When I started the game, I had the initial intention of making my character a woman sword user. In the starting screen, when we were first asked to create our character, we were given the opportunity to create 3 characters. Because I am not the type of person who reads instructions/guides, I thought that the 3 characters will be included in a party. So, I created a sword user, gunner and shaman. When I started the game, the shaman was the selected player so I was stuck with her. I was not happy at that time. But, when I progressed through the game, I eventually grew to love her. So, to answer my own question, yes, I am happy with my starting character! How about you guys?

Happy is such a strong world... Contented, maybe? I also have a shaman for a starting and so far so good. The good thing about shamans is that they have a healing spell which I honestly think is very important.
Shaman was my first as well... then, I tried cannon and haven't looked back yet.
Blowing stuff up is just too much fun!

I chose the character GUN, and right from the start, I felt that my decision in picking this character is right. I really like the way he hit 2 enemies in a column, and the wildshot skill is pretty good too.

Mine is archer, but i'm planning to change my character when the item mall is open. because i heard that item mall is selling amnesia vial which you can change the class of your character... i dont know hopw it works or the requirements in taking this vial... but for those who didn't like your character just check the item mall and look for the amnesia vial...
You can actually go to rome and change your character now, i believe.
As for me, my first character was a swordsman, and i had wished that I had taken a class that was a bit harder to get, such as canonner. But, now that I have an artilleryman in my party, I'm happy with the sword.
I am also a gunner. I thought that I made a mistake picking that character because, I am choosing between a sword or gunner. My first mercenaries were swords so I thought that it was pretty cool to be a swords man than a gunner. But after playing longer and longer, I started to like my character.
Yes, I do feel it as well that I've created my 1st major character, in short I blew it off. But, I've decided to level it up, I've chosen magic user type of character, It is a support type of character, so It just have to support her mercenaries. Now, atleast I've appreciate her power since atleast I'm using 2 characters having to heal her co-members, so I doesn't need to hire 2 shamans on my mercenary list.
lol. i can't help but agree (on the cannon part). my main is also a cannon and yea, i'm pretty much happy and contented with it. i like it that she can hit a lot of characters at the same time.

My main character is a gunner too but I would like to change it to cannon since it has this 'splash' damage, unlike the gunner who only hit in columns. But I guess I just have to hire a cannon than to change my main character.
I think I have read somewhere that you can indeed change your main character but never really figured out how... Where exactly in Rome can you do that? Also, if you change your character, will it retain its current level or is it back to level 1 again?
Nope. got my swordmain to 74 and its worthwhileness is failing. currently leveling two axe mains. one for me and one for a friend, both in the higher 20's atm
sorry for double post but
you can change your main character, its in rome at an NPC called "Oracle" but you cannont do so atm, as it requires a cash shop item that isnt in the game yet. your level is also not reset but your magic levels are reset

Oh... so, changing your main is not possible at this time... But, It makes me excited about the item mall! Though, I'm not sure if I really want to change my main... Haha! Anyway, thanks!

i also have a cannon and i used to think i made the right decision until ive started levelling up.. if yougo with a cannon you have no choice but to build a stun build team... basically optios become limited.. also eventually youll find your swordsmen and spear haveing +2 +3 levels above your main cannon since the cannon cannot kill of enemies.. yes he has splash, but damage is very weak. after levelling up the cannoneer for quite awhile and seeing other team builds in free league, the best hero take as you r main is a viking.. he has strong attack, and can use the guard dispel... the swordie may also be a viable option as a main.. these heroes complmented with a prophet will be unstoppabble

you need a vial of amnesia or vial of memory loss to be able to change the weapon your character is using.. all your skill points will be reset but all your bonus points spent on growth vials will remain
the shaman will soon be obsolete once the oracle becomes available... the oracle is basically an upgrade of the shaman.. this means eventually the shamn will be dipensable
on the other hand cannon wielders will also be obsolete once the cannoneer becomes available... cannon heroes will also eventually be dipensable unless you have a stun build team which makes the cannoneer and cannon hero complmentary to each other..
same story with:
gunner > jannissary
swordy > lady knight exor, even sailor i guess
spearman > spartan
WITH THE EXCEPTION of the axe wielder which cannot be replaced by a beast trainer
the axe hero can cast guard dispel and freeze.. his upgrade which is the beast master has pretty much useless skills (summon beast)
this could be a good argument for saying that the axe user courld probably be the best option for a hero
Awe... you're harsh... You're making me re-think about my love for my shaman. Well, since the item mall still isn't open... But, so far I'm happy with her! Maybe when I progress through the game I'll change my mind but so for now, yey my shaman!
