Has WAR replaced AoC as the most negatively viewed MMO?

I have noticed that WAR seems to have replaced AoC as the MMO whipping boy. I base this simply on amount of negative threads. AoC had a clear lead pretty much since its release but over the last month WAR seems to have taken the dubious honor. Sudden turn...it was by just about everyones account the most sucsessful MMO launch  in history (stability wise).  Just a prediction...with WoW's massive unstableness since its last big patch...I expect Lich to get tons of bad press initially. In 4 years, Blizzard simply has not figured out how to handle their server loads.  Of course, its 11 million fans will come to the rescue...but it might give a boost to WAR and AoC.

Has WAR lost over 3/4 of their subs?

    Then no.

  • GruntiesGrunties Member Posts: 859

Well that depends. Is the most negatively viewed MMO the one that has lots of hate threads, or the one that is so bad hardly anyone even cares to talk about anymore? Is there a more sincere way of saying something is bad then to have it fall into obscurity, to be dead and forgotten?

How come the WOW sub numbers always change from 10-11 then back down to 10? and since most of them are from Asia mainly gold farmers and then there are the anti-social players prime example in another thread people with 36 accounts how many people actually play this game and not farm gold or run multiple toons on their own...

Whereas AoC got flamed on entry and is gradually starting to recover, I get the feeling (from reading these forums) that the reverse is true of WAR.

really?  I havent seen near the amount of "hate threads" as AoC generated after the first month.

When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.

    TY  , QFT.

Seee alot of people who never played war are posting how bad it is becuase they are busy playing wow or somethign and have to keep people where ever. Also, not all mmos speak to people so yeah you'll see some people who don't like it.

But there is nothing to really dislike, it has everything that wow has plus good rvr. So Well atm i guess it has less end game pve content but not many people are 40 already, so that should not be an issue.

They game works and better than any other mmo in its first moth of release to date.

Probably because people are tired of talking about AOC but that does not matter now, we have SW:TOR on the way!

No, WAR is, as someone said, a "general meh".  Not too good, not too bad.

It couldn't be any sort of whipping boy for me because I don't care enough about it to post about how bland the experience was.  Atleast AoC made you wish it were better because certain things were so enjoyable.  WAR just makes me hope that my friends who are playing don't renew after their free time runs out so that we can get back to having real fun.

People are just disappointed that they were wrong about how perfect WAR would be and they can't blame themselves for overestimating it.  It must somehow be Mythic's fault for failing to deliver.

Still playing WAR... still enjoying it.

after War it will be DF,   TCOS, Aion etc... til KOTOR... No game can escape this phase till another mmo is out....

    Not KOTOR, it's SWTOR.

IMO, vanguard and DDO had more negatives than WAR.

    No.

While I quit both AOC and WAR, WAR, at least to me, was clearly a better game.

It's just all these wonderfuly positive people on these forum that like to point out a new game's good points

I have herd nothing but good things about war. I actually plan to get it sometime in the future once there is more content out / market/ community stabalizes right now its still all over the place and to soon to judge. Id say give it 2-4 more months and then we will see. Gotta give developers sometime to get their hands in it.

Notice all of the flameposts made by people with >50 posts.

I am willing to bet they work for Blizz so they don't lose any more subs.

    no way

War is actually a good, complete game.

It didn't release with No endgame, broken Pvp and limited content passed level 30.

the people that bitch about WAR just overhyped it thats all.

People complain at What they feel WAR should be.

People are pissed at AoC due to Dev lies, features promised weren't there.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

I think War is more of a "it could of been so much better" type of hate. People are just getting tired of the same style MMO. That doesn't necessarily mean its a bad MMO (in my opinion it is bad) but that it just didn't meet the expectations that many people had.

AoC was garbage from the start. No redeeming qualities about it at all. Everything sucked.

Well, their investors aren't screaming and their stock didn't drop 20 points in one day, and I don't see 500 threads about lies, scams, broken beyond repair. So I think they've already beaten AoC by a country mile.

The month free is just ended give time the market to gather new informations mate.....AoC is already 5 months old so all the shit already hit the fan, and the market already reacted.

Although I do agree that at least the game is solid and Mythic behaved much better than Funcom.....so far.

It's not nearly as crappy as AoC.  AoC was garbage, unfinished nonsense.

WAR is ... disappointing for me.  I personally don't like to run a lot of instanced PvP --- I like it from time to time, but in larger doses it gets very boring and repetitive for me.  And while WAR offers other content, the other content isn't even close to being as rewarding as the instanced PvP, and that's ultimately what pushed me away from the game.  I was expecting more open PvP, as this was hyped by Paul Barnett's videos -- but this was misleading to say the least.  Even at level cap, instanced PvP is the norm, open PvP is the excpetion.  So it just became very boring for me, personally.  For people who really like to run instanced PvP sessions over and over, it must be a fun game.  Not for me, though.

But in no way is it trash like AoC.  It's just rather different from what I expected it to be, and disappointing.

I actually found AoC to be more fun than WAR. I played AoC for a couple of months after release before I quit, unlike WAR, which I played for a couple of days into my free month trial before I quit.
