i like it and this is why :)

besides Warhammer Online all the  big shot MMO's have this extreme plastic look, they think that having 10 times more polygons make their characters more sexy....

i rather have game where the graphics breath atmosphere instead of a game where the graphics are extreme fake and make you upgrade your system for no real reason...

Yea, I am glad to see that Spellborn did not go wit the cartoonish look that other MMOs seem to done.

Spellborn has a stylized look, but it's gorgeous nonetheless.

I actually think TCoS is extremely cartoonish, more so by a long shot then even WAR tbh...

Saying this, it's no bad thing if done well, and to me the art direction is great.

    Loving the looks :)

I'm never sure what anybody means by "cartoonish", because there are all sorts of different art styles in cartoons... Though yes, I would say TCOS art style seems to be inspired by European comics, especially of the Francophone sort (bande dessinee).

I really like it; it's highly stylized, but in a way we're not used to seeing often in computer games, so it comes across as quite fresh. I also find it welcome that it has a bit of a dark fairy tale or a dream quality to it in contrast to the now-too-familiar high fantasy style. I'd say the art style seems to have more of a Tim Burton feel to it than, say, Dungeons & Dragons.

Well to me the graphics/art style matters little to none in an MMO. Graphics are for single player games.

However I will say if the gameplay and content is there then I will be content with the graphics of the game.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

That goes for me aswell, and as a plus, with graphics like this there is also a perfomance increase client side, so heres hoping that it'll run smooth server side aswell.

I agree also. I just hope it runs smooth. Otherwise, even the art decor will annoy me.

There are basically three different things that make me slightly interested in this game:

    1.) The "class" concept

    2.) The deck system

3.) The look of the game

Not often does the look of a game really effect my judgement, but I have to say this game looks quite awesome. I love the art style they are going for. It's very stylised and uncommon; the best way to describe it is looking at the world itself through a glass bottle. It's unique and fresh, to say the least.

I like the direction this game is taking. I heard about this game a few years ago but lost contact with it. The Dev's have done a masterful job I must say...Combat system, Graphics, UI all very well done.  Bravo

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

im totally in love with it.

    why ?

    because its unique

where aion... is asian style and eq/lotr/war/aoc could be considdered western style, tcos is definitly european style. im not sure if people even know that theres a small but high quality comic szene in europe, especially france and belgique.

tcos represents this european comic style for me and creates a beautifull world around it. i just hope its a success and that they can stay true to their art team/style

I have to agree with you on this one.

The game looks good but for ME it looks cartoonish but will a very good game i believe.

The game looks as cartoony as WoW and WAR but I love the graphics. The only gripe is that the hands are a bit mitteny but that's not a major issue.

Guild Wars 2 is my religion

The graphics look fine but those character models really have to go. They look so skinny like toothpick characters. Not sure that really looks appealing to people.

The graphics are not new other than the pictures, the graphics are the same "GRADE" as those found in WOW, WAR,  LOTR, and many others being created ... STARGATE ETC ..

they are LOW graphics made so that they can get as many people to play the game as possible, this is where i give AOC congratulations on not thinking about the ole mighty dollar and doing the same so they could have gotten many more people to subscribe, but instead making a game with GREAT graphics and letting those of us who are tired of the watered down looking pics to play a game that looks awesome !

Im spoiled now i guess, but ive upgraded 3 machines for family and myself so that we could play AOC and other games that may come along with great graphics because to me its not too much to spend on a computer if u love to play the games and part of it is how the game looks . and dispite what most may think, it only cost me $400 to upgrade each computer.

I was interested in the game but the graphics will keep me from playing it now im sure ... since AOC i just have a hard time now playing games that look CLUNKY, with graphics that are not very colorful or realistic looking. Most characters look like they have their armor painted on them, it just doesnt look good to me anymore.

im in no way KNOCKING people who like the low graphic games  because they play better on their machines, not everyone can or wants to upgrade so they can play higher graphic games but for me i like them better now. But no matter how good your graphics are,  the games still need smoothness of animation and a purpose, not just a grind fest to a level 60. Most of all, something to do that isnt boring for an end game .  just MHO

I like the them a lot. They are really good IMHO. They are original and they look like well designed to run smooth.

I like it, the style is really Gothic :D

Nice with a game that doesn't look like anything we seen before.

I really have to laugh at the 'it looks cartoony' discussion in regards to TCoS. The art direction was set from the very beginning by Romano Molenaar. Have a look at his website to get an idea what his profession is: www.romanomolenaar.com/gallery.html

The following should make clear my viewpoint in regards to the OP's question: When you spend most of your time looking at the scenery and continuously discover new sights (and sounds btw) that truly delight and inspires, it may dawn on you that you are running around in a 3D piece of art...

Regarding the graphics, this game has to be experienced first hand and cannot be judged by watching screenshots or a few limited videos.
