Strategies in selling

How do you sell your items in the market? I mean, when you sell an item, of course you have to check for the rates, but there were players who price the item way way below the real price, and also others price the items out. Do you compete with the very low priced items in the market? Or do you stand for your own price? Share your strategies on how to get a good deal out of your item in the market.

Well this comes down to how you answer various questions.

Do you want to make a quick sale? - undercut

Are you desperate for money? - Match low price

Are you about to log off and wont be on until the following evening? - set at average price.

Competition too heated? - wait until the demand is higher.

Sometimes I just want to clear out my inventory, but after a while of playing the market you begin to realise that anything will and does sell, its just a matter of time! and how much time you have, and how much inventory space you have.

I rarly undercut nowadays, I usually put it up for the 3'rd or 4'th price from lowest and wait for it to sell.

That was a good advice sadeyx. In my case, if I don't really need the item anymore, I just entered any price I like. If it was upgraded armors, I just make sure that it is in thousands. No specific price range though. Maybe that's why some of my items aren't selling.

It will always depend on how you want it. If it is a rush selling cause you need money, then go for a rush sale by selling in your items lower than the common selling rate. If it ain't rush then sell it on the possible highest price you can think off. The market always depend on the law of supply and demand, remember that some players don't do crafting etc but they sell their items to those players who are crafting and cooking. So, make it sure that you sell the most in demand items even if in a cheaper price but if you can sell it on big number then it is just fair.

i feel like a goodie goodie now. what i do actually is price the item a 1000gold above the recommended selling price cos i don't wanna break the law of supply and demand ingame. haha. now i don't think that's a pretty good idea.

  • muro_amimuro_ami Member Posts: 91

Well, I also following the law of supply and demand. When I saw in the list that there are many items that has been registered, i try to follow the lowest price. But if there are only a few, let say, 4 or 5 items, i'll be pricing the item just in the middle of those listed.

I really don't have a strategy in selling. I just place a price on my items and just hope that someone would buy it. Up to now, my items are sold out already so I guess I am making the right choice?

There are  many morons, yes COMPLETE IDIOTS! Selling items over the fixed price. I don't understand those, like over 200 of one item over the fixed price.

It is not rocket science to sell items in Atlantica, just click the item, then rates, then you get a list of prices and quantity, just sell below fixed price, tada!

I never buy items from other players that are the same as fixed price or like 1 below and I always sell atleast 100 or 50 below other postings that carries a large quantity. And I've made alot of gold in Atlantica.

Needless to say, I reached a lvl where Atlantica is total boredom now and I've quit, it's just the same ol' same ol', packed in over 18 days playtime over a couple of weeks, maybe it is because of that.

Grind, it is only grind and no freedom of adventuring nor exploring in this game. You get what you pay for... It's free.

There is no quite rule on selling items, but make it sure that you don't over price your items, and always remember the rule of supply and demand. If the demand is up and the supply was low you now what to do, you have to over price those items and vice versa.

    (1) People that price their items over the fixed price are NOT trying to sell them 9 times out of 10.  Sure there is an idiot every now and again but these people are simply using their market slots for extra storage!!!!  You want to keep the item, so you price it above the fixed price and no one will buy them and just let them sit there being stored.  Got it?

    (2) Buying strategies: well depending on what it is, how much it is, how popular it is, I may buy every single one of the first 4 lowest stacks of items and then make one single stack that I put back up at my price which now may actually be the lowest price.

    (3) Please people, no item in the game is worth less than 10g.  I don't mind if you put them up for 1, 2, 3, 5g but it is absolutely idiotic.  You know why?  You can npc them for 10g.  You don't have time to walk or tele around to find that 10g NPC guy?  Yeah, neither do I.  That is why I click on that little town button called hospital.....yeah right there near the market button, yeah uh huh, see it?  yeah right there you got it.  Open it - sell those items for 10g that you were going to put in the market for 1g.  Your welcome for the tip.

