Talisman needs both Salvaging and Scavenging. Apothecary, I think, uses Scavenging and Cultivating. Don't know what Butchering is for.

I love the crafting system in WAR, but there's only two crafting professions and three gathering professions, so I hope to see a good deal more in the future.
Apothecary and Talisman making are worthless, there loot and reward counterparts are better then anything you can make.... which is lame considering all the work you have to do to get all the components to make them..
Crafting was tacked on at the end.... And if your waiting for Armorsmith and Weaponsmith, keep dreaming, this game is extreamly loot centric so I doubt we will see much in the way of a good crafting system anytime soon...
That's not true. Potion drops have been decreased, so the only way to get a steady supply of potions is Apothecary. Plus, there are many potion types that aren't available as drops.
For Talisman making, the dropped talismans have level requirements and offer horrible stats compared to crafted Talismans.
Talisman making seems harder to level up, because of the need for magic items to salvage, but they seem to be in short supply and in demand on the AH, so there seems to be some money making potential if you can afford the start up costs or have the help of your guild.
I have no idea if potions have a market, but for personal use, if you know what to grind for drops, you can keep up a good supply of useful potions.

You don't just "like" the crafting system, you "love it? Love?
Sorry, but this is the weakest crafting system in any MMO ever. Sure, you can believe it has "potential". I can buy that. But to LOVE it at present time?
If it's that easy to satisfy MMO gamers today, it's no wonder we have all these poorly designed MMOs out there to choose from. No company will ever again strive to make a game with "meat" in it, if everyone "LOVES" mediocrity.

Weakest? Seriously? By who's measure? Yours? Well, I hate to break it to you, but Mythic stated quite clearly OVER AND OVER that the crafting system was not meant to be deep and super time intensive but rather to augment the ongoing war. War is the focus at all times! To that end, I think they made a great system! Each craft/gather skill alone can do quite well ,but when all work together, they really start to shine! Sure I can make money off of things I salvage and sell and I can make some fairly good potions from what I scavenge and use my apoth on....BUT when I make use of materials from the other skills or I give them items I can make, then you can make some VERY potent potions and talisman.....and those are what will aid your side in turning the tide in the war. Weapons, armor and such can and should be picked up through quests and battle. That makes perfect sense in the world they created. Not sure what you think is weak or missing there?!?!?!?
If you want to sit around making door mats that lead to leather straps that lead to sword handles that you then sale to someone else going through their own parallel hell so they can work up and craft a sword that then no one really uses, then please Coors, by all means, go enjoy that other game that gives you such a "rush".

Ok.. To each his own. No offense intended.
But, you have a crafting system where "seeds" drop off mobs and the only things you can really craft are potions, AND... You don't even need a crafting station to do it in... AND... It's not really viable to sell because everyone else is crafting potions also.... AND.... You think that's just swell?
And.. on top of it all... You tell me to go play that other game, WOW, I suppose you mean? LOL! I don't play WOW period.
I think you have proved my point to a tee actually. Thank you so much.
Being a fanboi is one thing, but this goes way beyond. How you can get so upset and defend this craptastic crafting system is just unbelievable.
For many here, there is only hate and derision. Don't pay any attention to them. No matter what game you play, find enjoyment in it. If you like Maple Story, Eve or Zork, be assured there is some asshole out there who would like nothing better than to vent their joyless worthless opinion all over your gaming happiness. Don't try to reason or argue with them, they're perfectly correct in their mind and any disagreement from you only proves how clueless you are. They exsist outside the realm of gaming enjoyment. They are the grunting little trolls underneath your bridge to fun.

I like WAR and all, but sorry Mythic, you have to admit that crafting was just something you stuck in ad hoc in last second to kind of have it there as a placeholder for later updates.

Talisman needs both Salvaging and Scavenging. Apothecary, I think, uses Scavenging and Cultivating. Don't know what Butchering is for.
Cultivating is used to grow seeds into ingredients used for Apothecary.
Butchering is used on animal/beast corpses and produces mostly apothecary ingredients.
Scavenging is used on humanoid corpses and gives a balance of ingredients for apothecary and talisman making. It is the primary way to collect curios.
Salvaging is the breaking down of magic items and ruined equipment to give essences used in talisman making.
