Howdy folks. I am an oldtimer of an AoC hero. I have played the game for ever and am still hanging in there. I play a lot on the TL servers to get the newest content available. I have a leathal Assasin there called the GodFather.
So what am I trying to post here besides just trying out the MMORPG forums? Well, I guess not very much, besides that I really sense that patch 3.0 is ready to go now and I have some comments in context to that. Patch 3.0 have had 12 batches of code stacked into it by now. The whole thing is becomming a BEAST!! I think some of you guys really will enjoy some of the patch 3.0 content. I will be quite surprised if it is not out the door by next Wednesday. If you have questions on this patch, you can ask me as I almost feel like an expert now. And another thing, ex assasins, it's time for you to resub. Assasins have got a lot of love as of late. They have awesome backstab fatalities implemented and new assasin weapons you can craft to torture the poor NPC's that get in your way.
Sidenote: I just love the assasin class as it is the one class that requires the most IQ to play. Assasins if build right can slit the throat of a guy 10-15 levels higher than you. If you know how to follow up your devestating backstab damage you can take the toughest guys out there in the blink of an eye. It is truly a rush, becuase as much as you have very leathal attacks under given circumstances you are at the same time screwed if you try to take the good old eye for an eye attack kind of appoach with most characters in the game. Assasins are finally shaping up to be the outsider it always was intended to be. I will post some fatality snaps here if I ever manage to get some while it happens. Take care and look for the Godfather if you join TestLive.

