Which is which? I need suggestions.

Currenlty at lvl 22 with 5 active mercenaries. So I've leveled up already. Now, here comes the problem. I can't decide which mercenary shall I evolve first, I've already evolved my swordsman, then who's next among them?
Please post your suggestions and reasons.

i upgraded my mercs in no particular order but i chose archer since their silence skill can be very useful. still, it's up to you. oh, and make sure you have enough ashen. you can farm them at the eight trigrams.

I do not upgrade my mercenaries in order but I suggest that you upgrade the gunner. My main character is a gunner, and I feel that he is strong than the other mercenaries out there. Well, just my opinion though.

I guess you have to upgrade the gunner. Gunner is much stronger than archer IMO. Shamans are only there for the healing isn't it? So a good defense would be a good offense. Upgrade the gunner.
I didn't have any particular order when I upgraded my mercenaries my first one was also swordsman. I'm having trouble choosing between the gunner and archer... But, the shaman, I would save for last. Like eseng said, good defense would be good offense. Why don't you collect enought ashen so that you could udgrade both mercenaries at the same time? Problem solve!
I also do not upgrade my mercenaries in order. Whoever comes first to be upgraded, I upgrade them immediately. Not all are in the same level that is why not all are simultaneously needed to be upgraded.
i suggest you upgrade the shaman, her heal becomes AoE after you upgrade her with ashen crystals, im not sure though if it happens at that level or at level 50
I hate to point out the obvious here but... upgrade them all ! ¬.¬
Even at level 60 mobs still drop lots of Ashen Crystals!.. so dont concern yourself about which one to upgrade next.. just carry on questing and upgrade the mercs that seem to die more often first.
