They are too successful.

Blizzard's arrogance and Warhammer Online Warhammer Online recently declines in the number of subscribers all of a sudden, why? In fact, the reason is obviously indicated from guild forum, message boards, and in-game chat; that is, it's the Blizzard's WOW new Patch, borrowing a lot of Warhammer Online features. I cannot get it detailed, but I think it got a high percentage of correctness. blabla

How about for starters...
1. WoW --> Achievements system = WAR --> Tome of Knowledge
Its fairly obvious and only a blind fan of WoW would say that Blizzard came up with this idea.
Lotro had this idea first, so giving them credit there.
Nothing that WoW does is original, I hate to say. They just try to make it better and enjoyable, however they fail when it comes to anything PvP.
Imagine WoW with Battlekeeps and a RvR system, that would be hilarous, especially the way there game is PvE centralized.

Achievements system was done in Lotro as you said a year and half ago. In lotro it was a deeds system. So the idea is not taken from WAR but from Lotro. Let's see other features ...

Wait, so how did they copy this from WAR when LOTRO and so did it first? I can name countless things in WAR that other games did first. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets to about 99% of the game.
Daoc for one did keep sieging 8 years ago, and from what I hear they actually did it better than WAR back then. (funny since it's the same team, but then Keeps in this game were an afterthought really since they didn't start adding them till after the outburst last november when people said ORvR was highly dissatisfactory)
ToK= basically achievements system frommany other games + bestiary which is in many other games + stat gathering which is in even more countless games.
Etc Etc. You can trace most of every current games back to other games really.
YOU WANT TO GIVE POWER TO THE PEON EH ROBIN OF LOCKSLEY? How about the fact EA controls Mythic? Whats you says abouts thats eh? Im not Canadian but I figure this guy is eh? cause he is obviously not from my part of the burbs eh? Thanks for the fun.
Someone translate this to me. I haven't seen such a terrible message for a long time (besides the obvious trolls) in any forums.
Impossible to translate. WarOnCrack was obviously doin some crack when he wrote this. And showing off his american geography hard at work. As the only Robin of Locksley I can think of is Robin Hood...which is not Canadian, but England...far far away from Canada.
You gotta be jokin' if you think Blizz took something from WAR. Lots of MMO had achievements and Lake Wintergrasp is very different from castle sieges(+it's more interactive than a small castle with 2 floors and a standard boss in the midle. Give L2 castles already) They do plan to add BG Exp and other stuff but that's in the future(and to be honest, I doubt they will do that since there are many twink subscribers). I'd rather call Mythic arrogant. They gotta be on some uber kind of crack if they think they are fighting with Blizzard. They had lots of money from EA, yet they made this craptastic game.
I agree.
First off the Tome of Knowledge in WAR isn't new. LOTRO had the Deed log and we can go back all the way to EQ1.
Every MMO has his form of progression log. LOTRO went quite a bit further with the Deed log, then WAR came with the ToK and now Blizzard patched in their version.
Problem with WAR atm and why it's really losing many subs is because this game is more Scenarios Online then that this game has anything what DAoC had.
Performance is so bad, that the game can't handle more then 2 full warbands on the RvR lake, before turning it into a slide show with warping and flying people all over the place. Ghosting images of players and NPC's everywhere. And horrible casting delays.
And even worse... lagging the whole server for everyone when a largescale RvR is going on (even noticable in scenarios who become more laggy).
Their whole netcode is screwed up and for Mythic's sake I hope they get it sorted sooner then later.
oh come on.... LOTR didnt invent anything, they just took it from the badge system in City of Heroes.... i guess we will get pretty far in time continuing like this haha
oh come on.... LOTR didnt invent anything, they just took it from the badge system in City of Heroes.... i guess we will get pretty far in time continuing like this haha
Yes that's right, I completely forgot about the CoH. And definetly there was something like this in AC2. Well that's what Im talking about. Blizzard is not stealing any ideas from WAR. They see what is popular and might improve their game and they will do it. Noone claims blizzard is doing games with original content (let's be honest, not even polished, ...their marketing is fantastic tho)
World of Warcraft is a game that takes idea's from other games period. There is nothing original about World of Warcraft. There is even talk of them implementing a Public Quest system now which WAR came out with. They even stated in interviews that they have gamers trying different mmorpg's and taking the good ideas and implementing into their game.
In the real world we call people like this Biters, but hey, they are making a profift, so who gives a shit. More money in their pocket. Simple and to the truth, if your a Trek fan, Blizzard is the BORG of mmorpgs!
They assimilate and add to their collective and call it something else.
For originality, I give World of Warcraft a low 10 out of a 100, but grading on the fun factor people are looking for in a mmorpg now, I would say a 90. Me, the game has gone to shit since the burning crusade, resilence add to gear / weapons, open world pvp sucks and the arena's killed the game for me.
WoW is crap fest now of over powered players which makes there arena's garbage and bg's just torture to play. Unless you play wow, just for the PvE instances, dance in front of your friends naked, get your haircut in game and spam selling gold for $$$.

