Burned-out vet looking for game

elswyyrelswyyr Member Posts: 2

I've played/tried a lot of games. WoW, EQ2, ATITD, Vanguard, Puzzle Pirates, Runescape, Guild Wars, DDO,  Toontown and Ryzom. They've all burned me out after some time, and i just can't find anything new.

I'm looking for a game without the horrible quest-less grind of many games, preferably with a nice crafting system.  A sandbox-like game, such as Ryzom, would be nice too, but Ryzom was a bit too grindy for me.

Hope you can help me in my search.

You could try Magic of the Gods. Definitely sandbox. Pretty much no grind. Great player community, mostly people from Ryzom. Lots of role playing. Different and they add new content every week. Also, since it's in beta, it's free to play.

I know its not here quite yet, but Darkfall sounds right down your street if it comes anywhere near what it promises at release.

I lie to think that I have had an extensive experience with most of them.  The trouble is that most MMO's require some level of dedication in order to get involved into them.

For a sand-box title, you could try EvE.  Although it does take a lot of information before you can get fully into it.

At the moment, Mines of Moria is coming out on Nov 14th, and it is being touted as being the greatest expansion pack of any game.  Easy to get into, a beautiful world, with loads going on.  The MInes themselves look set to be amazing,  Complete with a whole new volume, and many glorious cinematics (as in proper cineamtic cut-scenes).  Too much to mention here, but it is going to be great without a doubt.  Please give it a try.

EQ2 is quite good.  With excellent graphics.  Also, full voicing for all NPC's.  However, not the easiest game to get into.

Wrath of the Lich King is also looking set to be an excellent expansion.

Try Moria for a month when it comes out, it was astounding, and I am in a great kin.

Well, I would suggest, you try Atlantica Online. I have been playing this game since Cb2 and Ob is on its way soon. The game is really addictive and crafting is the backbone of the game. Every item in this game can be crafted. Apart from this, the game has Free – League which makes you enjoy PVP in some very intelligent manner. Every fight makes you think and every combination of mercenary has its advantages and disadvantages. The economy is not stingy and again it is not easy.

I myself had been a fan for Anarchy Online and I know I like games that drill my mind and not make me grind away the time. Atlantica Online somewhere makes me feel the same way. I know I cannot balance my group of mercenaries completely to become the supreme Atlantarean but then again, I can try.

I have a few posts regarding the way to play the game and the intelligence to get into the game where grind is minimal and the quest line is very deep. I always have around 4-5 quest chains continuing and seldom culminating into killing the same monsters.

    Cheers

But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible. "

You could try Magic of the Gods. It doesn't have a lot of players, though.
