AoC or WAR

james333james333 Member Posts: 3

Hi, I am currently trying to find a new mmo to play. I've played many mmo's and haven't been as satisfied with one as I was with the first EQ. I've narrowed my decision down to AoC and WAR. I"ve been trying to hold off untill each game had time to fix the bugs and see how well each company handles their game as far as fixing the bugs and adding new content and keeping it up to date. I've heard that AoC is losing many subscriber and WAR is gaining subscribers. Any suggestion or advice on which MMO to choose would be helpful. I don't want to start playing a dieing game.

I would have to say my favorite mmo has been EQ and was very dissapointed with EQ2. Not  sure if this will help.

I have added another post down below...

Both AoC and War are great fun for a little while.

AoC is great to pass the time via fixing problems, bugs and crashes

War is great cause you get to do mindelss scenarios for hours and hours while you wait for Earthrise to come out in 2009.

WAR will be losing potential subscribers left, right, and center once the free month is up. I played EQ and loved it. Neither AoC or WAR will give you anything like the EQ1 experience. They are both wattered down (WAR more so in my opinion) so they pretty much play themselves. I recommend waiting for another game.

If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind spending a bit of money to try both games, you can go that route. Try them both and see for yourself.

    Good luck!

What is your gaming focus? PvP or PvE?

If youre going for PvE, out of those two pick AoC. If youre going for PvP, pick Warhammer. They both have problems but right now, AoC has the majority of ones. AoC is the better looking of the two graphically its not even a contest. The main drawback is its bugginess, which may/may not be fixed by this years end. This game is way more PvE friendly and the mob battles are pretty good. Its it lack of content at higher levels that has people put it on the shelf til its fixed, along with its PvP.  THeres memory leaks, instancing and some other stuff people didnt expect.  Some things people expected are not impleted in the game yet either, so if you dont have any expections (was waiting for a key feature like DX10 or somethjng), then you wont be as dissapointed. Some of the people who used to play this game went back to Vanguard, but theres still people playing it.

Warhammer is more complete than AoC, but in no way IS it complete. There are different tiers in the game T1, T2 T3 etc.. and the majority of people have not passed T2 content yet. Those that have are finding out that the game is far from finished and there are quite a few that are quitting (unsubbing and waiting til they fix the RvR content). This has not come to the attention of the people playing around level 20s and such so its not important, since the majority are in that range. The people who usually rush thru MMOs to get to endgame (not reading quest, not crafting, just playing for level daily) are unhappy because they "finished" the game to fast and now are twiddling thumbs cause Mythic didnt finish the RvR right.

So take your pick. Honestly the state both of these games are in is enough to make you wanna go play Xbox  and single player PC games. But id say long term AoC has the better POTENTIAL to be a much better game. I believe Warhammer will get boring (got boring for me at level 21)

If you want GOOD pvp done right, go play Call of Duty4, or wait for Guild Wars 2.

To help people give some suggestions, I am currently playing AoC, it is really good so far, but I rarely see anyone else besides myself. I don't want to be playing a game that has a low population base. Thererfore I am looking at WAR, which I heard is having some issues as well. And then there is LoTR online, I only played a little bit of the beta in 2007 and that was it. I have been looking up information for it and it looks amazing. So now im stuck on LoTR, WAR, or just to tough it out with AoC and see where it goes.

I am looking for a game with a huge population base. I hate playing a mmo and not having anyone to group up with.

    Any suggestions please

WAR is a waste of time, unless you love Instanced PvP, the open pvp would be GREAT if other people were there, and atm they are not, so I would wait some more for WAR. AoC I heard is a decent game, but I have no personal experience with it.

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

Ive played Both, there both OK games.

Biggest gripe from myself and from other folks who have played AoC, no end game.

I liked war but I wish there was more open pvp like there was in DAOC. But then again, you can lvl by pvping. It gets repetitious though. I know some who love it and still play and a few of us who dont care for teh repetition.

Im not really biased toward either game, to tell ya the truth Im kinda ill with mmos atm. There just doenst seem to be anything incredible out atm.

All I can say is read into them much as you can and try to find out yourself because asking people will get you a millon different answers and some might drive you away from a game you might like.
