Hybrid healers are not existent (ranged). Even if you spec damage, you can never kill anyone under a minute unless they suck so bad.
So if you decide to roll a healer and love to be hybrid, do not roll Zealot, Shaman, Archmage or Rune Priest. DoK and WP has some chance to kill someone, but not these 4.

my archmage does quite well. and WP/DoK are considered crazy overpowered in 1v1. Healers heal, thats why we roll healers. WAR healers heal very well, but can also do some decent damage/debuffing as well. damage numbers mean nothing, its how much you contribute to the game.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
Why are you worried about trying to kill someone in the first place. Secondly this game is so not about 1v1. Third, all those classes you listed kick ass at healing (which is their purpose). What you meant to say is that there is no uber priest class like in WOW. If you don't want to be a healer, then don't roll one.

Love sought is good;
but given unsought is better.
Ive got a shaman and i play as a healer 1st.
I stay out of the way and off the radar and throw out some curses and undermine the enemy as well as doing a bit of damage.
Lets see ....healer.......hybrid....warrior priest?
What is your physical limit?
Not true really on the rune priest I seen a RP kill a lvl 19 hero mob solo and he was only lvl 24. Its all about how you make them. You can't have best of both only one path.

Oh come on, it's true. As a level 25 Zealot ALL I do in RvR or scenarios is staying as far back as possible and dishing out nothing but flashheals and HoTs, occassionally some debuff or a DoT, but that's about it. PvE groups, same story, stay in the back and HoT up the group, RvR, stay on the tower and heal. Solo PvE, takes forever to kill anything.
I'm not really critizising the mechanic itself, I rolled a healer after all. But it's really funny how Barnett said "there will be no healers in our game that stand in the rear line and do 'heal', 'heal' because that's not - fun. If you like that kind of thing, sorry, we won't have that in our game." And now I'm standing there, in the rear line, doing nothing but 'heal', 'heal' all the time In fact they didn't create classes half as innovative and great as they proclaimed during beta. I guess that's just the way PR is made, but it's like the "WAR is everywhere" slogan with people happily grinding boars while some fraction of t he map is open for level-regulated PvP.

Two healers, the Rune Priest and the Zealot, are designed as the traditional "healbot", allowing players who want to focus only on healing and buffing something to player. The Shaman and Archmage have a mechanic that improves their damage when they heal (and the other way around), so usually when playing one of those I cast 5 heals, then nuke, cast 5 heals, then nuke, and in quiet situations 5 nukes, then heal. With warrior priest and disciple you generally need to be in there bashing heads, as Rend Soul/Divine Assault is your best healing ability in most situations. So you got two filling the traditional healbot role, and four others that work a bit different than what we're used to from MMOs.
Personally I prefer playing the Zealot, so I'm glad I have the choice of playing a more traditional healer. The group of players wanting this felt a bit left out when Mythic kept talking about healers having to deal damage to be truly effective, and I guess they decided to listen to the player base.
After testing out the healer Realm Point changes by playing a Warrior Priest and a Runepriest, Mark wrote recently on another board that one thing he realized was that being a heal bot wasn't fun and he was going to look into ways they could improve on the healing classes.
It may be a while, but it's good to hear that even he realizes the healing classes could be a little more dynamic and he wants to do something about it.
Since the game allows you to have a defensive and offensive target both simultaneously, more skills that do damage and heal at the same time would be nice.

yeah it sounds to me like it was just hype, now the game is out and he realized how things work? I am wondering what happened in beta lol
The game probably should think about trying to honor their promise since Hybrids got a big boost to their respectability in WoW 3.0, and the itemization changes will ensure that it continues into the future.
wp/DoK are only considered overpowered in teirs 1 & 2, teirs 3 and above they start to balance out
Let's face it, they said from the start that there would be no healbots, somebody who chooses one of the true healer classes with this promise in mind will be really, REALLY disappointed, as you are pressed into the pure healer role more and more during tier 3 and 4.
Funny sidenote, when you play the healer class in LotRO, where the minstrel is designed as and declared "the only main healer", you are far more versatile than any of the 4 ranged healer classes in WAR. Sure, in LotRO you don't have to put up with balanced PvP, but still I think that's funny. In one game they give you the "HEALBOT" stamp then let you wear shields, swords, medium armor and spam AoE; in the other game they tell you nobody would be a "healbot" and all classes would rely on offensive abilities and you end up wearing robes, any kind of decorating non-weapon (like a ritual dagger or a staff) and your offense does 120 damage over 15 seconds *g*

Dude, there is 2 classes out of 6 healers. 2! That require traditional healing ways. Get that 2. 33 pct. 2/6ths. 1/3rd. I can't make it any clearer.
Then the other 4 have unique combat oriented healing. Some people want to try new healing way. Some are comfortable with the traditional way. Everyone is happy, except you. And if you actually played the game, and understood the mechanics. Why would someone who can self heal, deal as much damage as someone who relys on potions? That makes no sense. Because whats the point of using someone who does the same damage, but cannot self heal.
Your arguement is very poor. There going for class balance. Not uberkillers. You want an OP char that can heal. Go back to WOW and enjoy your druid 2's arena team.
Enjoy : )

Great post, I salute you. You're right, I'll probably create an account on World of Warcraft and play a Druid; you opened my eyes buddy... thanks

To the ones thinking AM(and I asume Shamans are the same, since they are in a different situation) is different than a healbot, I say only one thing:
Clueless
You gotta be joking if you think 5 heals+1 damage splel is not be healbotting. It doesn't work the other way around because our damage is extremely low and since we are DoT based, we have no place in a game where burst is king. Trying to mix them completly will fail even more, to a 0 AP archmage that just left his team die for 2-3 weak DoTs.
The only offensive abilities worth casting are Vaul debuffs so please, if you didn't play the class and you're basing your asumptions on those shiny video descriptions/T1...just shut up, RP are more hybrids than us if you would take a look at them.
No, moonkins and shadow priests do not exist in this game. Honestly, what did you expect from a healer class?
What Paul Barnett said in more than half a dozen Podcasts: "there are no pure healer classes in WAR". I SAID I wouldn't care because I liked playing a healer, but it's a joke that they said they would not put in pure healing classes when they - in fact - put in the essence of classic healers. Paper armor, HoTs, Shield, Flashheal, No melee potential.
It's the archetype of a healbot and that's what makes it so funny.

Well, are you playing at t4? While healers can not do massive dps, they can out last opponents and still do a hefty amount of damage,
