Persuade a mercenary

Hi there. I came to the quest where I need to get another mercenary. I tried getting the monk in the market in Angkor Wat, but I failed to recruit him. I offer him money, but he said that I am no sincere enough, so he won't join me. I offer another set of money but still, my grade on his 'dislike' seems to go higher and higher. Any strategy on how you persuade a mercenary?

    I got a shaman by persuading her to join my party. Try this strategy, first give him 5k, then 2.5k, then another 2.5k, then another 2.5k. That's what I did with my shaman. I do not know if it can be applied to a monk, but you can try that one.

    I believed that you need a certain amount of will also to persuade a mercenary. There are times that you need to give up your will to talk to an npc. So, it might be that you still lack the Will. So, better check it out first again and try aswell what he said, on the way he gave money to the monk to persuade him.

    I haven't tried persuading any wandering mercenaries in the game since I am not sure on how to go about it. That and I don't have that much gold. Maybe I'll try the techniques given here once I'm able to hire another mercenary for my party.

    im not so suyre about the exact science in here as well, last time id did this quest i gave away i think 40k in order just to get a box from the merc.. rarther expensive but at the time i did it the going rate for a merc box is around 63k so i didnt mind shelling out the money at all

    hmm. all i know about persuading is to not carry a lot of money with you while you're at it. i guess it increases the mercenary's tendency to shell out money from  you.

    though i'm not sure how much exactly you can carry with you. i guess 75,000gold or so would be enough?
