LF a "deep" MMO

ozmonoozmono Member UncommonPosts: 1,211

I've played most mmo's available and hate the typical ones like wow. I like ATITD for its crafting but want more to a game than just building. I also like wurm alot but I feel like something new at the moment. I want a sandbox game, strong crafting system, meaningful pvp (RvR), strong roleplaying(I mean strong, for example I wouldn't call an RP server on a game like wow deep still) and/or some serious strategical/tactical game (I'm open to browser based strategy games) Finally I'm aware of games in development like adellion and darkfall which I'm looking forward to very much but I'm looking for something now. Any suggestions?

EDIT I'm not sold on WAR either

You could try Magic of the Gods. Someone has been criticizing it on this site recently, but it's my favorite game. It is a sandbox game. In fact, that's part of what it was being criticized for. It has virtually endless possibilities for players to create content, but not huge amounts of content that the game devs put into it already. The storyline is that it's a new world, recently created by the gods and they're not finished creating it yet. The game devs keep adding content every time the gods create more of the world.

It has PvP, PvE, trading, strategic stuff between realms, great role playing. It's the only game I know of where everyone is role playing all the time.

It is weak on graphics. It's also weak on crafting in that there's little or no crafting skills that already exist, but players can create their own crafting skills virtually without limit so that's either fantastic or totally lacking depending on how you look at it.

No offence iceman32, but are you really getting paid to promote that game like cmon man i love my game and i don't even suggest it on every single thread, look at all your posts...there all promoting a games thats on for 2 hours 2 times a week?and your actually liking that? the game barely has a good enough engine to do anything interesting, are you maybe the dev of the game or charlie?

For a sandbox game definetly check out Eve and ryzom as there the best sanfboxes out there

I'm trying to get more people to play it so I can recruit them to join my in-game kingdom. The game hardly has any people playing it and my kingdom only has three people counting me.

Now that there are titles, I have the title of "King" of Radnaria and yes, they put "King" in quotes like it doesn't really count. If I get more people to join my kingdom, I think I'll get more respect. The dwarf princes won't even recognize the existence of my kingdom.

It may be small, but my kingdom is the only human kingdom in the game. We really should have a kingdom of our own and not let the dwarves run the world. I just need more people.

I think OP's post is just fine. we should not yell marketing marketing every time a guy/girl want to show us some of his/het passion for a game. By the way I play AoC man, drop by on Zug server sometime and I'll show you some really hot fatality moves.

I'd have to say Eve as well is the closest to your description.  Possibly AO.

    Urban Dead.

No crafting to speak of, and the metagame with the wiki and private organizing is arguably most of what happens, but people don't even think of it as roleplaying in that game. You just ARE a human or a zombie. Not only that, you are part of a particular horde or a particular neighborhood. If you play a survivor, you won't just fear the horde and rush to deal with their incursions - you will grow to despise other survivor groups more than you thought was possible. And the strategy & communication involved in the block to block fighting & building defense can become pretty intense.

I had to quit this game because I didn't like how angry I was getting at the other players.

Have a look at the history section in the wiki and see if it might interest you.

Damn you I'm getting sucked in again already.

Give EVE a go, if it's too abstract for you give EQ2 or Vanguard a shot :)

Eve is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

EQ2 is easier than WoW now (I liked it at release), Vanguard is just kinda dead, and easy too.

Try Cabal  Online - Good crafting. You have two sides to crafting here, but the crafting costs a lot. And high level skill cards do cost a lot. Not to mention the craft materials. And Cabal is similar to WoW.

Spellborn is coming soon, worth to have a look on.

Maybe you should try that Vanguard trial also, the game have evolved quite a lot and the crafting possibilitys there is huge.

That's great! All my posts about this are getting some results at least.

I don't know when they're going to have the Magic of the Gods server up 24/7, but I saw on the forum where an announcement from the devs said it wasn't up 24/7 "YET". That "yet" part implies that at some point it will be up 24/7. I saw where they're talking about adding a weekend session now.

I was mistaken when I said elsewhere on this forum that it's in open beta. Now I see on the forum where they are saying it's more like "pre-alpha", but they are allowing anyone to playtest it for free. To me that sounds like about the same thing as open beta. I didn't realize how unfinished it was at first.

If you do play and want to join my kingdom, here's how to get there. To get to Radnaria, you have to take a ship to Worfin Island, then you can wade or swim over to my islands. The edge of Kingsland Island is like 50 feet from the edge of Worfin Island. Watch out for ogres, though. There have been ogres seen on Worfin Island just across the water from the Radnarian Isles. I'm trying to assemble a force big enough to kill them off. In this game, that should actually get rid of them since creatures usually don't respawn.

Were you there? I got into the game late, maybe I missed you. I was in my kingdom most of the time. Just a quick trip to Stondar Island to sell stuff was the only time I was away after I got logged on.

If you do create a character, tell me your character's name. You can post it here, or better yet, send me a private message.