Deja Vu...
Welcome to the forums Transporter.
Ok folks there is nothing wrong with postiing that you really enjoy playing to the test server and think all who have unsubscribed to resubscribe. The Poster likes his assasin and good for him if he happens to work for Funcom im sure its only just a coincenadance. I do think any game company would stoop that low as to have gost posters, posting here.
MAGA
Hooray for conspiracy theories. You guys crack me up, anything positive MUST be a Funcom employee.
I'm glad you are excited for a huge patch. We were paying for bi weekly patches and so far they are 6 weeks behind on the last one. It makes little to no sense to conglomerate patches where so much of the game remains unfinished/unpatched.
Of course it is their decision. What they should be focused on is, merging servers/figuring out character transfers and getting 2 patch teams, with a one month release schedule for each team, that way you get 2 patches a month, and you get this fucking game fixed up. Each team can be given half the major issues that need to be fixed and run with whatever they can fix. This saving up fixes into big patches is nice if you need a high amount of uptime but really I think the community would value fixes over uptime after waiting 6 weeks since our previous one.
Also we are seriously on the watch for Funcom employess/ i.e. those being compensated by funcom to come over here and try to pump up AOC. Come on, no more marketing, deliver the fucking code and builds we paid for at release.
Say no to big patches that fix hardly anything and demand the content we already paid for!
It's odd that you can question my intentions looking on my joindate, when you joined just 3 days before me. If your questions do anything, I would guess they put a questionmark after your own intentions.
As I said before, I exclusively play on TL. This enables me to comment on what's in the pipeline for AoC, if there is any interest for that. There are so many new fixes and implementations in patch 3.0 that I think a guy like me could be usefull in some of your discussions. Also, do not talk down to me as if I am some crazy person that has got the fanboi love for AoC. I know my games alright.
For your notes on me enjoying patch 3.0 and that you are happy for me, I thank you. But I did not come here to tell you how much I enjoy it and I belive I did not either. I said that patch 3.0 is shaping up from a very objective standpoint and that I belive we should see it next Wednesday. The other thing I said was that assasins will get much love in this patch.
Questions about patch 3.0 anyone? No? Ok so let me mention a good point pr day then.
* The grouping Gui has been revamped. It's very easy to drag characters from one group to the other group in a raid now. It is also more easy to shuffle raid groups within the raid, add people or kick people. Basically a very good drag and drop based interface. I thought this was usefull a usefull detail that most people did not know about..
I would try it after the 3.0 monster giga-ultimate patch but only if someone else pays for my sub.
I have already given FC too much money and not gotten anything out of it, I barely played during my last month (would log in, realise I had more important things to do, like re-arranging my sock drawer) and log out. I played maybe 7 hours of the last month.
So no, I doubt anything they do now will get people back that already left. We already bought a lemon and returned it, there is no reason to go back and re-buy the same lemon.
Are the 1000+ sets of armor in game yet?
To be honest I don't know how many armors they added. I know there is a shitload more due to PvP armors, just regular armors as in blue drops and all the 100d's of new crafting receipes in the game. I found recently myself a very special Helmet that makes me look like a mean Roman Warrior. LOL. Ave Cesar!
Edit: The recepeis are still on TL and will be introduced with patch 3.0. I think it will be out coming Wednesday.
I thought I read somewhere that those new sets are for high level players only (end game-ish). Is this true or have new sets been introduced at all levels?
No. PvP levels can you acrew from low levels of so by definition, since PvP armor is in, you can get new low level armors too. For the general drops I don't know how many low level vs high level they stuck in. My Ave Cesar Helmet is on one of my Alts in the 50's so just from my experience I would think it's not only highlevel stuff that has been added.
Im seriously considering making this post my signature.
But Soupy!!!! - Its our NEW and IMPROVED lemon and Pezz and the rest of the paid posters are HAVING A GRRRREEAT TIME - JOIN THEM? LOL
Some people are like slinkies, they dont really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Don't take it personal man. You won't get very many to listen to you if your all sunshine and rainbows be a bit more objective and don't come off as so rose coloured glasses. Secondly some just jump to conclusions when they see a feshly created account pop up and say you should resub.
Many that frequent the AoC MMORPG forum are a skeptical lot when it comes to FC and AoC after much of what has happend in AoC's history so far. So they want the good and the bad if your going to tell them anything about a patch or anything.
This is good for you as well though. Because if you get one of the skepticals to resub with an everything is wonderful now type of post what would happen when they find one bug or issue after would start a brand new hate campaign. As of now for the most part it has settled down because many have just moved on. So if your going to make a post in the hopes someone resubs your best bet is to be open, honest and objective. Gotta give the good and the bad otherwise many won't believe you and if some do they will be back on a flame parade as soon as they find a flaw that wasn't mentioned.
As far as server populations rising what I noticed is back when all populations got pretty low those that were decent began a reroll on our server campaign. What happend was many DID. Cimeria and Set both saw increases while other servers lost even more. These were servers with like 4 others that were recomended as good re-roll servers. And many people have stated that they did just that. There are tons of posts that claim they re-rolled on such and such server and have enjoyed it since. Many are doing this because Server merge's or transfers seem to far away to do them any good. Which sucks because there are those they have left behind that see fewer and fewer on there server which has caused even more to leave. It's not the population is seeing growth, it's the population is getting tired of playing alone so they re-roll. Deny this if you want but this is just what I observed happening.
Thread after thread complaining about low pop and asking for merge's or transfers. Reply after reply said go to Cimeria for RP PvP, Go to Set for PvE go to Tyranny or w/e and quit QQ'ing. Many have been asking what servers have good pop so they know where to re-roll and they do. Now all of a sudden these same servers that have been repeatedly recomended to others as viable re-roll servers are claiming a pop increase....... Well DRRRRRRRRR! lol. Many many many were told to re-roll onto those servers and they did. This is supported by the fact that other servers are constantly loosing more and more people. If it was an increase in the population for the most part it would be random and effect all servers and be less noticable on already decent pop servers. This however isn't the case. Many are simply re-rolling from low pop servers to higher pop servers.

There is no incentive for me to preach or talk people into playing AoC. I do not care so most of your text is a waste. What I want to do though, is to comment on the posts here which is totally off technically. I play on TL exclusively and feel I can contribute with good comments on how game is doing and how the next patch will be.

I totally agree and your conclusion is probably accurate. When I was on Tyranny a large portion of the 2nd guild I had created there told me of their refugee status. That is something I mentioned on another post too.
However, what led to the decline on those other servers, will lead to the decline on Tyranny, Set, and whichever servers have at this point staved off a steep decline and that is, faliure to deliver what was promied combined with flawed game mechanics. Once the first hints of those servers failing, the first measurable and consisten decline trend begins and is reported the game is done. If you don't have subscribers you don't have a reason to keep developing a product. If you don't develop the product and it is as clearly unfinished as AOC is, your game is done.
I give Funcom until Christmas to release DX10, All of the PVP system, Guild Management Rights, Siege for T2 keeps, Better groups that provide actual XP increases, and finally a larger guild bank or a way to market crafted items or good items to the rest of your guild via the trader system, othewise the nails in this coffin are already in.

