I am thinking of giving WoW a shot and was wondering what is a viable raid class that is not a complete mess to level grind and pvp?

I would say either a Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock or Warrior.
Seriously, why don't you try the game and see if you like it before trying to pick the class you're going to raid with? All of the classes are fun in their own way and all of them are viable in raids. None are a complete mess to grind or PvP with. It all comes down to you as the individual and how you like to play. No one can answer this question for you, only you can do that.
to the inexperienced: wow is about as balanced as an mmo can get.

if you want EZmode, try a druid or a pally. both are incredible at leveling, and both are welcomed with open arms into raiding (mostly as healers, but also somewhat in other specs)
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

And yet stragely enough, my hunter was the first class I ever took into Kara. Ask 10 people and you'll get 10 different answers, at least when WoTLK comes out
I agree with the replies here. It used to be 2-3 classes that dominate pvp but now-a-days it is literally a toss up with mulitiple specs now can compete after the 3.0.2 patch. It comes down to what you like really like. Support role, healing role, or dps role and then what type of player you are into like ranged or close-ranged combat. From there, you think about what you like to specialize and see whether you like it or not. Play it for yourself and you will find one that fits your role.

Thanks for the posts.
I am planning on picking up the expansion for this game and EQ2 and go with what ever one I like more for the next year or so. And to make matters worse VGSoH apparently also released new content... holiday marketing sweeps can be so sucky but in a good way.

- raid class
- good grinding
- good pvp
That'll be the Warlock, Affliction built.
A caveat, though: if you don't enjoy micro-management - then Warlock may not be the best class for you.
