability) and almost exclusivly PvE.
On the Order side, what type of character would be close to this?
I do plan on getting into PvP but want to explore the world as well...
Thanks for the help.

well for melee dps i would go for white lion, and for ranged i would go for bright wizard
look into those 2 and you will probly find something you like
enjoy WAR
I play a lot of games...
Warrior Priest. Good for solo PvE and not bad addition to any RvR group. You can even solo PvP.
If you want you can try Warrior Lion or Witch Hunters (the last one can stealth so is nice for solo RvR too) Both are the meele dps. But they dont have heals and you will depend on potions. The Warrior Priest can heal as he combats so the is like a non stop machine.
Become a Scavanger and Aphoticary so you can make some potions too.
A Warrior Priest is nice addition to any group too so you will be welcome in most groups.
In RvR, you may find yourself in the back healing so you may not like that. In any case, I advice you to try it out.
Give it several ranks... to any class... the first ranks are misleading sometimes.
magus range dps with pets
, sorc range dps by far best
,disiple of kain mele healer
.black orc - badd ass dps
, squidherder range dps

On Order side, the following careers do quite well in solo PvE and deal considerable damage:
- Bright Wizard (ranged magic nuker)
- White Lion (pet-based melee fighter)
- Witch Hunter (sneaking coward melee damage dealer with light armour)
- Shadow Warrior (archer with some melee ability)
- Engineer (dwarf with a rifle, grenades and gadgets, such as turrets - probably not quite the damage output of the others)
Warrior Priest definitely.
It is a melee DPS / healer which is hands down the best solo class in the game. Since you're a healer you will be welcome in most group content as well. If you spec/gear it right you might do considerable DPS with some healing where needed to tip the scales.
The downside to WP is that it is a hybrid - you don't heal/buff as much as a Runepriest and you don't DPS as much as a Witch Hunter but you more than make it up with versatility. In addition you are a bit vulnerable to CC - melee DPS requires you to move around but you don't have any CC breaking abilities like the tanks. However you still can heal at range and even do some slight ranged dps on the run.
Don't worry about being a hybrid though. Since the game has very little content that requires a certain limited number of players (not many "x-man" instances to be precise) you won't get kicked out for some "better" healer or DPS.
In addition if you're into solo play consider playing a tank. The tanks in this game are really great and fully functional. My main is a SM and I never have any problems with solo questing or being welcome in groups. The downside to tank classes is that though they are almost indestructible their dps is really low so consider playing a tank only if you habitually group with a dps/healer friend for solo questing... or you don't mind going through mobs at a slightly slower pace.
.. oh and welcome aboard!
You might want to try Swordmaster. They have great DPS abilities, they can act as a tank or Melee DPS. Also, the skills they have help you out while you solo and help others out while you RvR. For example, when you are rvr'ing you can use different defensive abilities to protect yourself and not take any damage from literally anything for 10 seconds or you can deflect damage away from your team mates and have it split up between the two of you. You also have morale reducing abilities and a juggernaut ability which takes every sort of curse or stun off of you. It is a really convienient character that is equally strong with both defense and offense.
Advice: Don't get it, you'll be disappointed
Hey dude just pic a class and start playing. Part of the fun is trying the different classes.
I wouldn't get his game unless PvP is your main interest.... The PvE in this game pretty much blows, so does the crafting or I should say lack of.... Basically PvE is falling a linear trail from Point A to Point B and doing quests along the way, the quests are your std. Kill 10 of "X" animal, find the dead body, or pick 15 flowers.... It's really sad...
PvP can be fun, but on my server nobody is doing Open PvP, everyone is only doing scenarios and mostly the Tor Anoc (lava map) one, it pops up 90% of the time...
That said if you do buy it you'll have fun for the 1st month, after that odds are you will be bored like the rest of us...

You're so amazingly misleading that it boggles the mind. What about PQs? Did you even seriously try to get a 4-man group to take those open RvR objectives?
Or did you just queue up for scenarios while doing hub quests? And then complain that there is nothing to do except scenarios and hub quests?
That's like saying EVE PvP sucks while you never left the 1.0 space or joined a corp. Please, 90% of those off-hand "reviews" of WAR are made by people who tried to play WAR like it was WoW... and then complain that it is a "bad WoW clone".