I understand that I was just explaining many won't listen unless you tell them about the Good AND the bad. Otherwise it will just be percieved in a way you did not intend like it already has judging by the replies that followed your initial post.
edited to add my reasoning behind what I said:
There have been far to many hater trolls and fanboi trolls. If you have nothing but negative comments your disregarded as a hater troll and if you have nothing but praise your disregarded as a fanboi troll. I mean FC isn't a complete dissaster nor is it a booming success. It's in the middle ground.

Thanks for those comments, but you don't have to tell me "don't lie". Right now I give positive comments because there are reasons for positive comments. I belive patch 3.0 will be a very successful patch. I have tested it and I think the amount of revamps, fixes and content in that patch will surprise many. My comments are ligit.

Stealth atack is receiving another nerf bat. Double tapping nerfed, so no more double tap backwards for evasion. Makes our survivibility even more poor.
Hide is still not fixed
Burst is being dumbed down in the game. No more burst means healers will get even more OP, both indirectly nerf the Sin.
At the moment, the Assassin and Barbarian are one of the most poorly constructed classes for solo'ing and PvE purposes. When I tried a Guardian, Bear Shaman, Tempest of Set or Priest of Mitra, they are godly in comparison. Don't even bother to argue, I have experienced the gameplay from all class perspectives.
If your definition of love means getting the middle finger, then yes I'd agree with you.
Alright so the only thing you know for sure about, that is coming from my list is, the 2nd half of the PVP system. I already knew that was coming with this patch, about 2 weeks ago because they told us that. But it doesn't matter dick, on a PVE server, which is where the game is really struggling. It also doesn't really matter on PVP either because both the majority of players have already quit and with them the gankers in large part are gone as well. I'm bascially calling that change, welcome, but irrelevant. It was also something that should have been in the game at launch or in the first month, then we'd be talking about 400k-600k subscribers instead of 100-200k and we'd be talking about how else the game could be improved instead of when server merges are coming.
DX10 is not coming with this patch. If patches are to be deployed every 6 weeks now, that puts the next one, to be released just before Christmas, if next wednesday is the actual delivery date for patch 3.0.
One of the broken game mechanics is the fact that siege is UNOBTAINABLE BY THE MAJORITY OF THE PLAYER BASE. 75% of players are not in the 25% of guilds which are T3. That means at best, you have 12% of the remaining players engaging 12% of the remaining players in siege warfare. Explain to me with 500 players on a server during peak time, and maybe 10% of those making up the 2 guilds able to war, you end up with 50 total there, you get a 96 man siege going? It can't happen with the current game mechanic. That needs to be fixed. You've never heard about it because the developers have an obession with thinking their is nothing wrong with their mechanics, and all their problems are performance, class balance, and itemization issues.
They are not!
If I were to come back and create another guild Tyranny, I'd want everybody in my guild to have access to the bank, in order to do that I'd have to give them all premission to kick everybody else in the guild. If I did that, I would expose that guild to the same thing that happened to Excelsior Elite 2 weeks after the guild was created. I'd log in one day as guild master and find over 100 members had been instantly disbanded. That's a game mechanic flaw which is another example of why this game is failing. For that to exist 5 months after retail release is a fucking shame and disgrace.
The reason they don't know what their problems are, is because they actively work to encourage a strict moderation of any game negativity on their forums, and they don't implement suggestions so players have largely stopped making them. Except for the bandwagon suggestion of the week, which we all know is server merges and has been because the game is cycling itself inot an unsustainable black hole.
I know you are optimisitc and enjoying the game. That's good, it will not be around next year, if they don't deliver features they promised, if they don't fix broken game mechanics, if they don't implement player suggestions, simply fixing bugs and delivering one single major addition which should have been n there months ago, each 6 weeks isn't going to be fast or good enought to retain the critical mass necessary to keep the game alive.
Certianly there is no way in hell the populations are growing in the absence of an econonomy. I'm glad you are enjoying the game. I'm hoping 2009 will be very fortunate for Age of Conan. 2008 was a complete and total disaster and it is a real miracle they even think they can compete moving forward.
Patchnotes for patch 3.0 is all over the place. Read it and you will understand why people hardly bother to answer you. The patch is huge and holds a tonn of new content, fixes, performance increase, revamp and so on. Let me just specify one thing, notoriety system was never supposed to be in from launch. Notoriety system was announced end of June as a new feature. Patch 2.0 hold the PvP system that was supposed to be in from launch. And finally WTF are you talking about no economy. I had to buy stuff on the trader yesterday and the demand for certain items and trade resources is so high that I had to spend a fortune. The more I read of your post the more I think you actually have not played the game in a looong while (maybe never). Are you Lumache?

