This is exactly what I will do. I can't say which will be better for me until I try them both.
Hopefully I can beta test them both, even though I don't really think a beta is a place for playing a game to see if you like it. The beta is a test afterall, and most games will still have bugs and things that won't give you a very good taste of the game, but overall you can get a feel for a game through beta.
I know Wow will have Open Beta so I will check it out then, which is good for me because I didn't pre-order it. I did pre-order Everquest II because I have a feeling this will be the better game for me, but one never knows. I have complete faith in Blizzard and I think WoW will be an excellent mmorpg.
It'll be a difficut decision. I'll probably have to take into account my friends and guildmates and where they decide to go. My guild in Dark Age of Camelot is splitting and forming a new chapter for WoW.
I have many friends from my Player Association in SWG that will be trying out Everquest II. Either way, I will be with friends, but if both games are equally fun to play, the deciding factor may just be where most of my friends are . . .
Another issue that comes to mind when I choose my game is the amount of time that you "NEED" to invest to be competitive. I have a full-time job and college courses, so I don't really have the time for the traditional leveling grind. With this in mind, I am kinda leaning towards the more skill-based games rather then the leveling games. But I love a leveling system...This is such a hard decision to make.
I hear that. I am also limited to the amount of time I can spend playing a mmorpg. It wouold seem that Guild Wars would be a fitting choice: no monthly fee, progression is based on player strategy and skill instead of time spent in-game, but there will also be a lot of coordination and communication between players and guilds, which leads me to believe that it will take up more time than I originally thought.
I think competitive mmorpgs like Guild Wars will be something fun, but I am still leaning towards the traditional leveling system where you need to put in many hours. If I can't keep up, then I guess that's going to be something I've gotta live with, but I am still going to be playing as much as I can.
I don't think there will be much of a difference in WoW and EQ2 as far as the grind. They say WoW will have a wide-ranging quest system that will offer a break from the hunting grind. Everquest II will offer more close-knit groups of players, focusing on small parties rather than huge guilds that go out on raids is something I think is a great idea. Both games have so much to do, it will be impossible to play them both at once.

I agree with you 100%. I actually might end up playing WW2 online then guild wars when that comes out...but I think I will hold off on deciding until I play the WoW beta and (hopefully) the EQ2 closed (>:|)beta.
Im probably going to go with Wow due to the fact that it seems a little different, and all Eq2 looks like is just another EQ1, dont see the need of getting it. Also WOw is gonna be offereing an open beta. Hopefully i will be able to get into that. Did i mention eq2 is from SOE
Well to me there is no comparison, it's EQ2 for me, I wouldn't touch WOW with a 10 foot pole. I think the answer is simple, if you are into PvP then the choice is obviously WOW, if you are all about PvE then EQ2, also they are just different styles of games, although I don't see how some people prefer WOW's graphics, some people do, we can't decide for you which you think is better.
Why wouldn't you touch WoW with a ten foot pole? To "kiddie" for you. I'm getting WoW but I wouldn't say "I'll never play EQ2." Both games are probably going to be cool.
