FPS: Unreal tourament 2k4
I loved the variety of game modes and the thousands of custom made maps. It was great to see what players could come up with.
RPG: Final fantasy 9
I just really liked the characters and story.
MMORPG: World of warcraft.
It definitely has its problems, but I had so many great and fun moments that it wouldn't feel right to list any other game. I just wish it didn't end in such a redundant fashion.
RTS: Command and conquer
My first RTS that I got when I wasn't even a teenager. Was my first connection to PC gaming.
Fighting game:Super smash brothers
My friends and I would spend hours upon hours playing this game back in high school. Its one of the only games, outside of beer pong, that everybody gets excited about at a party. LOL
Edit: Guilty gear x2 is a very close second
Comments
Well, I still like old school games, so here it is.
FPS: Counter strike and Doom
This is the 'hot' FPS game when I was growing up
RPG: I've got to say Metal Gear Solid from PS1
MMORPG: Atlantica Online
It gives us gamers fresh look on MMORPG.
RTS: Starcraft
Command and Conquer is my first RTS, but I prefer Starcraft.
Fighting Game: Any Tekken Series
I remember those sleepless nights just to spend the game with my friends and relatives.
FPS: I would have to go with UT GOTY and UT 2k4
Played both of them and they were great games played 2k4 more then any other FPS game probably because I was in the most awesome clan ever go Kush! "If you can't beat um, ban um" that was our motto after we went undefeited on VCTF and everyone said we were cheating. It wasn't cheating we were just that good.
RPG: I'd have to go with ElderScrolls 3 Morrowind.
I don't think there was anything I didn't do in that game and the Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions. If you want a free for all RPG with a decent storyline check it out. I couldn't get into Oblivion because it seemed more of the same just better graphics and a few other percks.
MMORPG: FFXI for sure
I love this game and always will it's unique with the party based system and the community is the best I've seen in any MMO to date. The thing is I just don't have the time or patience for it at this point in my life maybe after I move to my new job I'll have a better schedule and can start playing again more often.
RTS: I'd have to go with Age of empires 2 age of kings
I remember many a LAN party with this game at my friends house it was a great way to spend a weekend or friday night. Played some Age of Mythology too but it didn't have the depth or amount of races you could choose like Age of kings had
Fighting: TEKKEN!!!!
I love the tekken series my favorite would have to be tekken tag ot tekken 4. I know a lot of people didn't like tekken 4 because of the maps but I prefer it more then tekken 5 which is basically the same game with different maps.
Other: I'm not sure what genre Mario Party and mario cart would fall into but I loved playing those game with my brother-in-law and all of his friends and family many a great night was spent playing those games and when it comes to mashing buttons really really fast I cannot be beat!
FTS i would say COD4
RPG KOTOR
MMO none currently but i cant wait for SW:TOR
RTS im in love with the END WAR demo
I'm Here. I'm Awesome. Get Used To It.
FPS: CS hsuahushua ^^