I'm Lord Bonezy I don't know who Lumache is, is that a character? I'm from Haunman server, a server with under 100 peak population on the weekend, with 6 active guilds left, with no active forum posts in about 5 days, no new threads in over 2 weeks.
I'm from the server where there were no T1 resources being traded because there are no new guilds being formed because they aren't driving new players into the game because they haven't fixed the majority of what is broken in their game.
The PVP system was supposed to be introduced right after launch. If it had been, the gank squads at level 80 would not have driven 300,000 players in the level range of 20-30 away from the game. 3-5 months later, if the level 24 gank squads would have been regulated by this system another 150,000 under level 20 characters would not have quit the game. I'm telling you it doesn't matter when it was supposed to be in the game. What matters is it should have been the top game mechanic priority and there is no way it should have taken 150+ days to put it into the game. Nor should we be asking where DX10 is, or guild management rights either.
Yes I've seen the patch notes, I was impressed with both 2.0 and I would be with 3.0 too. However I'm equally distraught at Funcom's lack of ability in addressin KEY, CRITICAL, NECESSARY, and REAL FLAWS, with their game. Not just quantity, but quality, and prioritization.
The majority of the hundres of members I had in my guild on our PVE server were refugees from PVP servers, they were under the impression that PVP system was to be an intergral part of the game from day 1 to prevent GANKING and GRIEFING. They were under that impression because Funcom marketed the game that way!
Funcom, indeed no game developer has the resources to manage the individual gameplay of each player, ensuring they do something and don't do other things, it was highly predictable what would happen if they released the game when they did and because they did, they are in the mess they are in. That is why the SYSTEM is so very important. The SYSTEM was broken/incomplete. The system will remain broken and exploitable for guilds after this patch, the SYSTEM will for PVP will still encourage exploitation of PVP kills by the top players allowing them to get XP. The details of that are also all over the forums.
What is broken is expected to stay broken, what is unfinished is expected to stay largely unfinished for many more MONTHS, not a few more weeks! That is no way to run a game, MMO or otherwise.
If your real problem is that you are stuck on a low pop servers just say so and people will understand you. I am a TL server player by the way and want to discuss your misconception about PvP kills/ PvP XP. Can you explain better what you mean by the PvP system is broken?
In my experience when someone says this, they're usually referring to whether a system is exploitable or not. However, in my experience I've also learned, that means every multi-player system known to gaming is broken. They're all abused in some shape or form, from gold selling to straight up hacking.
Sure some systems are easier to manipulate than others, that's a valid point and deserves acknowledgment. What's more detrimental to a game though, gold exploiting/selling/farming or fight clubbing? What creates a greater amount of imbalance?

The cat is out of the bag now. Patch 3.0 will be out this week! As a TestLive player, I just want to say hedge yourself for a massive upgrade. I will mention the four things that is most important in this patch.
1. Notoriety PvP system. The consequence system is fully in place after this patch
2. Performance is increased even further
3. New content in many forms
4. A long list of bugs have been checked off the to fix list.

Performance and bugs? Some people have been saying for weeks that there are no bugs or performace issues. How can they fix something that wasn't broken?
And that "New content in many forms" sounds funny. It sounds like there is no new content good enough to mention.
