That would depend who or what you are referring to as Cartoon. They are real screenshots. Are you asking if they are cel animated or hand drawn? What difference does it make? The game looks like that now; it might look different someday.
The game is clearly supposed to look like OT concept art. You know, the incredibly obscure paintings by some random guy named Ralph McQuarrie and his anonymous band of nobodies at whatever that company is called. You may have seen their work in the back of some abandoned gallery somewhere, if you're a die hard science fiction nut or something.

I don't mind the enviroments, but the character propportions are really off putting. Feet like Skis and hands the size of plates and don't get me started on the lightsabers. If they just normalized the character propotions, that would go a long way to making everyone more accepting of their art direction.
I have to admit, I am a little worried that it might look more like 'City of Heroes' esq comic book style, then a serious Star Wars IP. Still, cartoons is the new way for Star Wars right now
I really hope they drop that cartoon style. Perhaps it's because I know the movies and not the cartoons, but there's nothing, other than the occasional lightsaber, in those screenshots, that tells me I'm looking at a Star Wars game.
No, those are [most likely] _not_ real screenshots. Those're developed through the Hero Engine; [plausibly,] the Hero Engine is not the official engine of the game.
first of all why would they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for an engine they will not use
secondly the art style has nothing to do with the engine
and last but not least one of those screens i beleive its the one with the 2 sabres locked together taken from a landing pad on koriban was taken from a video that was shown when they unveiled the game to media at the austin studio. i beleive it was commented on in one of the IGN articles.

A BW dev said about 2 years ago he liked the fluid combat style of CoH/ and the elders game of SWG( i'll dig the exact quote up later). From what I understand based on what has been said is that they are taking the best from SWG. Please don not worry until more info comes out you guys. They haven't forgotten about you guys. As for the graphics those are still are work in progress. All art is currently concept. They want to go with this stylized approach because it ages better then the photo realistic type games. It's all still being tweaked.
The character models I hope change the most because they look too comic book style. I want them to be more realistic like in SWG with all the nice motion capture and realistic walking pace and all that stuff. Where they stand idle and pull faces and do things, I want life to the characters. However looking at the screenshots they just look like comic book characters which sucks and look like they'll be very static with over exaggerated movements. One of the thigns I loved about SWG was how when you went to move or stop the character would slow down or accelerate, it wouldn't be instant movement which isn't realistic because in real life you can''t go 0 - 20mph in a instant.

That's the one thing that really bugged my about the screenshots was the size of the weapons, namely the lightsaber looked as though he was holding something that was twice the width of his arm...there is only one such screenshot where the lightsaber looks entirely too big though, so I'm not all too concerned
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

I promise you now they will not drop this style of graphics. They have already announced that they are going after WoW and to even have a chance at getting the numbers that wow has will be to make a game that will run on just about any PC like WoW.As much as I hate the NGE,I already see things in SWG that already exceed this game so far graphically speaking. I too am worried that they chose this Art style to build around. I want to make this clear to future game developers that might read this post. I liked WoW and played it for a long time, but by no means do I want to continue playing WoW like games. WoW was fun for what it is and for the time that it released,Now is the future and its time to start getting down to buisness and start making real next gen mmo's. Most computers of today are plenty powerful enough to manage next gen games outside maybe some video card and ram upgrades. Now this game has not listed a eta,so I plan to hold off awhile and wait and see,but I know it would have been better had it a more realistic look.
I was wondering. Are the graphics you see on the screenshots Cartoon graphics? Cause that would be horrible.
No I've not seen anything like that. That's a big exaggeration

I don't think these early on screenshots will have any indication as to how it will look in the end, hopefully. Regardless, I'm not too much of a stickler for graphics as long as the gameplay is fun!
Well... its just a theory but if you look at what it takes to make customizable, photo realistic characters makes for an problem with lights and shaders. they become really "expencive" (requiring alot of GPU time and VRAM). the cell shaded menthod is a way to keep the graphics scaleable and have simple lights and shaders to make beautiful... err beauifullish. I would make a half a bet that they are going for a good minimum spec... and don't care weather is looks that great.

yeah and the PR art style can open up even more disagreements in art direction. Not everyone is gonna like it either.
I personally think those screenshots look absolutely hideous and if it weren't for the (extremely large) lightsabers, I wouldn't even know it was star wars.

I think their just screwing with everyone with those screenshots and the interviews.
What do you think of this graphic and animation.

...I'm in your panties
Lets see..
1. Looks kinda anime in style
2. They are gonna release it on consoles
3. Lots of kids/teens love anime and have these consoles
I think i can figure out what people they are trying to attract.

that its The Clone Wars ... which has absolutely nothing to do with KOTOR except for the name Star Wars at the beginning.

The art direction seems to be similar to previous KOTOR titles along with comics portraying that era.
