i started war a little later than most i d just moved and my internet was down for the best part of a month . so i came in about 10 days before the initial influx of people came to the end of thier first month . i started out as a squig herder on a server where the population fell quite sharply . i found by level 14 i was getting very bored and found it dull .
someone i know in game recomened another server and i ve since been playing a rune priest there and i ve found the game transformed . the grind is far less than in warcraft and its action packed at every level . i ve got into 80 man world pvp battles and lots of smaller skimishes when doing public quests ,
if you like pvp this game has far more to offer you than warcraft . what it does nt do is cater for people whos soul interest is pve . thats not to say the pve is nt enjoyable . its no more of a grind fest than warcraft or any other mmo for that matter.
the senarios which are like the battlegrounds are a lot of fun and thes more than the 4 ( or 5 ) that warcraft have to offer . again if you play on a medium - high server you dont find yourself in the same one all the time from tier 2 onwards . in tier one people do seam to favour nordonwatch over the other two .
the one thing i would say is unlike warcraft , warhammer is reliant on players to make it work well and there does have to be enough of them on a server for you to actually understand the full potential of the game .
the game may still lack a little polish but no more so than warcraft did in its opening months . i ve tried most mmos that have been released in the last few years and this is the best i ve seen since warcraft was released . by no means is it another age of conan , vanguard or tabuala rasa .
above all if you like pvp . this is fun . let the pve crowd have warcraft and repedative instances ,let the serious rpg crowd have lord of the rings and let the scifi crowd have eve online .they are all great games . but if you like strong action packed pvp try warhammer .

Until you realize the combat is horrible. No seriously, I've seen more fluid combat from F2P games.
I have a really big grip with collision in this game though even though you can use it your advantage with tanks it's still quite annoying overall .
action packed? I would not use those words to describe war's pvp and combat.
Fortunately or unfortunately this game runs on the people around you especially number of people on you.
If you feel the action isn't that good you probably are on a low level server, try rerolling on another server or waiting for the free transfers.
Class balance is definitely aimed for group action. I play a Disiple of Khaine. One on One there isn't a class that can beat me. But in group action I find myself dying a lot as I get too far foward and get grouped targeted.
Server balance is a struggle as the server I am presently on is lopsidely balanced towards Destruction. This leads to no RVR action. This isn't something that Mystic can control though.
There are still issues though. Chat boxes are still limited. This game hates left handed people. Cooldown timers are still borky. Animations don't always work. Debuff Icons are small and dificult to discern. Interace settings still reset themselves when I log off.
While I originally thought there was good feedback, I have changed my mind. It is simple to give feedback in game but you have no idea what happens with your feedback as there is no response to any of your concerns and there is no official forums to check responses. The newsletter is only once a week and cannot list all or even some of the developers responses to feedback.
Waiting for the next thing
Guild Wars=excellent PVP and excellent Combat engine
Thats odd i ve played most free to play games and i cant think of one thats as good this for combat . In fact i m finding the combat at least an equal to warcraft . The scenarios are equal to anything in the battlegrounds . I think the problem is the game is heavily reliant on players so if you end up playing on a low server you just wont have a great game experiance .
Nothing to hate here .I m having a great time .I found the early levels one Warcraft very dull to be honest and having a totally oppersite experiance in Warhammer .
The game obviously wont be to everyones taste , but for me its a breath of fresh air for pvp players such as myself .A free trial is very much needed now . Its very hard to tell in these forums what a game is like because theres plenty of trolls and flamers for every game . I m betting once people see it without having to buy it for themselves the number of subs will double within a couple of months .
Great game .
Guild Wars=excellent PVP and excellent Combat engine
I personally never liked the combat in Guild Wars . Different strokes for different folks i guess . Warhammers far superior in my opinion .
I agree with the OP. I'm on Ironfist, and at Primetime (almost exclusively when I play for a couple of hours at most) the Open RVR and scenarios (especially Kharne's Wrath) are super fun and get you through XP pretty fast. I have a super low end machine (iMac 2.4 ghz core 2 duo, 4 gig ram and a Nvidia 7300GT) and I don't have any problems with lag or stuttering, although I keep graphics settings low. The waits for scenarios to queue isn't bad at all - maybe 10 minutes for the bigger ones, the common complaint on these boards.
PVE is pretty good, IMO, but I will say that getting through the influence levels can be a pain if you are a solo player. I've never played WoW so I can't really compare.
So I'm on a pretty boring server where I can run around for a few hours without seeing anyone. What are the best servers? What servers have the best RVR?

Have to agree with the OP here.
One more thing. The game does not have any downtime which in my book is amazing. Not only that, but I think this particular aspect is the game's No 1 selling point (for casual players at least).
I had some friends over the other day and I was presenting the game to them. We are all closing in on our 30ies and are pretty much occupied with our works and obligations in our personal lives. We all like MMO's very much (we used to run a raiding guild in WoW 3 years ago) but realised we didn't have the required time to keep playing a game that demanded so much of our time.
Now WAR comes along. I wont get into the details but truth be told, I don't have to play for more than 2 hours to get my fill of the game. In 2 hours time I will do a PQ or two, 2-3 scenarios and If a keep battle is raging I might drop that all together and join in. Usually before I log off I will make some potions for next time. Only Keep battles are time consuming in the game, but if they weren't they wouldn't be any fun either.
To be honest I had lost hope and thought I would never play an MMO again becasue of the time sinks they all had. My last expecience was in Lotro (an excellent PvE game overall) but when I reached the level cap, the usuall LFG problem poped up....... I do not have these issues in WAR and I have already reached level 26.
This game wil become very popular among casual players once people realise what's going on.
Yeah, I've been trying to convince some friends that play 40k with me to give the game a try, because with life/work/kids etc we have limited hobby time. I was showing the game to my buddies this weekend just as the poster above (I'm not as high level because I have only had about 5 chances to put in any time in the last month) and based on the response I will probably be getting them to play. It is sad that they all have to get permission from their wives...but that is life.
I'm pretty stoked on this game because I love online gaming but I start to get the "honey!?" and "WTF are you doing in there?" calls after about an hour a half. The trick is getting a guild together that supports non-power gamers for ORVR and PVE. So far, I've been pretty successful with just finding groups around and joining up, but I'm thinking that going forward that is going to be harder to do. People dog the scenarios, but I think they are awesome for jumping on the PC for 30 minutes and getting a little battle - I do them a lot.
Quoted for the truth.
This game is one of the best games hands down.
when they make the announcement that open RVR areas are a enjoyable and equal means of leveling to max and that i can get as good gear thru RVR as PVE I will be back if that doesn't happen I will not
