First of all as you enter into a battle you will see a 9x9 grid of your team, if health check license is on, you can see their health and mana. above their health you will see a number...
This number may either be green or red. Green means he can use a turn at that phase, red means he cannot.. Take note that there can only be a maximum of five turns per phase.. Therefore it is possible that there can be more 5 mercs with green numbers on them..
The numerical value only signifies the amount of AP each character has.. this determines the order of switching once you press guard on one character you want to skip a turn on the phase
Take note of this as this is quite useful especially in pvp if you want to strategically engage in battle with a game plan of mana sealing freezing or stunning the the enemy

This is quite an amazing information, I've always thought that I just go start clicking on my mercenary to attack and move randomly. I just go clicking and clicking the monster until they attacked it.

also if you think about it, thi is where the value of the spearman's spearlightning comes into play...
a freezing gives you -1 stun
a deep insight gives you -mdef
a lightning spear on the other hand gives you -ap
this means that a consistent barrage of spear lightning on oner merc can disable him from attacking in the the whole fight...
also if you consider pvp, having three spears can immobilize one single row of opponent mercs until eventually they lose hp from all the barrage, hypothetically that is ...until your spearman loses ap as well
all this info will make you appreciate the value of ap and the skills' brutal will seths will etc