I usually sell my items in the market based on the fixed price. No strategy, really, just want to get rid of some stuff and earn a decent amount of money in the process.

wise marketers are intimidated seeing huge stacks of items being sold at the minimum price,, this is what usually drives the prices down because now people are willing to lower their prices so as not to compete with the large stacker that will take days before his supplies run out...

the only reason why i try to sell my items is primarily becuase of inventory space, if i want money, i just go to free league or monopolize a specific item...

this is not to say that i sell my tems off at ridiculous rates, what i would do, is just pplace it a dollar below the largest stack in  the game.. i dont care about the sellers hawking their single items at the most minimal price, their items are eventually gonna be sold.. its stupid competing with them

compete with the supply and not with the people...

now as implied in this,, there is no such thing as "breaking" the law of supply and demand..

go ahead and do it if you got nothing better to do... ive literally spent hours sitting at the market analyzing market trends,, for me the market is a game in itself...

monopolizing a specific item is easy

first analyze the abomaly in prices if the gaps between them are huge..

choose one particular set price that you know if you go above it you can no longer compete becuase of the number of stacks

then buy off everything at prices lower to the one set price you chose

now you have the cheapest item of that kind in the market which you can sell at a price lower than the stackers above you...

the problem with this again is that people are gonna be intimidated with your stack and will eventually rate items lower than your price..

the solution? buy them off at their rates... this requires you extreme patience and alot of money... whatever happens, your effort will be worth it because you will ALWAYS come out richer in the end

btw it is best to do this with an item that has no fixed price, that way you can buv all the items diplayed in the market and get to have full control of the price of the item and peoipl have no choice but to buy it from you (at exorbitant rates if your that greedy)

Sorry but I think your mistaken.  They arnt over-fix pricing for storage its a free MMO make a second account and you have 3 more character slots worth of storage.  That doesnt include the two extra slots you get on your main account.

Also, if they were doing it for the storage then they wouldnt try sell them for 1 gold over the fixed price now would they?.. and indeed the items you see over the fixed price are common crappy materials which you would sell AT the fixed price and then simply buy them back again later!

This doesnt even put tax into the equation.. you pay tax to put an item on the market.. over fix price means you end up pay more, lol.

Its purly mistakes made by people who dont really understand what a fixed price means, and opportunists

    Strategies in Selling………

I have tried a few strategies and it somewhere works wonders for me ….

    My Strategy………

I never sell materials and I always buy material boxes at lower price. Now these material boxes can be opened and sold if you have a 9 merc storage unit. I always put high bulk amount of materials in the fixed price amount and as such my 14x2 bulk materials take time to sell while I play the main character.

I also have made a 9 merc library and a 9 merc armory and weaponery seller. No wonder these characters have the necessary skills to produce these stuffs. Generally I enchant weapons and sell them. This is a convenient way as I somehow make +1 / +2 / +3 weapons and armor through crafting skills quite regularly.

Bran boxes is where it starts that the weapons and armors start selling and as such I always open those boxes and sell the goods at the market either enchanted or just at the top of the lowest price for that item. Whenever my weapon and armory merchant character makes profit it buys higher end boxes and opens them up and keep them or sell them according to my mains team.

My main is a crafter and as such it crafts items and makes bulks of around 10 or 14 before selling them off to the market near to the fixed price or a bit lower than it.

I have observed that the market bell rings faster if you have 0 gold in your character and bank. Do not know if this is a miracle or a system but it does. May be I am very wrong here.

    General casual Strategy….

Accumulate materials upto 5000 and then consult a crafter or just level up a craft skill and craft those items and try selling. You may also sell 5000 in the market but do keep it near to the fixed price. This strategy made me sell my 1k lemon for 2k each, I wonder who bought them. When selling 1k lemon I made 3 slots through 3 characters of 300, 300 and 400 each and not a 1k slot from my main.

Money Making strategy away from market………

Ormate treasure maps make you the most dough. I have found out my 20 ornate map hunts that consume 2 hours or so without a teleportation license and an auto battle license installed gives me around 10million this way or that way. So farming ornate treasure maps and treasure chest farming makes you get out of any market related selling strategies as you will always be able to buy out everything.

I like your style and i occasinally go and geopardise the market in the same way. Buy out all at the top and sell at the bottom through another character by mailing the selling character from the purchases made by the buying character. It is a continuous process and generally fast materials like refined iron or such really makes huge profit from it. If you do dragon crystals this way which i once did made some easy 10 mil in a day or so just by buying it at under a million and posting it at over a million.
