    Yes...

We can only sit and wait, watch how development goes.

a while back someone posted an article saying it was slated for late 2009 release ... no idea how accurate that was , it has been in development for at least 4 years already so its not like they are starting from scratch today.

I have to assume they have alot of things done than what they talked about or even showed today, I would expect alot of info trickling out over the course of the next few months... All we really got was some screenies, alot of concept art and not alot of real info other than it is story driven and in the Old Republic timeleine, Oh and it's an mmo...

If my memory is correct and i am doubtfull on this this but I believe this  game has been in development 3 years this Decemeber.  Most games take 5 years to make with some exceptions like warhammers 3.5 year development time.  With most games betas taking a  little over a year.  Given these theories and any errors in the start date we should be looking at a late  2010 early 2011 release.  With beta starting roughly a year before release.

Well they are already well into alpha testing

Early 09-Friends and family beta testing

    Late spring 09-closed beta

    Winter release nov 09-feb10

WAR did pretty well with 3.5 years and Im pretty sure they didn't have the help of a company like LA or EA(for most of the time) and now Bioware can use them both. I think they would have no problem with a late 09 early 10 release.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.

I remember hearing/reading that BioWare said the game was almost done and in playable form, this was some time last year.  What they were doing now was putting on the pretty and writing stories and backgrounds.

In the same article they also mentioned they used the Hero Engine (I think it was Hero) and it would cut off one year of developement because so easy to create content on.

Realistically speaking and based off what I can remember I would say that beta is a very big yes by 2009, hopfully summer.

...I should also say, other have said on these forums that projected release was going to be 2010/2011, but the sources weren't known/confirmed so who knows how accurate those statements are.

The game has been in "known" development for at least 3 years.  I wager that that closed beta will be starting within the next few months and release will come for end of summer/holiday season 2009.

They have a prebuilt engine and a few other pieces of middleware that they used to ramp up production fast though they may have killed off the stuff that they bought from that one company... the ones that were doing Gods n Heroes and Star Trek...

The game started development nov/dec 2005. Their using the hero engine thats supposed to speed up developent for MMO's. Usually MMO's are in development 3-5 years. They are allready 3 years into development. EA when they bought Bioware stated that the game was in a playable state, so that must be Alpha. My guess Beta will start second half of 2009 and the game release May 2010. May beeing the month all Star Wars films have had their premier.

    Thats my best guess anyways...

The game started in 2006, according to the Bioware news, about hiring for a new MMORPG game developed in their Austin studio.

If we consider that, the game should be in a stage for  alfa testing at least. I bet on release date in fall 2009, and open beta in the beginning of 2009.

Thy started hiring at that point. There is no way to tell how much they had gotten done already with what the people they already had.
