I've tried to follow this game pretty closely and I've never heard anything like that. If they were going to put it on any console system then it would probably be a slightly different game made just for the consoles and probably wouldn't come out until after at least a couple of years after the pc mmorpg version so that they could try to see any adjustments that they may have to make. The EQ console game didn't come out until EQ was what 5 years old?
While the devs haven't given a yes or no on the answer they have hinted it may be a Xbox2 game as well. Vanguard will be using XNA technology which allows it to work on any microsoft system, so if they do go with the Xbox2 then there will be no change from pc to consule or visa versa.
From the FAQ:
1.8 What is this XNA I keep hearing about from Microsoft and how will it affect Vanguard?
XNA is a growing group of software tools that allow developers to more rapidly develop their games. Additionally, Microsoft wants to share tools and technology between its different platforms (e.g. Win32, Xbox, future platforms).
Vanguard is one of the chief early adopters of this ever-growing group of software. For example, we will be using technologies from Xbox live, voice communication, and already have the ability to play the game via an Xbox-style controller with a tiny keyboard attached to it (a TID).
There will be more information about all of this later.
1.8.1 Does this mean that Vanguard is a multi-platform game?
Vanguard has been announced as a Windows game. We remain open to the idea of taking advantage of future architectures, but nothing is written in stone. Certainly, Vanguard would not run on the existing Xbox platform.
Now that they went to SOE and not MicroSoft, I'd think they'd release it on the PS and not the xBox. But, as already mentioned, the FAQ states it will be PC only.
to my knowledge none of the current or upcoming consoles have the required resources to run a game like vanguard, the high amount of memory needed to run mmo's lacks in these consoles.
maybe an older mmo game could be put on a console but certainly not vanguard.

I don't know about that, you would be suprised. I think they should put Vanguard on Xbox 360 and PS3, which I think they could handle the game, that would help out the subscriptions quite a bit.

both the xbox 360 and the playstation3 have 512 MB of memory, vanguard will probably take at the very minimum 512 just to run that one program.
not to mention the memory needed to run the console, i don't see it happening without sigil heavily modifying the game to be playable on a console system much like soe did with eqoa....a completely different game from the PC version of eq.

Just my opinions.
