I always get random gifts from other players in the game. I believe I that there is a quest where you are asked to give one to a another random player? Anyway, when I receive one, I always whisper a thanks to the player whose given me the gift. Some would also reply a 'your welcome' and such and it makes me smile. It's nice to be courteous to our fellow gamers. Do you say thank you when you receive gifts as well?

I have only received two gifts from other players and said thanks to the last one. I kinda ignored the first one.
I also receive gifts from everyone. It ranges from enchant box, to equipment boxes. I also receive treasure maps three times already. I have used one but unfortunately, the treasure was gone suddenly. To your question, I don't say thank you to them

The main reason why you recieved gifts to other player is that it is a part of your quest... You will encounter this somewhere near angkor wat dungeon.. where you are required to give some items or gold to any beginners in the the beginner's list... The other reason is that 10% of their total value of the gift they send to you is converted into the bonuse exp of the mercs...
So receiving gifts is a part of a quest eh? I thought it was a self act. Atleast, they help other players and they completed their quest. So, it won't really hurt to say thank you at all. I've recieved gifts already and I keep in mind to say thank you to their acts.

yeah. i've also experienced the same things especially when i was at the sea king palace. other than for quests, some users also give gifts to restore 1 stamina point. those who win at battles with GMs also give out gifts. i received two tusks earlier from 2 different users who won against GMs.

I don't say thank you to them, because I will give others too in the future...I haven't reached that quest, but I'll just pass the good karma to the one whom I'll give the items.
I have recieved gifts a number of times and allways say thanks. This has led to some new friends and some good partys which give extra exp.And on a side note one of the first people that gave me a gift then messaged me because he thought it was nice that i had thanked him, this led to an invite to join his guild which i did and now when i need info on anything my quild allways helps.So a little thank you never hurts.

I've always thought that the gifts I've received came from players on a quest since I wasn't aware that you can also receive a +1 stamina when you give gifts.
The first time I received the gift, I got a cannon and I was like level 13 at that time! I figured I'll get to use that in the future so I accepted it. When I was whispered a thanks, the admin replied that the one who give me the gift just logged out so he/she won't be able to get my reply. I kinda felt bad...
