Just sitting here wondering after looking at the SS's and reading about how massive the game is going to be, how hard does everyone think (or hope for some people) the comp req's are going to run the game? I'm hoping it won't be too harsh, considering it will completely diminish the possible player base (and force me to buy a new rig). I was hoping it would maybe have the same req's (not the same style of course) of something along the lines of WAR , but considering this game will be out at least a year+ away this seems highly unlikely.
Any thoughts?

I'd guess that a high end system today will run it fine.
remember that a year or more down the line today's top of the line will be pretty cheap.
i bet it will be about the same as the Aion reqs.
The Hero Engine so i'm guessing if you wanna play it on MAX Settings
Quad Core 4 GHZ CPU
Nvidia GTX 280 Video Card
8 GB DDR3 RAM
500 GB HDD 10k RPM (min)
16 MPBS Internet connection
But I'm hoping that it will around the requirements of Crysis and Age of Conan, so nothing spectular
OMG I have a 386 with the 387 chip.. 25mhz.. and 1 mb or dipp's with pins.
No GPU.
I fully expect it to wurk on my modernz machine...
Now for a serious response to the original poster. Dude its' 2009 get a clue..
No offense but if anyone is a serious PC gamer and a paid subscriber player at that then you
should have a modern .65nm or better rig..
If not then buy a rig. Any talk of reduced playerbase is horse excrement.
We WILL NOT have noobs with antiques dragging the rest of us down anymore...
Time for some good games not old thinking or rehashed stuff.
Sorry but if you have an Antique POS you should not expect a very modern MMO to
have to worry about supporting old shatners.
Why angry? Because it's nonsense like this that has held the whole pc game industry back
while standardized shader enhanced consoles rise.
I get so tired of seeing posts on game forums from some idiot asking how to set up the game on his 5 year old laptop with an integrated, memory sharing graphics card.
Unless you recently purchased it, and it is rated as a "gaming notebook" computer, chances are you shouldn't load any modern games on it.
If you have an antique rig (2 years or more older) You aren't a "Gamer", stop pretending to be. Go to newegg.com and upgrade your relic (at least your memory and video card).

i completely agree with both of you, i really hope this game looks as phenominal as it deserves. what i wonder now is, will this be as immersive as the original SWG? i assume it's going to have some of the same elements but i have to admit i was a bit put off by the option of being a jedi from day 1, i found it very interesting and immersive that the jedi path had to be unlocked in SWG. also, how much will combat dicate the players' capabilites, as with SWG you actually didn't have to fight, you could harvest and craft without even picking up a weapon.
just some thoughts.
I am sure that today computer should be working for Star Wars :The old
republic. If you can run Warhammer or World of warcraft or even age of conan
Youre ok ..i hope it not too high .