Ok... I was a little tired when I read this thread, and it ennerved me so that I lost a bit of grammer. Basically it is supposed to be a pun about a Canadian Robin Hood who takes from WoW and gives to War. Blizzard is a big company and so is EA, therein lies the fundamental problem of Robin Hood taking from big and giving to big. I did go a bit overboard making fun of his grammer with my own shitty response. That help a little?
Blizzard know how to copy other games, other devs seems not to be able to do the same with WoW.
It is not Blizzard the problem, the problem is that other developers are clueless.
I suggest people stop attacking Blizzard and start criticising other devs for failing to make decent games.
We might just get better MMOs, who knows....................
Some people just don't get that part. People keep blaming the failures of so many companies on the success of one.
The way people around here talk you would think Blizzard walked into the design studios of other companies and told them what they can and cannot do.
P.S. To the original poster.... Umm what exaclty are the features of WoWs latest patch that are directly taken from Warhammer? The book of achievements is very much inspired by LOTRO book of deeds, just as Warhammers tome of knowledge is. Other than that, I don't see anything, but I could be missing all these things you say are there. Care to list them?
WAR hasn't failed, its just off to a rocky start. Truth is, the devs should have known that people would take the easiest road to levelling. If they made Pqs the best way to level, the scenarios would be mostly empty, except for people catching up on their renown.
the Devs at Mythic aren't stupid by any means, but I will admit this game needed to be worked on a bit longer before release. They can fix it, it'll just take some time. People were preaching Wow's doom in the same manner they were Preaching LOTRO's doom and EQ2's doom,FF11's doom, not to mention AOC's doom and now WAR's doom. Every mmo is gonna have its own little mass of "this game has failed" 'tards running around. A few games actually DID fail, like Auto Assault (ugh).
I mean look at Dungeons and Dragons Online, people said that game was screwed from the beginning. It's still there.
WAR ain't gonna die, get over it. preach all the doom and gloom you want, won't change the fact.
I do enjoy reading forums regarding WoW vs. LoTR vs. WaR. Look people, I played WoW, had a great time and felt as if I got my moneys worth. Played LoTR, loved the atmosphere, but unfortunatly had to cut it short since it just wasn't my cup of tea. WaR is my new game addiction and I am loving it. The end result, I'm a gamer who just loves to play games. I find it humorous to see people that defend a game. Anyone that defends a game against another needs to take a break and spend some time with people outside of the basement. Arguing which game is better is like arguing buffy was better than Xena, or firefly was better than bsg. None of it should impact anyone emotionally enough to feel anger and rage. We all pay money to play a game which is better than sitting on a couch and watching a tv show, at least your using brain cells. What you spend that money on is your business but never forget that its a game for entertainment, and entertainment is suppose to be a fun thing. So everyone, just have fun playing the game of your choice and stop getting emotional over some binary code. I've seen enough of that when playing WoW and wiping on a 5 hour instance. Fortunately I ave not seen this in WaR yet. I hate it when the real world emotions of anger and hate slide into my Virtual South Park of entertainment. My next cup of tea will probably be Diablo III, hard to have drama in a hack n slash rpg but Im sure it will get compared to Sam and Max XXXIIIX. Forgive any typos Im on the Train going home, and mmorpg forums are ruthless to typos! If your going to bash this American, make it funny.
Huh? Excuse me, I have not seen one thing in Wow that can be considered in the slightest to be stolen from War. If you are going to rant about something pick a topic you actually know something about.

Ok let's get this straight.
WAR is not failing because WoW had copied their Book of Knowledge or introduced a RvR area in the overland world.
WAR is in decline because it failed as a game.