FPS: CS
RPG: Super Mario (The Grand Daddy of all RPG)
MMORPG: Atlantica Online
RTS: Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, Starcraft
Fighting: Street Fighter and Tekken
FPS: halo
meh don't like shooters but if I had to play one I'd go for that one first. shooters just make more sense on consoles because you can more in all directions and aim in all directions at the same time.
RPG: Final fantasy tactics
An rpg that actually has some depth in it's combat system, and more hidden content than you can shake a stick at(and more content than what the rest of the FF games release with).
MMORPG: wurmonline
first MMO that I loved, the only thing is that after 2 some years on it I ran out of stuff I wanted to do
RTS: civIV and age of Empires III
Growing from cavemen is fun.
Fighting game: super smash bros
It's actually fun to play with people and doesn't result in someone getting punched in the gut.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
FPS: DOOM, haven't played any since, don't really care for them
RPG: Is Diablo II an rpg? If so, Diablo II, if not, then...how about the last Wizardry game, VII or VIII - I don't remember which. It was the best tactical combat rpg I ever played.
MMORPG: WoW, nothing else compares and I've tried them all. I do like LoTRO but it's a distant second. CoH/CoV are a very distant 3rd.
RTS: Warcraft II, I enjoyed AoE but not nearly as much.
Fighting: None, nada, don't like them
Strategy (fading & forgotten category): Civilization IV
FPS: Half Life - The first FPS that felt like a real story was unfolding and had a cinematic quality. Shame I couldn't get past one particular level.
RPG: Space 1889 - Played it as a kid when computers still had mystique. Felt like the most in-depth and immersive game at the time. Looks like arse now.
MMORPG: World of Warcraft - My first MMORPG. I've been through more highs and lows with this game than any other, but I still love it.
RTS: Command and Conquer series - Played every single variation of this series, including Tiberian Sun. Great graphics, wonderfully cheesey cutscenes and awesome music.
Fighting game: Mortal Kombat - Not a fan of this genre. I chose MK 'cos it brings back memories of childhood.
Simulation: Rollercoaster Tycoon - Had to add this genre as it's my favourite. I'm not embarassed that RCT is my second favourite game of all time behind WoW. Had an element of freedom and sandbox gameplay like no other.
FPS: Half life 2
Great story and great gameplay! Cant wait for Epsiode 3
RPG: Planescape: torment
One of the best games ever made, sadly not many seems to have played it!
MMO: LotrO
Most immersive and best use of story! Great content and graphics aswell!
RTS: Starcraft
Also liked WC 2/3 alot but SC is more unique...
Fighting: Tekken
Not a big fan of the genre but have had alot of fun with Tekken
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
FPS: Half Life - Firearms mod (ns was good but FA ruled) - best mod ever not many players due to the fact that you had to aim with your gun .
RPG: Xenogears - can'tz beatz
MMORPG: DAOC ,STILL the best mmorpg out there folks seriously i wish people would for god knows what reason just all swarm the servers, for all the game is currently missing is high amounts of players (server mergers has allowed it to continue but still not as many new toons etc made).
RTS: so hard. I love age of mythology becuase of the stratagy invloved... over all Red alert 2 was just soo good.
Fighting game: Supa smasha
Simulation: Hmm odd catagory often contain flight sims. X-wing vs tie fighter in that case, if not FREE ENTERPRISE (best make a workign model thign ever, you build your own factory)
Whatz about stratagy? X-com (later titled X-com ufo defense) - just mind blowing. (though ff tactics also goodz).
"Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine
Ohh, I forgot about Mortal Kombat. That was a great series. My favorite was mortal kombat 3 when they had a shit ton of characters, a ton of levels, babalities, animalities, 2 fatalities per character, level fatalities, and friendship...alities(?). Yea those were the good days.
MMO - None currently. Tried AOC,LOTRO and WAR and all did not seem to hold my interest that long. FFXI is probably still the best mmo I ever played.
RTS - Starcraft. Spent tons of time playing. I really enjoyed it.
RPG - Diablo series bar none. Simply the greatest rpg ever made and Diablo 3 looks very promising.
FPS - Used to play Quake alot back in the days.

RPG: Final fantasy V , Zelda Ocarina of time,Shadow Hearts trilogy and Shin megemi tensai series.
FFV= Loved the story and job system and Zelda was just epic all over
Shadow Hearts = i loved the fact the it was set out of the typica rpg scene. was set in ww2 but if the world had magic and demons.
Shin Megemi tensai = Great Artwork and Great stories.
MMORPG: Lineage 2 , FF11

Fighting: Dead or Alive.. drool :P (nah, really M.K.)
"TO MICHAEL!"
FPS: Heretic II
RPG: Fallout
MMORPG: Ultima Online
RTS: Warcraft
Fighting game: Street Fighter II (arcade)
Classics all. I might be tempted to add the Ultima series in the RPG category but for a single title Fallout wins.
Oddly enough, every game listed is still quite playable and fun. They stand the test of time rather well.
fps: combat arms
rpg: final fantasy, by far the best rpg game in the world
mmo: guild wars/ the longest iv ever played was runescape saddly/ i never really like wow (never gave me a good vibe)
rts: stronghold crusaders
fighting: tekken
MMORPG: gotta be Starquest online why? because its an indy game that the devs care about
RTS: probably command and conquer or star craft they are both about equal for me
Flash games: at this point in time fig hunter games
Browser/text based: forum warz why? because its funny
FPS: Half life
RPG: Tactics Orge, and Morrowind
MMORPG: i dont really have a favorite.
RTS: AoE, Total War, Battle Realms, Stronghold Crusader, All the CnC games made by westwood and War 40k are all joint favorites for me. RTS is by far my favorite genre, hence why I really want to play a good MMORTS. ;p
Fighting game: Never really liked fighting games, but I guess Mortal Kombat would be my favorite.
FPS: Tribes
Half-life is a close 2nd.
RPG: Fallout
Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate is another close 2nd.
MMORPG: Asheron's Call 1
No MMORPG to date has been more fun (or aggravating...damn corpse runs) than AC1.
RTS: Starcraft
No RTS to date has been more fun to play online against your friends than SC. I am looking forward to Starcract 2 but I doubt it will surpass the fun of the original.
Fighting game: Killer Instinct (Arcade Version)
I actually dropped college classes due to going and playing this back in the day at the arcade and bowling alley.
